Flapped at a simple cross like a twelve year old went straight to their bloke on the edge of the box... One Nil.

Adkins has just said it was a "Great punch" and that Long had a "good game and was commanding"

No, just one punch from a corner which landed on the edge of our box where none of our players were bothering to mark the eventual goalscorer.

That was not a punch.

Pack it in son , football is clearly not your thing.

Have you considered becoming a florist?
Harsh for me based on today's performance. I agree he's not turning out to be the keeper we thought but the first goal was defence / midfield for me. Long came and punched , everyone just watched their lad place a good shot in. No chance for him on second either .
I don't think either are quite good enough for a promotion winning side . So they'll do just fine for us

I think due to the conditions he was probably told to punch everything. He made a decent punch through a crowd second half, and a decent save at the feet of one of theirs. Distribution was ok. But as I've said since the summer, we need a new first choice keeper.

I thought he was alright, caught a couple of crosses, which I always thought he shied away from.

Wasn't rolling it out short when he probably should have done and the 1st goal was a flap, but it wasn't that bad, no one got near their man and he struck a tremendous volley.

Not been able to make the game today. I'm assuming he had another shocker?

Weak punch which fell kindly to a player on the edge of our box who we had decided not to bother marking

He had time to take it down, look up, wait for it to bounce and then hit it on the drop in off the post ...... whilst simultaneously reading the paper, mashing a pot of tea and munching on a pie !!

Who was supposed to be closing him down ..... not sure and neither were the team. Shit defence, shit midfield, strikers who can't score in a brothel but apparently all is well down at BDTBL !!

There's more chance of me enjoying a steamy threesome with Kelly Brook and Scarlet Johannsen than there is of us getting promoted this season ...... we may not even have to endure the upset and shame of a

play-off semi-final exit ........

Longs only mistake was to pat a ball to the edge of the area (you could never call that a punch) but not one of our players put any pressure on their player who had time to read a book before banging it into the net. Another schoolboy error from Long but piss poor defending also to blame.

We should be planning for next season anyway. Every effort should be being made to to shift out any player possible (bar about 5) . If that means fucking this season off, so be it.

I'd wait until we are safe from relegation ( which will be a good while yet!) and start the ball rolling.

Got the chance to go to Walsall, as its not far from me, or a pre Christmas trip to France for some cheap alcohol!

Decisions, decisions............

Mmm on reading the forum & on reflection France it is then.

Thought Long was quite decent today.

Well, yes. He did fine.

Their first goal came from a punch which didn't go far enough, but it was still a great hit to score from there, assisted by no closing down from our crack team of defensive dynamos.

having not been to the game today i was gutted to hear Long had dropped what sounded like another clanger, but after watching the highlights in my opinion there is no way he was at fault for the first goal- first of all no one was marking the player stood on Long and with it being that defenders job to move the attacker away from the Gk so he can catch cleanly, he was left with no option but to punch. The punch went 15 to 20 yards which was decent to say he was moving backwards at the time, then their player was given time to let it bounce , chest it, aim, let it bounce again before scoring a screamer.
So in no way was that his fault

I thought George long had good couple of games. Doing well at Fleetwood & today. Commanding aerially pulled few good saves. & I couldnt blame him for 1st goal as I had doubts thought the 1st Southend goal shouldve been disallowed. Because of the 2/3 people crowding him. Reason why he punch it out. Then even still where was the players closing payne?? down

2nd he probably couldve positioned better but that defence would make many goalies look poor. The way he's left wide open

I thought he made the correct decision to punch/paw it away given the pressure and the heavy rain. Bentley dropped a gaff for our 1st. Stick with Long, but he needs to work on quicker distribution as Billy ain't the man to win his high balls.

Thought Long had decent game...not really at fault for the goals and seemed to have a bit of confidence, coming for crosses etc....
