If the club said that we could only afford to buy one of the two,who would you rather have back ?Tricky..me ? Coady....You......?

Given our current squad probably the bray seen as we don't currently have any right backs

Brayford for me. Coady is good, but he's raw and we could get someone with an engine like that more easily.

A defensively-talented right back who gets forward, scores and galvanises a team is a real rarity and The Beard is just that. I'd have him, but I wouldn't be disappointed with either.

Coady for me as i love a proper midfielder who can nearly do the lot.

For me there's too much hype about defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, etc and in coady we could have a player who is both of them and more, and is also going to get even better

Imo this is a no brainer.A player we could propably get for less than a million and by the time he's finished with us could be worth ten times that, where as brayford this wouldn't be the case,so for playing and buisness purposes, this, like i said, imo,is a no brainer.

100% Brayford for me as well.

I think what Brayford and Whispering Bob offer down the flanks, supporting the likes for Flynniesta, Murphy and JCR it gives us some fantastic options to create a hell of a lot of goals. I also think that Brayford's defensive abilities are sometimes overlooked because he can get forward. He's a really good fullback at this level and probably in Championship as well.

Don't also forget that Brayford filled in very well at Centre Half as well.

Coady, don't get me wrong is a really good player. But i'm guessing that Cloughie has been looking elsewhere for the centre midfielder as we've got Basham now as well.

Saying all that, can we not get both :)

I'd imagine that these two options will be kept open until later on in the preseason. I doubt Clough would ever close the door on Brayford though as he seems to rate him so highly.

100% agree. Coady is a player who is in a position to influence games and, at less than £1m is a steal. Love Brayford but, after the Charlton game, may be a 'legend' in many people's eyes.

Fuck it. As Swiss says, let's get both of 'em. The thought of playing Yeovil on a freezing Tuesday night in the 2015/16 season is too much to contemplate.

I would have said Coady straight away, but with Basham and potentially Wallace coming in, not sure we need anymore in that area.

We seem to be waiting on purchasing a right back until we know the situation with Brayford, but when JCR signed he said Freeman spoke to him about it.......does that mean clough is planning to bring him back? Freeman would be a great signing can play left or right back, if no brayford then he would become first choice right back, any injuries to Harris he can switch to left back and Davies can fill that right back gap. Surprised I haven't seen more posters wanting him back. Maybe its since fans watched him get torn apart by Redmond in England U21s game.

Brayford

Full back who scored a couple whilst here a relatively short time
Cult figure.
Fans relate to him

When was the last time fans had a player they could relate to like Brayford?

Well, it depends what you mean by 'afford'. Coady would command a much smaller fee and smaller wages. If you are saying we were given the money to sign Brayford, then presumably we could sign Coady + 1 or 2 more, therefore it's no contest.

Brayford every day of the week, and 1000000000%
I am surprised it is even being asked. Potential vs Proven.

Never have I seen one player come in and totally transformed our season. It is not only what he brought to the field, tons of goals from surging runs, dangerous crosses, his all round defensive abilities but it is also what he brought about off the field.
It had been said by those ITK that he really is one of the nicest guys in football. I believe that spirit of togetherness was engendered by the strength of his personality.
He is a colossus to have around the place. It is a rare quality. You really can't buy that.

Coady was only half the players until the beard arrived.

I really hope we heaven and earth to get him back.

I think the man be playing games with us there.

Although I always hope he will return to us.

Hmmmm....
I make it 10 for Bray, and 8 for CC so far....so, really divided so far, maybe the Prince is reading this and will get his cheque book out for both !!!!We'd have a really good squad then, guaranteed to get us up..he could then have a mill on us at 6/1 to be champs and clean up
:) simples...

Just felt like saying, top, top bloke is John. I doubt we'll ever see again a player come to us for a few months yet make such a huge impression on the club and it's supporters UTB

John Brayford..it's not often that a buzz of excitement goes round the ground when a full back gets the ball.
And he seems to be a top bloke and a Blade too!
It's a no brainer for me if it comes to a choice...but it doesn't have to be either / or, does it?

Again though, it comes back to: let's say we can afford, let's say Clough wants him.... it still ignores the fact that he would be an idiot to move to League 1. Brayford will be wanted by every Championship club, and probably a few Premier League clubs, so why on earth would he choose a move to League 1? Fans always raise their hopes at times like this, but you must remember there is no loyalty in football. He may have enjoyed his time here, but for a 26 year old lad to go from Premier League to League 1 would be complete madness. It will mean he probably never plays Premier League football in his life, which he has said is his main aim. Coady, however, has only played for one club, so is a much more achievable target.

I think players will play 3rd division football if the club and manager are right.

It's the wages that fuck things up.

I'm sure Harry would re-sign and I'm sure we've put hell of a contract on the table (for the 3rd division) and will at least double his wages but his agent will be telling him he can treble them in division 2 - same with Brayford although I'd guess that his situation will see our offer being bettered by way more than 3x.
