How shit must you be.....

So it comes back to being the fans fan again then?

Got it.
LOL. Back to this again. Just accept that in some games at all clubs the fans are quick to get on players' back. It happens. For me back the team during the game and let them know the thoughts at half time and full time. Heckling players during the game is just plain daft,in my opinion

An example from Donny on Satdi. Guy in front of me slagging off Baxter just about every touch he made. Now I'm not Baxter's biggest fan but some of the stuff he was coming out with wasn't even football related. Baxter pass to Adams,one- nil he denied it was Baxter until everyone pointed it out to him. He looked gutted Baxter had made that pass. This fan took so much stick he didn't turn up in the second half.

People on this forum say that when players get stick they should just 'man up' and improve what they are doing. . About 10 fans gave this bloke some stick about Baxter and he couldn't 'man up' and left. .

And people say abuse doesn't affect others ? Yeah right.

We won 24 games only lost 9 games in that season don't see any comparison in comparing these periods, and as far as convincing it ended in promotion automatic by the way not scratching for 5/6 playoff spot in the third tier of football.
Can you imagine what the reaction would have been from Barney and Co after the 5-0 defeat to West Ham and the 2-1 defeat to Barnsley . Meltdown central I reckon

What does a table showing our form as 7th best in the league meant to be proving?

It proves we are unbeaten in our last 7 away games meaning that the "How shit must you be" chant is a little off the mark.

Now if you were Colchester, you could understand that as they haven't won an away game for 10 games.

In 18 games out of 30 teams have managed to take points of United Donny couldn't in two games hence the chant some fans over thinking IMO

The post I responded to laid the blame of our poor form this season squarely at the feet of our fans.

I disagreed

. Ive said nothing about giving abuse out to our players.

It's not a new thing. Ask any footballer. The small grounds are the worst because you can hear almost every word. I guess it's something that young players are warned about and have to learn to develop a very thick skin.

What is pleasing is that both George and, to a lesser degree, Little Louie, have been subjected to it and have come through it.

I think if I ran an academy I'd send the kids out for a week's work experience as a traffic warden or a brickie's labourer. That's when the abuse is up close and personal (try spending a week running up and down ladders while someone's shouting 'more gobbo you fucking lazy cunt') and you'd be less bothered about some fat bloke shouting crap from the safety of the stand.

That is bad, I really don't think picking out one player is fair.... But I did smirk reading your post- that does sound slightly amusing.

yeah I thought it was sad but also amusing the bit at the end. Not nice to see someone down like that regardless.

Bigger Blade alert !!!!

Utter bollocks. Why is it? At what stage so I profess to be a bigger blade than anyone else on here.

We all support in our own ways.

And you're right, it is a forum for opinions etc, however I just back up my postings/views of how I think we have been so far this season based on evidence of actually being at the matches this season.

Based on what I've seen so far, I believe that winning 10 games from now until the end of the season is unrealistic, particularly if we lose Billy Sharp (our only main goal scorer) through injury.

I like how you say you'd be surprised if we didn't beat Shrewsbury (along with some others). Up until their visit to Bramall Lane this season I would have said the same thing.........
Out most of the teams you mention, MOST of our current set of players are no better than what those teams have - it's why we are where we are.

Very true. I dont understand why those who travel a long way, pay for their tickets just to heckle at our players

I don't understand why those who travel to BDTBL, pay for their tickets and ST's, just to heckle at our players.
So i've given up.

Maybe the club can designate a certain area where they all can congregate as one unit.

And what games out of our remaining ones do you think we will win 10 of?

As things stand at the minute, I (and I am sure many others) cannot see beyond the next match each week. That's because we may win one, but then collapse the next match.
How many times have we seen it this season/last season where we put in a half decent performance (admitted there are not many of those!) and you think, "possibly we can kick on from here" only for us to surrender the next match?
We take 1 step forward, 3 steps backwards.

What the management need to start doing is planning, properly planning, for next season.
Identifying targets, putting out feelers and preparing a whole new team - we are blessed by the fact a load of this current team are out of contract at the end of the season. We need to take this "clear the decks" opportunity and make the most of it.

The club should be honoured at the numbers we turn out each week given what we have had to put up with.
Do you think other clubs in our position would have been as forgiving as we have been because I don't. I actually think we have been very forgiving as supporters. With what we have had to put up with, the atmosphere could so easily have been a hell of a lot more toxic.

Forgiving?

There's something in that...

A week as a traffic warden. Brilliant.

Im all for having a whine when we are poor or have given a poor display , my beef is pro footballers leave it at that bad display and go again
we were poor v wigan ,then went and got it much better v doncaster
but our moaning fans
whinge one week then whinge again when we win
its about belief, the opportunity isnt gone, the chance is still there
so we have to be professional fans and believe we can do it, start again next game
not carry age old whinges from one game to the next

BTL it's easier said than done. We weren't great at Donny. We beat them because they are a poorer side than us. With the exception of Bradford at home and the last 20 minutes at Wigan we haven't looked remotely like a team threatening promotion all season and patience is wearing thin. True we still have an opportunity to make the top 6 but the way we are playing very few give us much hope. The bottom line is there are at least 6 teams better than us in what is a piss poor league one. You say it's about belief. Well after 5 seasons the belief for many blades is evaporating fast. Over 200 league games in this division and we now struggle to keep in touch with the top 6. Wheres the belief supposed to come from that the next 16 matches will see us through? I'll review if and when we make any loan signings. Otherwise I'm not holding my breath

Agreed that some will moan from the off or for the sake of it. Saturday's example was when Baxter tried a threaded pass which was cut out cue howls of derision. At least he had the balls to try it rather than the sideways "play it safe" option! They weren't moaning when he fed Che beautifully for the goal. There's a time and a place for critisism of your team. That's here and at the end of the match. We are no different from others though. QPR fans had long periods of booing on Saturday v Fulham for example

Yes. I think the support could easily have been much worse - we haven't. Even the game against Wigan when there were rumblings about what could happen if we go a goal down.

The fans didn't turn on the team, the board, the manager. They actually listened to the plea by the manager prior to the game to save anything until after the final whistle.

I say forgiving because I've seen footage (like many others will have) of the reactions of the Aston Villa fans towards their team following a poor showing in the FA Cup - we haven't done that.

so we were convincing in all those wins were we
before answering that Ill mention Deane won 5 of them with last minute goals
Im argueing the football wasnt that great through out the campaign

the results were good , which is what we need , a few wins

and likewise Sunderland fans not so long back walking out at half time.

dont have to be great , just win 10 games , as ugly as you like
6 teams better than us no
theres a fag paper between the top 10 as bradford winning 4=0 at posh on saturday showed

exsqueeze , me
which board is this , the one thats spent more than any other club in this league
from money generated by cup runs player sales and ticket money

We are the biggest club and have the biggest resources but need more investment from the people upstairs as so far its the fans generating the transfer kitty

who knows we might beat coventry away as we are playing better away and lose at home to scunthorpe
footballs impossible to predict, but we play 12 of the last 16 games against clubs below us in the league
have you watched us long

I remember promotion years where in 20 plus games we olayed absolute dog shit

in 1989 90 everyone remembers the last game v Leicester , yes brilliant
but we were far from convincing in a hell of a lot of games
I take issue with that last paragraph
We were top two practically all season

from money generated by cup runs player sales and ticket money

no its not
analogy
1 small restaurant 1 big restaurant
small restaurant doesnt have to hire as many staff pay more rent rates bigger cleaning bills , less energy costs

same with us
more stewards more police much larger overheads
, to try and make a similar profit
income from gates is not the be all it used to be
its only a small part of the spread sheet

Load of cack. More stewards, more police, but how many more fans I wonder?
