How much is Europa League worth?

I will put a slightly different slant on it and say it is "priceless to me"
couldn't careless about how much we got - to actually go and see Utd in a proper European tie away from home would be a dream. I know a bucket load went to see us in Italy yonks ago in the Anglo/English thingy, but this would be the real McCoy - even if it meant going to Ukraine!!!

To think all we really have to do is beat a very very average Hull City team - oh dear I don't think I will sleep much lading up to this game.

I wonder if Nigel Clough is aware of how close we are to history and how revered he may become at BDTBL - some of us who are old enough can remember the impact his father had at Derby and then particularly at Forest.

Dare we dream???? - you bet...........and lets make it a reality by being positive all the way up to the Semi.

I don't think you can opt out of the JPT:

http://www.football-league.co.uk/regulations/20130704/section-2-membership_2293633_2125714

"3.2 Further, for the avoidance of doubt, every Club, by becoming and remaining a member of The League, agrees to compete in the League Competition, The Football League Cup, The Football Association Challenge Cup and all other competitions conducted or controlled by The League and in which it is eligible to compete."

If the unthinkable did happen, and we do achieve a EL spot. I just hope we treat the JPT with respect, despite its bad press its a great way for small clubs to get to Wembley and win something.

I certainly don't want to see subs in the first minute like a certain other club, even if it may be detrimental to the league.

So that would be a minimum of 6 games in the europa league, The JPT, the early stages of league and FA cups and a full 46 games season (Plus potential playoffs).

If you think the team will be running on empty at the end of this season, just think what they will be like come next april.
We best get ourselves promoted this season then

No. We have to get through 2 qualifying rounds to get to the group stage, if we qualify as cup runners up. Both rounds happen before the end of August. The likelihood is we would be out of Europe by the end of August.

It's only if we qualify as cup winners that we automatically get to the group stage.

So the answer to the OP is 'Fuck all'

Saw an Allsvenskan match on holiday between two of Sweden's top sides and on that evidence the English Third Division is far superior. It was worse than watching Wednesday!

I went to Malmo last July for the away leg with Hibs. The biggest problem we'd have is that we would be in effect in pre-Season mode whereas they are about halfway through their League season. That, and the £7/8 a pint.

Brilliant trip, can only imagine what it would be like with us. What happens if Arsenal win the Cup but finish 5th??

It goes to the 7th place team in the premier league. as Man city won the league cup.

I think the team finishing 7th would take the European spot. I'm not 100% certain of that though.

I know it's only a rough and ready guide, but the average attendance of the champions of the countries we might expect to play is as follows:

Belarus: 4256
Slovakia: 2933
Romania: 9251
Sweden: 18,900
Croatia: 11,417
Poland 19,144

http://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/attn.htm

These are the figures for the champions, so those qualifying for the EL are likely to have somewhat lower attendances. Obviously, the lower the crowds, the less they can spend on wages and the less good their players should be. On that basis only Polish and Swedish teams have crowds comparable to United.

We would probably have a fighting chance against clubs from those countries.

Although I think the question of the Blades in Europe is a bit far fetched at the moment (we've still to play Hull which no one should regard as easy), it would certainly be fascinating to see how we coped with teams from the continent. Long way to go before we're thinking about trips to Belgium, Gdansk, or wherever.......but think on, if Swansea can do it?

And Bradford from their run. So its entirely unheard off, however unlikely.
