...brilliant. I signed up on here a couple of years ago but used Bladesmad forum every day and very rarely used this site. The difference between the 2 is that BM has become overrun by 5-10 posters who don't have any respect for other peoples posts and try to shoot them down at every opportunity. There seems to be a lot more sensible discussions on here where people answer posts they don;t agree with in a much more dignified manner. Now we all love a laugh and like to take the piss which is great fun but you can't see any nastiness on this forum. We're all Blades so all the shit should be directed at the wendy and not ourselves.UTB!

Our few rules state that posters should be respectful and it's three strikes and you're out as far as personal abuse goes. Foxy and I are busy people and have no inclination to babysit grown adults so users who can't be trusted don't tend to last too long.

The main difference we have over here is that we aren't mods, we're admin. Foxy choses the forum software and the server we run on. With all the hard work put in, we aren't prepared to let people spoil it for us and everyone else who wishes to use the resource properly.

Blade58 over the last couple of months threads have been dissapearing, it's not letting you post new topics, sometimes not even letting you log on, servers have been going down and it is incredibly slow. And i ant even started yet. This forum is miles better

I think the mods hands are tied. They only have very limted access to the back-end and their only pemissions will be post and user moderation.

For anything technical with regards to the software or server, they're reliant on Footymad to sort it. And far be it for me to suggest that perhaps their only concern is ad-revenue hence the reason they killed their sites with bloat and pop-ups...

point taken Linz, the only reason the site is there is to make money, you can barely see the posts for ads. Hiding ads when you are logged in is a great idea. You have to understand what the posters need.

Hi zablade, don't think we ever spoke while we were on BM, but like yourself the technical problems the site were having still haven't improved. I noticed that some of the posters had managed to sign back on, but I still couldn't manage to sign back on myself, so out of exasperation I decided to become a member here. Got to say, technically this site is a big improvement with several good features that BM lacks. I got on well with a few of the posters there, equally there were one or two who seemed intent on seeking an argument. That's probably the big difference between here and BM, Any irritation seems directed towards Wendy, which, after all, is the natural order. Take care mate and season's greetings UTB

Could I, without being antagonistic (it's not my style), ask newcomers to please avoid text speak and other grammatical affectations such as excessive use of dialect (it's alreyt in small doses). We don't have any grammar police (apart from an occasional nick by broomhillblade or me.

All I ask is that we all (new and old alike) think of our audience when writing. English is a wonderful language, capable of great flexibility, but it can be broken!

Before discovering this board I often read BM without joining, and it was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. It seemed futile to join as the 'discussions' going on were full of so many people spouting their views and 'facts' who had no interest in hearing anyone's points who disagreed. On this board I have had an alternative view to the majority a few times, but off the top of my head I can't think of any occasions where other posters didn't take my points on board then reply with their argument in a polite manner. I agree with Pinchy, people don't have to write like an English graduate but some of the stuff on BM and other forums is just incomprehensible.

Indeed... we have users from all over the world and for some, English is a second language. Couple that with a broad spectrum of ages and "txt spk" is troublesome. Most newbies pick up our style fairly easily though.

Yeah I joined that site after my lovely 606 closed down , but yeah I never felt very homely down at bladesmad and as the op said its dominated by 5 - 10 posters.
This site is sound, its not a musical masterpiece but its not a bad site.
