noThere is an obvious winner here - but he is already in as no. 1! If Paddy wins, the place will go to the runner up. In preparation for the unlikely event that no-one else gets a vote, if you do vote for Paddy, please also state your second choice.

Please also note that Kevin Davies is not the Kevin Davies. He was a reserve centre back who never made a first team apperance.

Players wore other numbers as follows:

Ullathorne: no.28 2000-01, no. 3 2001-02
Kenny: no. 1 2003-10
Cryan: no.35 2000-01, no. 31 2001-02, no. 21 2002-03
Hurst: no. 26 2003-04, no. 38 2007
Shipperley: no. 9 2005-06
Simonsen: no. 1 2010-12
Bartley: no. 21 2010
Collins: no. 28 2006, no. 15 2011 -
Conneally: no. 26 2011

As Davies, Shipperley and Conneally never actually played a first team game in the shirt, they are designated joke candidates, as is Collins (he had this shirt during the relegation season). Vote for them and your votes won't be counted unless you justify it in the thread.

I voted for Kenny. Second choice Ullathorne.

Kenny, next is Shippers for me....

As I mentioned in the first post , Shipperly never played a game in the shirt. He held it for half a season in the PL season as a reserve. Are you sure you want to have him as second choice?

I voted Paddy too, without reading the opening post first. Second would be Shipps for me

I don't know why I bother with the first post....

To reiterate, if you vote for Shipperly, you are voting for his performances in the reserves in the first half of the 2006-07 season. HE NEVER PLAYED IN THE FIRST TEAM AS NO. 23.

Apologies, Kyle Bartley then for number 2. It's due to me looking on my phone

I can't vote for any of those unfortunately. All toss. Ullathorne was "OK". Kenny obviously but his best days were in the #1. Wasn't #23 his first season? (I know we did have a fantastic year)

Three people have voted for the non-playing Shipperley. As noted above, all these votes will be disallowed, unless his voters justify it in the thread.

For those seven people who voted for Shipperley
Please explain why you think he was the best 23 in the half season of 2006-07 when he didn't make a first team appearance. Otherwise, your votes will be disallowed. If you voted for him by mistake thinking you were voting for him in the promotion season, please post a new vote in the thread.

What a terrible set of choices. How many games did Kenny play in that number just out of interest.

I've gone for Morrison as a kind of cult hero cartoon character who didn't quite fit in to standard kits and seeming to be a park hard man rather than a professional footballer. The only other positive I can think of was Terry Phelan's bird like running slightly amusing me. Bartley can do one as I thought he was very disappointing and could sense our general disarray before swanning off to the joke league in Scotland for a free winners medal rather than have us tarnish his reputation with a relegation.

Kenny played every game of the Triple Assault season as the 23 expect when he was rested for the FA Cup 4th round game and the last league game at Watford.

Why not just remove him Darren?

What's the point of including people who never played in the shirt?

Because they had the squad number and for all I know they have may have played brilliantly in the reserves that season and Warnock/Wilsor or whoever was a fool not to play them....

This exercise has proved that no matter how clearly you explain things, then there will always be some planks that vote for someone they should not have. It's pretty much impossible to make things numpty proof on this forum.

Kenny aside, the no. 23 shirt has not really seen much success has it. Ullathorne best of a bad bunch for me.

No point voting for Kenny if he's already in the squad so I think I'll go with Bartley.

Darren if they never played in the shirt why put them up? We don't have access to the squad data you have so it is a bit silly. You'd be better putting that info above the poll (though not sure that you can). I've always voted first before reading the thread. Had I seen that I would have gone for someone else.
