Don't shoot the messenger but been told he could be on his way to the lane in a 200k deal ...6"5 centre half plays for Mansfield he was also at southampton in2011 think Adkins was there then so maybe some truth in this .source mate owns a restaurant and mansfield owner was in and he often speaks to my mate and he told him he's good header of the ball also comfortable on it ..and blades showing interest.
 

If you'd have said your source was twitter or transfernewsnow I might have believed you, not the old restaurant rumour :D
 
Like I said on another thread, and others have said, this was a rumour from last season, Clough was interested, because he heard good things about the lad, and I think Freeman knows him. Anyway, the deal was this lad in and Collins plus cash going the other way (money, not Pat Cash or Tango and Cash), but Collins somehow nixxed the deal(?), not saying we don't have any interest, but it was old news.

Yeah I remember that rumour. Not seen enough of the lad to really have a strong opinion but good height and age.

Same here Dane, not seen the lad to really know, but a young, athletic, 6ft 5 player in the back four would not be a bad thing. Although he would have to have more confidence that Harrison McGahey!

Maybe a back up plan then if we don't get Burn then again do we do plan b's.?

Could be a back up plan Marsho, who knows. My only worry is that he has been at Mansfield for three years and no one really come in for him? (Dundee United sniffing around last season but it came to nothing)
 
If he's cheap enough then we should sign him in addition to Burn. We still need two better centre backs, not just one. And Edgar's only on loan anyway.

We need more Blades with a "z" in their name!

He's out of contract in the summer, so wouldn't be very expensive. Oldham are also linked with him. We played Mansfield in the league cup last season. Judging by that match I agree with this quote from somewhere else: "he's decent but has a mistake in him."

Anyway, hope we do sign Tafa. It'd be a revolutionary signing in its own way - us signing a promising up-&-comer (rather than a "name" beset with injury or fitness or ageing problems). But, got to wait for about 15 of those "43 professionals" to be offloaded before we can begin to hope of something as mindbending as a signing...
