I'm not criticising before anyone loses their knickers. But what I would like to propose is three simple questions to Nigel Adkins. If anyone's in the twittersphere and wants to forward them on to Jonathan Buchan and friends to ask him next time they see him I'd be most grateful.

1. Why did you not sign at least 2 centre halves in good time before the season started? Why is this still the case to this day?

2. Do you think this is incredibly dissapointing and really bizarre with the unanimously well known fact that at least 2 centre halves have been top priority for over 12 months?

3. How much of an impact do you think this has had on our league position comparative to expectations at the beginning of the season?

Has anyone get any more to add?

No.

I've never been much cop at Maths Barney, but I'm reasonably sure I counted 4 questions for NA there?

Does Adkins read the forum? Seems an odd place to post them if not?

He's on here all the time. He wears his mother's dress and posts as Barney

This isn't a dig at you personally but I never get why people think a manager wouldn't want to go out and spend money and buy players. He is quite clearly limited by the board, the budget and the number of players we have on the books. It's very easy to understand, it's been done to death.

Why has JCR been getting no time on the pitch?
Wouldn't it be great if he were actually to be asked these sorts of questions?

I'm reasonably sure they'll opt for more of the gentler one's he can easily throw some cliches at, but it's always nice to try.

He's on Twatter. Maybe you should message him

5: Do you regret not just releasing half the squad and paying up their contracts thus magically freeing up all your budget?

To be fair, if we released any player who hasn't got a prayer of getting in the 18 before now and the end of the season, there would be less discontent round the training ground. Thinking Higdon etc at this point.

Souldn't you be drinking Sangria and helping your missus enjoy her new lease of life. Or are you leaving that to Pedro?

7. New Nigel. Are you a poofter?

0 assists

I'd be worried if Adkins' reasoning was as simplistic as that.

It's not only about assists, it's about being an outlet, getting the team up the pitch, getting the opposition on the back foot, creating attacking situations and creating room for others by being double marked.

A player who can do that should at least be brought on from the bench on a regular basis, especially for us.

If that's the case and the board's said he can't have the money for Byrne (for example, a known target), then why aren't we moving on to other targets that don't cost as much. We're not looking for a world beater at centre half, just someone who can put their head on the ball, gets his tackles in, wins most of the first balls, and has a bit nastiness and leadership about him. A reliable, no nonsense 3rd division defender will do, we've got numerous squad players to trade in against a centre half to ease any deal through. If the manager and board want this to happen, it shouldn't be to difficult to get something done on this front.

The spine of the team isn't strong enough, we've had promotion teams in the past that's included players in key positions that cost nowt in transfer fees - Morgs free transfer, Short free transfer, Bromby free transfer, Bob Booker free transfer, John Gannon free transfer, Neil Shipperley free transfer. This shouldn't be a problem bringing in an effective centre half at this level.

He more than helped get the point at Wigan, he caused them havoc just by the threat of him being on the pitch. Like I've said before, he's at least a good option off the bench and why wouldn't anyone want one of them!

Did Adkins have Seabass, Sole, Prawns or something Goliath for tea, or perhaps something else? Obviously, I want him to answer in his own time.

I'd like to ask why we brought in 2 strikers and 2 mid-fielders before the season kicked off but no central defenders until Gillingham gave us the opening day hammering, at the time we had Collins, Magahey and a crocked Kennedy as the only recognised centre backs the rest were fullbacks who could play there in a crisis oh and Basham could fill in if need be. A baffling choice given that we have needed at least one centre back since Maguire was sold.

JCR Is I belive one of the players who we have a chance of shipping out, he would be wanted by other clubs, especially in the top end of League Two, not wanting to jeopdy that with an injury is one of the reasons I think he has not been risked at all recently.

I agree with many on here that with our current options I would prefer him to stay for the rest of this season and be used as an impact player off the bench but long term we have to be looking at better and more consistent players and if he goes in the JTW I think it will be a sign we are starting to build now for next season.

I don't think we have given up on a play off spot but promotion from here would be a (major) surprising bonus this season, we have to get it right for next season starting now.

Well we agree. Hopefully it'll get asked because it hasn't yet and needs answering.

Strange considering it's importance.

8. Why do you keep saying 'it's about winning a game of football'
