Playing Cannon as a winger (or just playing Cannon in general and I know he didn't play him as a winger today)

Have a set up reliant on good wide wingers and then not having good wide wingers.

Leaving your central midfield wide open

Only playing one up front

Having a soft as shit centre back on loan from the scabs and playing him at every opportunity

Having Ben Mee train but not signed up and starting games

Bringing on McCallum

I could go on, I don’t think he has done anything right all season except sign Tanganga

Who signed him?
That doesn’t matter now…This is supposed to be the brave new world, with a progressive, highly enlightened coach fitting square pegs in square holes.…All I’ve seen is a little boy lost…Soz.

Completely vacates the middle of the pitch O’Hare and Hamer naturally push too high up that leaves his holding midfielder (Peck or Soumare) completely isolated when we turn over possession (which we do a lot) this then means that the two advanced midfielders are completely out of the game and the opposition midfield can either run or pass around his holding player at will.

This also means we struggle to retain the ball as when the holding player receives the ball if he is pressed effectively the opposition can close the passing lanes to the two more advanced midfielders taking them out of the game completely either forcing the holding player to play backwards or side ways.

Having the two advanced midfielders so high up also clogs up the top of the pitch. We’re playing two inverted wide forwards whose instinct is to cut in on their favoured foot and drive towards the box in the channel between the CB and the fullback. However that space is already occupied by the advanced midfielder so when we do attack you make it nice and easy for the full back as both attacking players and in the same areas of the pitch so he can coordinate with his CB to contest that space even more and just mop it up. If you want to push our fullback up to try and create on overlap to compensate for this then yours leaving that entire side of the pitch wide open for a counter. This also seems to be having the effect that the wide players are staying wide to try and find space and that’s leaving the lone striker very isolated.

Just play a holding 2 for fucks sake and only one of Hamer or O’Hare as the 10 that frees up space for the wide forwards to cut inside and support the striker and lets our fullback overlap to create overloads outside without leaving us wildly exposed as the holding midfielder on that side can drop in to cover.

It's the tactics that have finally changed my mindset today.

Initially my opinion was that he hasn't been properly backed. That is, of course, still true. We didn't recruit well enough or quickly enough.

However, tactics are a huge part of the equation too. The midfield leaves all 3 players in there exposed. As a result, we turn over possession and get caught in the transition. This leaves the back four exposed and they look woeful too. In possession, we can barely string two passes together, let alone build possession and so we hoof it long to one or two forwards who prefer to play off the should or run the channels. As a result, they too look redundant, ineffective or are left fighting for a touch. The whole system sells everyone short.

We aren't solid defensively, we don't retain possession and we don't create chances. It simply isn't good enough.

My mindset changed to needing a change of manager today, just because I don't see any shoots of growth or ANY redeeming qualities of our current tactics, that would otherwise offer a glimmer of hope.
