Silent, which of those was the goal by Woodward (I think) at 3.57 from a long way out. Was it the goal at Derby you mention?

Cheers,

Cheers. A bit before my time, but some great footage in those clips - I wish I'd been around to have seen some of those players!

I may have missed it but I did't see Brown's goal against Wednesday there!

I did see: Deane's in the 2-0 win and Whitehouse's in the 3-1 (double season), Tonge and Akinbiyi at Hillsborough (also a double season) and Deane's backpost header (presumably the 1-1 draw in I think 1993?). Have I missed any?

There was a classic Brown volley from (I think) a game against Ipswich, but don't think the Brown volley against that lot was in there.

Brown scored at least two memorable volleys for us before the Wednesday game. On was against Ipswich, as you say, in the FA Cup. The game was a thriller, we went 3-0 up, they pulled it back to 3-3 but Pesch grabbed the winner. They got some manner of revenge that season in the League though when they came from 2-0 down to win 3-2, despite Counago being sent off.

The other I remember was from the season before. We beat Birmingham 4-0. Monty (I know!) got the first, then Brown's volley and then Pesch got two, leading to plenty of jokes about him sleeping in the spare room that night!

On the first run through I couldn't tell which one it was, it was probably the Ipswich goal though, being from the famous season.

No Sabella Sunderland goal. Nothing between Billy Gillespie and Tony Currie eras. Maybe a lack of footage.

It's a great video but yes I noticed THAT Brown goal was missing. Strange - as it's one of our most memorable goals.

If only they'd managed to find footage of Keith Edwards' 'Pele' goal or Bob Atkins volley at Millmoor. I'd love to see those two goals again.

Well, I wasn't old enough to see anything before the 90s, but some of that defending/goalkeeping was absolutely criminal! You wouldn't see that in any of the top 3/4 divisions nowadays. Was it a case of the attackers being far too good or has the standard just improved a hell of a lot in the last 30 years? Any of our more *cough* experienced members care to answer my question?

An explanation would be wasted on someone who rates Kevin McDonald as high quality ;)

Len Badger V ipswich I would've liked.
When we had the YTV video in 1993 a fan asked YTV why the 7 goals against Ipswich wasnt included. They replied saying that the picture quality wasnt good enough. We wouldnt have been bothered by the picture quality as it is better than nothing

I think the original highlights of the second half had to be shown in black and white due to poor floodlighting - i.e. not good enough for colour telly at the time

Cheers for this. My family didnt have colour tv until World Cup 1974 so I didnt know this until your post. In the early 1990s Saint and Greavsie showed Woody's 3rd and 4th goal (our 6th and 7th) and the footage was in black and white so for the last 20 plus years I had assumed that all the highlights of that Ipswich match was in black and white
