says in the paper that the FA are to have a complete structure overhaul and will have an independent chairman so that it will improve "decision making"

Yeah, but nowt's going to happen as regards us anyway. This will hopefully mean that in future, there won't be such travesties. Hopefully ;)

" How was he stabbed in the back by Scudamore then ? "

not sure... might have been anything. he could have had an idea and scudamore took it off him and said it was his.

Christ McCabe, just drop the whole bloody thing. We will be in the championship next season.

Its OUR fault we went down, nobody else's.

Lets get over it and move on.

Agreed 100%

We shouldn't be dropping anything, thats exactly what they want us to do. Providing it doesn't harm our preperations for next season (i'm sure McCabe and his lawyers won't be taking pre-season training anyway! ;)) we should fight it until theres no means of fight remaining.

Whats happened is clearly wrong, to many people, therefore on principal we must fight it.

We might get little more than a few quid, but it'll be worth it if it stops a similar situation in the future.

We may have been relegated off our own inability to get points, but even had West Ham been unable to play him after the hearing, I don't think they'd have been good enough to finish above us.

As I understand it, one of the two parties was asked by the other to cover a few things up. It also seems Scudamore was keen to shift any blame for the situation firmly on Aldridge. Sounds like they had some some of "gentlemans" agreement which Scudamore wen't back on.

Scudamore should step down anyway, for the good of football!

Well, Aldridge was the former Cheif Exec. Terrence Brown was the former chairman. Neither have anything to do with West Ham now and they both were the main players in the Tevez deal.

It seems if anyone deserves to be punished, it's Brown, Aldridge & Scudamore ( if he has been trying to cover things up ). Any further points deduction for West Ham will be very harsh on it's supporters, manager and the new owners.

But still, punishing them 3 wouldn't really be worth any money to yourselves and the clubs that West Ham finnished above now would it. After all, that's what all this is about.

Yeah because lets not forget, West Ham are the last people who should be punished for West Hams wrong doing! I recon punish the other clubs supporters, managers and owners.

Infact, sod it, let's illegally bring in Ronaldihno, Christiano Ronaldo and John Terry, walk the championship and then Terry Robinson step down... Surely they shouldn't punish the new football club chairman based on your logic?

It's all about having fairness, consistancy and morals throughout the league.

Theres a massive amount of crap talked about football, but this topic has raised some of the most laughable opinions i've ever heard.

It's easy to talk bollocks when you're talking about things which don't concern you or your club ;)

to me... if your one of the people thats saying drop the case... its as though you agree to let cheating go on in the game.

where taking them to court not only for ourselfs being cheated out but for other clubs in the future.

Blades stay away from Premier AGM

Blades stay away from Premier AGM

SHEFFIELD United are not expected to attend the Premier League AGM as they concentrate their efforts on overturning their relegation to the Championship.

The meeting marks the end of United's membership of the FAPL, with chief executive Richard Scudamore announcing he will forcibly revoke their card following the club's decision to declare legal war on his organisation's failure to deduct West Ham points for a serious breach of transfer regulations.

Earlier this month, United had threatened not to resign from the competition until June 18's arbitration hearing into the matter delivers its verdict.

But, despite enjoying the backing of Wigan, Fulham, Charlton and Middlesbrough, officials at Bramall Lane have opted to confine their protest to matters of protocol in order to protect their moral position ahead of what could turn out to be one of the most tumultuous summers in the history of English football.

Arguing that the FAPL's "irrational" display of leniency towards West Ham ultimately cost his side a top-flight place next term, United's plc chairman, Kevin McCabe, has vowed to pursue the matter to the High Court if necessary but is expected to delay a direct confrontation by refusing to travel tomorrow.

"I don't think we will be going," a United source told The Star.

Brussels based property developer McCabe, who will return to England to oversee United's preparations for arbitration, has been outspoken in his criticism of the FAPL.

But, barring a late change of heart, he will allow others to do his bidding inside the AGM while he concentrates on picking holes in the argument that West Ham have been adequately punished.

Looks like we aint going.

I think we should go, wear hoodies, carry knives and take loads of cans of Special Brew and act like the boisterous thugs that everybody is making us out to be. ;)

They wouldn't let it lie ...

Sheffield United have vowed to continue their fight for 'justice' - despite being stripped of their Premier League membership yesterday.

The Blades saw their Premiership share - one of which is given to every member club at the beginning of each season - passed on to Derby County, who have replaced them in the 07/08 line-up. Despite earlier threats suggesting that they would try to hijack the meeting, it was attended by the 20 member clubs only.

Despite officially being a Football League club now, the Blades are clinging on to the vain hope that an arbitration hearing on June 18th will reinstate them in the Premier League.

Lord Justice Sir Philip Otton will chair the panel alongside David Pannick QC (chosen by Sheffield United), and leading barrister Nicholas Randall (nominated by the Premier League).

Although the panel cannot overturn the decision to fine the Hammers £5.5m they could yet rule that the judgement was flawed and award compensation to the Blades.

Their Chairman - Kevin McCabe - has all but run out of options, yet insists that he will take the matter to the House of Lords AND the European Parliament should the hearing return a favourable verdict.

However the Premeir League have all but said that the enquiry is a waste of time, and little more than a case of going through the motions. West Ham's Premier League status will not be affected.

They had the cheek to say we never shut up either these hammers fans.

Thats all very well but at the end of the day, we were 10 points clear with 2 months to go and we still went down, all we needed was 1 goal and we would have stayed up. WH nor Tevez made us so shite thoughout the season, we did that.

There is no point fighting when we will get nothing from it, we are looking like sore losers.

The whole saga is boring, we need to concentrate on going straight back up not getting caught up in legal stuff.

Dont ask why Im posting at 6.am in the morning either ;)

if it is a waste of time why dont they just come out and show everything is legal about it? there just saying it as they dont want it to go all the way.

Blades turn to Hollywood for appeal help
20070603 11:18

Hollywood heartthrob Sean Bean is to help Sheffield United in their ongoing battle to be reinstated into the Premiership.

The Blades have turned to the Sheffield-born actor to help them in their bid to retain their status in the top flight and it is understood Bean will lead a campaign to MPs before an independent panel rules on their relegation.

The South Yorkshire side suffered the misery of being relegated on the final day of the season last month but are hoping that West Ham will be sent down instead over the Carlos Tevez controversy, which saw the Hammers fined £5.5 million by the Premier League for fielding an ineligible player but escape a point deduction which would have made the Blades safe.

Bean told the News of the World: "If I can help in any way to expose this injustice and get Sheffield United reinstated to the Premier League I'd be a very happy and proud man.

"If you look at the history of clubs who have been found guilty of fielding inelgible players, they were all deducted points. A fine is an open invitation for clubs to break the rules at will."

Spot on there sean. :)

Apparently a leading PL official has told McCabe that he feels an arbitration process would benefit the blades cause and should that be the case we'd have a very strong case for reinstatement

Would they dare have the bottle to reinstate us though ?

Think of the uproar from West Ham would be if that happend.

Cant see West Ham taking it on the chin and accepting it if everything got overturned.

McCabe was questioned again in the interview about an extra team next season but says it's up to PL to decide on that if the decision goes for us.

I think we still have some good arguments......

In a game where only points matter why fine a club to punish them? Especially when they have just been taken over by rich people.

Why were West Ham fans and time of season mentioned by the panel making the decision? Just what has that got to do with rules being broken?

The club broke the rules.

hardly anyone in the PL likes scudamore.... think if it goes further some of the PL members will be backing us and hoping scudamore is outed.

and i agree with the points sf just mentioned. the fans feelings shouldnt have come into account of it. our feelings wernt so can we then sue the PL for not taking into account for us being pushed aside and not thought of?

I can't see us getting re-instated unfortunately. The P.L and F.A are far too corrupt and up West Ham's arse to do anything.

I will be suprised if we do get re-instated to the P.L.

Alan Sugar had a points deduction overturned while he was the Chairman of the Yid Scum, on the grounds that the club was under a different administration when the rule break took place. So it's pretty clear you will get now joy on that front.

And to pick up on your point about "having fairness, consistancy and morals throughout the league". I take it you will be against a 21 team league next season then. As the only people that will benefit is yourselves. After all, if this is about fairness throughout the league, it's only right that justice is done to every club, and not just Shefield Utd. Strange how that isn't mentioned much on here isn't it.

Lastly, Eggert Magnusson knew nothing about the rule break when he took over the club. A point that was revealed in the original process in court and was beneficial to their case. Also, it was actually West Ham who came clean and brought that rule break to the attention of the premier league when they found out, another facter that stood in West Hams favour with the judge.

Lets say for instance, your imbicile of a chairman tries to bribe an official. Somone within the Premier, oops sorry, Football League finds out about this and Mccabe gets wind he is rumbled. If he quickly sells the club and moves on, you will think it's fair that he escapes punishment and your club suffers by the actions of an idiot ?. No need to answer that really.....

Why are you so amazed that our main priority lies with what is best for Sheffield United?

And can we keep the childish insults about people you have no knowledge of out of the argument please? Kevin McCabe might be many things, but I don't think he's am imbecile.

Spot on there sean. :)

Someone please inform that two bob actor that Tevez was never ineligable. All previous cases have no bearing on the Tevez situation as it was the first break of that said rule.

It seems he has nothing better to do. Still, he's acting career seems to be going the same way as your football club doesn't it.
