Gus......what a player!

I know a good few were advocating Bindon as MOTM last night. For me, it was Gus, hands down. Outstanding performance.
I think it’s always hard for a defender because their excellent work is often understated while attackers do showy stuff that people remember.
A fantastic cross field pass or through ball as opposed to great anticipation and positional play to break up a dangerous attack. Which are you going to remember longer.

Think Bindon is going to be a top player! Yes he's not the quickest but has everything else a centre back needs he will get stronger too in the next few years. Can't see Forest selling him ! If they would ! I would take him. Tomorrow and I'm pretty sure Wilder would too.

He did a number of spectacular individual things last night, crossbar shot out of nothing and a great assist for Ogbenie, but he also gave the ball away several times in the first half while we were attacking. That allowed them to come forward and put us under pressure, although it didn’t cost us, but it wasn’t a flawless performance, but typical Gus 🙂

Some outstanding brilliant moments from him, including the cross bar shot and the assist.

But I do feel his desire to be involved and come in off the left disrupts our shape and makes our team inbalanced, forcing all our play down the right hand side.

Agree and Bindon hardly put a foot wrong all night.

First 30 mins, it seemed any forward pass was misplaced

That's true, although he was the only one brave enough to try to force the issue in the first half. I'd rather he try the killer balls and fail than take the safe option.

That shot flew in slow motion, I was willing it the entire way.

Agree with this. I thought he was really poor for 30 minutes and gave the ball away constantly. He's got more natural talent than anyone in the squad but he can be frustrating when he's not on it. But then he'll go and win the game with a couple of moments of magic.

Seems to be really up for it last few games last night it was vintage Hamer

the way hamer performed last night indicates to me that the signings of phillips and rothwell has given him a real boost those 3 in the same team what a mouth watering prospect

Yeah, frustrating, but (like a hero of mine in Mark Duffy), he keeps trying them and eventually one will come off and we'll score. Without those passes, we don't score goals. I'd rather the invention than the possession based stuff of Peck and Arblaster.

I think last night he was trying to force the issue when we went a goal behind. We were far too passive in that first 30 minutes and just kept passing between Bindon and Tanganga since no one else bothered to move for the ball. It was Gus popping off shots and moving centrally that got us going, as he was looking at everyone else after he took the shot that just went wide of the post.

Am I seeing things or is there a bit going on between Blaster and Gus. In the Mansfield game Gus and Blaster had a fair set to over one of their goals. Perfectly fine if you ask me. You lose to teams you should beat good players get frustrated.
Last night on a few occasions Gus was throwing his arms around with some of Blasters decision making. Overly gestating. Anyone else noticed this?

Note…more than happy for players to have a disagreement (should seen me and my eight year old go at it after his matches at a weekend) but more curious if anyone has noticed

Arblaster and Hamer are big pals off the field apparently.
I regularly fell out with my best mate on the field in my playing days.
Nothing untoward ...

He'll be gone in the summer, but what a bloody player. He's so many levels above the rest of the team it's untrue. If he properly looked after himself, I think he'd be playing Champions League football.
Gus is similar to the Swiss player Shaqiri who played for Liverpool. At times Shaq could do wonderful things with a ball but at other times he seemed uninvolved. Personally I admire Gus, any player who can do the unusual or create something out of nothing will always get my vote. We've had a few players down the years who were a cut above most other players, Gus happens to be one of those.

I thought he was decent Vs Millwall too. And Ipswich for sure.

He's not been in stellar form this season. I'd say partly due to the season start and I think he like others struggled with Selles and the aftermath.
Then picked up and injury and O'Hare seemed to really hit form (good!) but then he found himself having to settle for being on the bench more.

This isn't me bigging up wilder in this instance. But I genuinely don't think it can be overstated how fragile as a group we were. And it took a while to come even after a few wins we still looked fragile.

But you don't lose quality. You might lose sharpness and fitness.
On his day he's best midfielder in the league. Especially in an offensive way.
Sees moments, passes and hits a ball fine. Unlucky last night with hitting the bar and he wasn't that far off earlier.

Don't forget who signed him, and don't forget who signed the captain as well. No credit for wilder who is back to his cocky arrogance calling the fans " Punters"
