New record set at Wembley 33,000 Blades on the pitch as Porter scores in the 89th Minute.

Just how good would that be? Porterized at Wembley...can we make it the 90th minute though just to settle the nerves that bit more?!

Not really 33,000 Blades though is it?

It's about 15,000-20,000 Blades and 10,000+ day trippers.

Very true. Nowt more annoying than when I went vs burnley and some woman sat behind me kept asking the players' names and their fucking life story. Because of her I also had to sit down for 90 mins. Bitch

It's a bit pathetic really.

Last season we couldn't even muster 15,000 for a play off semi-final.

I think you mean 'because of the stadium regulations'.

Don't give a monkeys about the 'regulations' but I aren't enough of an arsehole to prevent someone else from watching the game (however much of a non-fan they may be). Been done to death, but I just wish they could congregate us regular goers together to stop all this nonsense.

The season we went up a mate who was a sponsor invited me into the executive seats at the home match v Leeds and I had some mouthy 50 something 'lady' from Leeds pulling on my jacket every time the thousand odd people in front of me stood up and I followed suit as you do at a match in moments of entertainment. I was enough of an arsehole to tell her and her husband where they were best sitting if they didn't like the view.

These one match wonders do need to realise a Tuesday night loss away at Peterborough is slightly different to a big occasion at Wembley, maybe they should respect the fans who've kept the club in business over the years.

We have to think of a response to the "Mauled by tigers chant".

How about a chorus of Meowing, like a lot of little kittens?

HH

I don't think any response can embarrass them more than doing that chant. It's a tragedy to football and its supporters. I don't know how self-respecting adult football fans can do that.

They've bought tickets. For a game you can watch from the comfort of your armchair. They're making a 350 mile round trip and paying whatever that costs. They're Blades.

I disagree. I bet some of the people who are going wouldn't even bother to watch it on TV if they were at home because they have no interest in football.

Disagree Pete , I normally make only 2 games a season costs me around €1000 when everything's included , about £750, probable costs swizzler Bergen Blade more , I've been to the lane when there was less than 13,000 in it , if people want to come and see the Blades who am I to criticise them , lots of things could stop them from going money being the No1 factor .
Ease up Pete , have a few gargles and enjoy our day , who knows maybe the footballing gods aren't going to kick us in the nuts this time .
UTB .

Fair enough. I was just making the point that loads of people who are going will just be going for a day out at London/Wembley and won't give a monkeys about Sheffield United.

I saw this first hand in 2008 when Barnsley got to the semi-final against Portsmouth. I know more people that went who were either:

a) Football fans but didn't support Barnsley

b) Not football fans at all. Mainly girls who got dragged along by their dads etc

It's about 15,000-20,000 Blades and 10,000+ day trippers.

After a few months of relative positivity, your "any opportunity to knock the Blades" tendencies have started to resurface recently. At least you haven't resorted to your old pro-pig rantings - but give it time.

We averaged over 30,000 a few seasons ago. Were 10,000+ of those not really Blades either?

Looks like your team hasn't sold all its tickets tonight at Leicester Pete. Maybe its the 150 mile round trip for a game you can watch on the telly?

I have to agree here. Normally, I manage around five games a season. Sunday will cost me up to six hundred Euro, which means I can forget about my planned holiday in May. I dont really care to be labelled a 'day tripper'. I am sure there are many more like me.

Everybody who wants a ticket can get one so no hard luck stories about I couldnt get a ticket etc etc.
What do you want United to do ?? Just gives us 20k as we only want the fans that come regularly to the Lane to have a ticket
Whats your problem !!!

Day trippers who ought to be encouraged Nuddy! Unless you'd prefer a static fanbase and 20,000 crowds next time we're in the Premiership? Did you not enjoy the magnificent atmosphere against Charlton? If you did, don't knock the people who helped to create it.

Yet another example, I'm sorry to say, of the sort of parochial S2 thinking that will get us precisely nowhere.

I want 40,000, nay 50,000 supporting the Blades. If they start out as day-trippers, so be it.

Those 10,000 weren't Blades because they had all disappeared again 3 seasons later. I'd say the 14,000 who turned up against Yeovil last season were proper Blades.

How exactly am I knocking the Blades by stating the obvious that we'll have some day trippers going to the Hull match?

Nothing happened that would have brought you to your feet, I can assure you!

Why are you flying off the handle?

Where have I said I don't welcome the day trippers? Where have I said I don't want us to attract new fans?

I find it funny how stating facts still equates to "pro-pig rantings" in your head.

I dragged my daughter along when she was 6 years old she had a ST at 7 and has had one every season since shes now 25
Defend that !!!

Some of the people I know who went to that Barnsley match haven't been since. That's the definition of a day tripper.

If your daughter is still going now then good. I'm glad to hear it.

It's how you only pick out those facts that put the pigs in a better light but ignore those that reflect positively on the Blades.

It's true what they say - it's all dingles and pigs in Barnsley.

What was the point of your post about day-trippers then? Forgive me, but it seemed rather contemptuous to me. I think one or two others have got the same false impression as well!

My brother has been to one match in the last 2 years and he's going to the Hull game. I'll leave you to guess the only game that he's been to. Pisses me off when people don't even consider going to the matches normally yet when it comes to the big games, they're desperate to get a ticket.
