well weve 2 weeks really to get the 3/4 new players in before norwich havent we nowts gonna happen before watford

He's on the bench today 😄 Don't think he was injured previously so strange he is now making the bench. Read some comments from Southampton fans about his potential departure and almost all were "I'll drive him there myself" "He's useless"

Thought the deal was done?

Why would they bench him and risk him coming on getting injured, or getting injured in a warm up, or falling down the steps of the team bus?

Shows what some idiots on here know.

come on spend summat buy diaz

It would be a massive risk to buy anyone decent because presumably they would be demanding at least Brewster money.

If we’re promoted then paying decent wages is fine however if we fail then we need to lower the wage bill not increase it.

The owners could be ambitious billionaires but FFP rules stop them from over gambling and spending big, which is a positive because buying good players is fine if it works

But when it doesn’t work, like the Brewster transfer then it puts a real strain on the clubs finances.

So I’d say don’t buy Bereton Diaz because we can’t afford his wages, however a loan deal just for this season makes sense.

TBF, things change all the time in the transfer window, BBD being on the bench doesn't mean we aren't signing him.

Think it was mentioned that he would be coming in early had we still been under PA's ownership and I presume, if Russell Martin was still their manager.

There has been two significant changes in the last few weeks, we have new owners and they have a new manager.

If the initial agreement was a loan, maybe our new owners have tried to change it to a permanent deal, or maybe the new Southampton manager wants to have a look at BBD.

This is only speculation but deals are constantly changing in football.

Was told before the game last week it's all verbally agreed. No doubt Southampton are looking to see if a better offer comes in, that's their prerogative. I've better things to do than come chatting made up shite on here. Take it or leave it.

What are you on about ‘demand at least Brewster money’??
So we should never buy anyone again because of one transfer almost 4 years ago??
Amazing

yes used 4 subs today and he didnt get on surely will be back here next week maybe were haggling with saints about the amount of his salary we pay

If true, then it's not all agreed is it. You don't agree something then wait to see if a better offer comes in. I'd call that not agreed.

You'd be amazed how football clubs operate.

Anyway, take or leave - I'm not here to argue.
It doesn't surprise me, this is how businesses operate. It wouldn't surprise me if we did get BBD, that he didn't arrive until the last day of the JTW.

There's no immediate incentive for Southampton to sell. They probably know we desperately need a left winger and also know if a few other Championship clubs pick up injuries in January, then they may become interested too, pushing the transfer fee up

No championship clubs can afford to pay that kind of fee

Whats this about us being linked with Barry? We're not signing Bald Barry from the pigs are we?
