I found this paragraph particularly interesting, especially as it pre-dates the Selles experiment.Intresting article about our potential new recruit

Phil Jones: ‘My bread and butter is on the grass. It’s what I really enjoy’
Phil Jones tells Suzanne Wrack about feeling bitter with his long-term injury but how he is excited to be launching his coaching careerwww.theguardian.com

Done his research! Not sure if this was pre or post Selles with the article saying it's over a year old but some good advice!I found this paragraph particularly interesting, especially as it pre-dates the Selles experiment.

The bypass is coming along, he’ll be able to get to the gridlock in Glossop much quicker when that opensDoes he know what the traffic is like at Mottram?!
Didn't realise the game had moved on so much since last year when they got us 92 points?Wilder and Knill are rather old school and the game has moved on.
And still failed!Didn't realise the game had moved on so much since last year when they got us 92 points?
If you could take 92 points for the coming season now, would you?And still failed!
Not if 8 other teams get 93 pointsIf you could take 92 points for the coming season now, would you?
I see what you mean but, with our record in the playoffs, you only need two teams with 93 points to stop us from going up.Not if 8 other teams get 93 points
Moose pretty much ended his career at MU that day, From memory, Jones got hooked at half time and didn’t play much after that game, he certainly didn’t start many. It brings a tear to my eye to think of how Moose wasted his talent. If he had Iliman’s attitude, what a player he could have been.Never forget Moose putting him on his arse.
Sadly that was Mousset’s best 60 mins of his entire career. He was unplayable for that hour. What a waste of talent. He should have been a Premier League striker for his whole career. Silly lad.Moose pretty much ended his career at MU that day, From memory, Jones got hooked at half time and didn’t play much after that game, he certainly didn’t start many. Hope they get on with go faster stripesProbably the most important signing of the summer will be a new coach.

I'd agree that we threw away automatic. But the play-off final was out of our hands. We played well enough to win and had a perfectly good goal disallowed. We threw away automatic but were robbed in the playoffsIt’s all relative. With the squad we’re likely to have next season, 92 points would be fantastic.
With the squad we had and the position we were in, it was a failure. We threw away both automatic and the playoffs.
Being a silly lad didn’t really come into it. He was a very troubled person. Unfortunately, a lot of that sort of stuff doesn’t get sorted out until much later in life. Tragic, really.Sadly that was Mousset’s best 60 mins of his entire career. He was unplayable for that hour. What a waste of talent. He should have been a Premier League striker for his whole career. Hope the powers that be are not stupid enough to sack one of the most brilliant tactical minds in the championship and put a novice like Jones in......are they?
I know this has long gone in terms of conversation, from my side of things VAR shouldn't have been in place or shouldn't be in place for any playoff finals, unless you bring the same standards into every game then don't do it at all, the assistant referee should be picking that up and if he can't see a near side offside decision then the goal should be given but regarding the goal regardless if they had to look at VAR for it they are looking for 1 of 2 things,I'd agree that we threw away automatic. Mark my words if we aren’t int top 6 by Christmas Wilder will be out and Jones’s in as manager until end of season then…….
CW is not a brilliant tacticianMaybe put the crack pipe down yeah![]()

1) Was in this case Souza in a offside position when the ball was played by Burrows, answer is yes
2) Was Souza Interfering with an opponent: by... Blocking an opponent's line of sight Less Likely, challenging them for the ball Potentially, or preventing them from playing the ball Potentially
As the screenshot shows when Burrows plays the ball Souza's is in an offside position with his body pointing in the direction of the keeper, it makes it more likely to be look like he is going to be in the way of the keeper. The Laws of the Game are very subjective and probably written as vaguely as possibly as it's about justification from an officials point of view, from the black and white facts, nobody can argue that Souza is not in an offside position as he is behind the 2nd to last defender in front of the ball when it is played. The rest of the statements are then down to interpretation, the actual one the referee ruled it out for was "Blocking an opponent's line of sight" in this case the Keeper, which for me personally I would disagree that Souza, is doing that as he is almost behind him and if anything his own player is blocking the view of the shot. I could actually buy into the fact of challenging the ball or preventing them from playing the ball more due to Souza's body positioning.
The problem is when you are in an offside position you run the risk of these decisions going against you, by reviewing that clip again, what I can't quite understand from Souza is his positional awareness. The corner is cleared by a Sunderland player at the centre of the box, Souza is in a group of players ready to compete for the ball at the back post, for some reason he decides to not only to stay behind the group, as they all rush out due to Burrows lining up the volley but he runs an almost U turn around the back of them into the 6 yard box, if he ran the other way or had continued running with the group of players he was originally with, he wouldn't have been caught up in the offside decision. The active players part of the Laws of the Game makes it very easy to be able to situational aware and get yourself in a position, he had 2 options as "exit routes" either sprint with the group that he was already with or if he had to peel away, his U-turn should have been to his right which would have taken him away from goal. Either way I don't think the keeper is stopping the shot but he should have been thinking about the potential for offside.
They didn't deserve promotion and you are only guessing on the rest. First sentence I agree with.Let it go. Sunderland deserved promotion. We’d have stunk the PL out. Again.

They did, they won the final against us. He’s not wrong either, do you think we’d have signed the likes of Xhaka? Absolutely not. They didn't and you should find another hobby
I never said anything about who we'd sign but they didn't deserve to beat us they were shitThey did, they won the final against us. He’s not wrong either, do you think we’d have signed the likes of Xhaka? Absolutely not.
That shit they made us look bang average for 45 minutes lol. Take the rose tinted glasses off Stevie.I never said anything about who we'd sign but they didn't deserve to beat us they were shit
You wouldn't see that objectively from your tower of shit
At Wembley. ?That shit they made us look bang average for 45 minutes lol. Take the rose tinted glasses off Stevie.
Think you’ll find the VAR decision changed the game completely. Had it stood we’d have come out 3-0 winners that day. The momentum swung solely on that decisionThat shit they made us look bang average for 45 minutes lol. Take the rose tinted glasses off Stevie.
