Maybe there is a forum bingo fundraiser idea in the making. You'd need another 10 to make a 3 line card

There's got to be at least 5/6 hilarious puns/misspellings/bastardisations of the new fellas name to stick on one too.

I don't really care what other fans think of him. If other fans read our views on Wilder they'd either get better than Pep Guardiola or washed up stubborn dinosaur. So let's not pretend that the opinions of fans are meaningful when it comes to this. Views on the internet are like online reviews. It's either 5 stars amazing, or 1 star worst ever. There's too much exaggeration to emphasise a point to get people to agree with them. You'll rarely find a 2, 3 or 4 star review and neutrals will be more influenced by what they see is the majority.

I'll probably not use this to promote my site to be honest

3/5 - would read again.

The "view from" always has united as a "big physical team" even when our midfield had Scougal, Flynn and Murphy in it, and Alcock at Centre back.

That Clough team being described as physical every week made me realise we will never lose the tag. Maybe that's why we've gone for a Spanish coach

Wilder mark 1 the Roysview was the most enjoyable read after just about every match until the relegation season.

Wilder mark 2, grim but accurate and fair reading and nothing like the mark 1 reads.

Ha ha ! We had at least two seasons of "our worst performance in years, never got going against a pretty average team"

Totally missing the point that our intensity had just pressured teams into submission.

Those first 4 years were my favourite as a blade, loved it all, until bloody COVID pretty much brought it to an end.

I don't think it was all down to Covid. After the restart Fleck and Stevens were out of form and never recovered this. They were poor and continued this poor form into the next season.

The following summer teams around us strengthened their teams, we strengthened our squad with inferior players in the "greatest transfer window ever," according to Wilder. We only replaced Henderson. The rest of our starting line up was pretty much the same team as the previous season. We didn't improve the team one bit. To add to the poor form of Fleck and Stevens, Lundstram dropped tools and decided he was too good for us now after becoming a fantasy football cheat code, and couldn't be bothered to try in matches while he wound down his contract, but Wilder kept picking him anyway (no surprises there really). Ramsdale wasn't a patch on Henderson and unreliable in the first half of the season. O'Connell was a huge loss. We also lost McBurnie and Berge through injuries for part of the season, Brewster was a waste of money and Ampadu was like a deer in headlights and looked out of his depth.

So Covid was only a small reason why we got relegated. All of the above contributed a hell of a lot more to it.

Agreed. I was more commenting on the fact that in that season when we finished 9th, I was still living the dream until the football stopped. Was Norwich our last home game?

Absolute cracker of a game. Sharp scored and Hendo pulled off the most amazing double save in the 2nd half.

Then we didn't get back in grounds for 18 months and much of what you state occured, along with other players losing form. Great times though.

These days I'm generally the optimist about Blades. I can't think about the potential gloom anymore, I need us to be the light.

There's no reason Selles couldn't be a success here. Everyone should respect him and support him.

We're not a one man club - Wilder was a brilliant part of our modern history - but, presumably the owners are trying to modernise the coaching and infrastructure. There are methods for better fitness, better football, better squads etc. SUFC need to evolve our methods, if we want to aim for sustained top flight football.

But without covid there would have been continuity and no need to restart. we'd have undoubtedly finished that season stronger, and the following summer would have played out differently. how, we will never know but covid effected everyone and everything.

Noticed a post from a Reading fan saying Selles only got the job after they unsuccessfully attempted to get Chris Wilder ,,,,,,,
(It's a funny old game)

Fans views are always a bit disparate, much like our own supporters. He seems well liked as a person, just lacking experience I depth.
Malleable enough for COH and their plans going forward?

Right age group for becoming a good long term blades manager, if he gets half a chance. Under COH, a slow or indifferent start will not be tolerated. They expect promotion this time around, followed by establishing us in the Prem.

Maybe too much too soon for this fella. His sides do well against the better sides and he needs to prepare and research the opposition like that for every game. Wait and see.

This line is being pushed a lot, but I don't buy it.

*The road ahead may require patience, but also promises excitement, growth, and a footballing identity that reflects both our history and our ambition."

There's no mention of promotion in their statement. Is mention of Selles and our long-term future.

And he’s off! Thanks Roy, hope you enjoyed the break - thanks for your cracking service 😍

At the end of the season where we finished 9th I predicted we'd be relegated the following season. Why? Firstly, despite finishing 9th, we relied on a solid defence but only scored 39 goals in 38 matches. Our top scorer only got 6 goals.

In order to stay up we'd need to replace some of our existing eleven with better players. Wilder brought in 13 players the season we finish 9th. Only Henderson, Mousset and McBurnie played regularly. So I didn't trust him to replace players as he was too loyal to the players who got us up in the first place. We'd also need a lot of money to replace them and I had my doubts that the Prince would authorise this given Wilder's wasteful spending the season before. Add to this we had no players that we could sell for significant amounts to fund the summer spending like other teams.

As soon as the "greatest transfer window" happened I knew we were going down that season.

I think this Hull fan is trying to be positive about him, but please, no 😂

“Selles would have flown up the league had he have had millar, belloumi and an actual striker. With shef United they are going to guarantee playoff”
