The disallowed 'goal'

When burrows struck the ball Souza was not between the ball and the keeper, subsequently according to the RULES it should have been allowed
Fucks sake some whoppers on here who clearly don't know the rules. It's not about where he's standing when the ball was struck, if he's impeding the keeper's ability to play the ball which he was then it's offside. Guarantee 100% everybody saying not offside now would be agreeing it was offside at the other end. Embarrassing yourselves.

Souza's to the keepers side he's not affecting his vision as I see it.
He’s affecting his peripheral vision I would say.

All opinions really, the only one that matters is the decision made by the ref / VAR

It’s what it is I guess, the upshot is another play off defeat. It’s shite and I feel for those who are having to schlep back from there

Showed Sunderland (fans and players) exactly what to expect from VAR (they we're in L1 when it was introduced to the PL), be surprised if any of them are enjoying VAR next season when it makes questionable decisions regularly.

Also, is that 8-second GK rule coming to the EFL, or just the PL?

Vini there or not he wouldnt have saved it. Didnt see the ball till late because of the 2/3 players in front. Problem is Vini moved to the right so it was easy for VAR to interpret it as offside due to interfering with Keeper. Vini goes left and goal would have stood. However look to the right where the heart is Sunderland player playing them onside.

My biggest issue is we played what 50 games without VAR because Championship does not use it then for some explicable reason its used at Play Off Final.

It is absolutely about “where he’s standing when the ball was struck “
If he’s not offside (at that time) there is no “impeding the keeper’s ability to play the ball” - unless by foul means - which was not the decision

So what are we saying? Lads, in the milliseconds it takes for the ball to fall to a player outside the box, can you please get yerselves out of the way just in case a player has a shot, we can’t be in the 6 yard box, the keeper needs a clear view bless him.

Or………just accept 6 yard boxes are a bit busy when teams are trying to score a goal, and without TV cameras and VAR it’s been a goal for all eternity.

VAR is killing the game and whoppers like you are falling for it.

When a decision takes that long to be made, it suggests the original decision should have stood, but the longer it takes, we all know that actually the decision is about to be reversed. This for me is why modern football can get in the bin.

If you are happy with this sort of bollocks, like the shitshow at Tottenham as well, way back when (2019), then good luck to you.

Injury time in the second half was a joke as well. Nobody, least of all the ref, had any idea how much time was left in the end after all the delays. I’d be very surprised if 7 minutes was actually played, though.

This evening, I genuinely feel like I’m finished with football. Think I’ll listen to some Gentle Giant.

But he is offside when the ball is struck. He doesn't have to be directly in front of the keeper to impact him. At the other end and you agree.

So in conclusion, its offside.

The ref
Kavanaugh has probably looked at that goal and realized the keeper did not have his vision impeded keeper could not have saved it from his position even though he saw enough of it to attempt to save it.He made a big mistake or incompetence

VAR needs to employ AI. Their keeper had zero chance of saving that rocket even if the box was empty.
That was my thought. Offside or not, impeded vision or not, there was no way anyone was saving that.

If impeding keepers view is such a thing then cancel all corner kicks, as there are 16 players impeding keepers everytime the ball gets crossed into the six yard box.
