...they would see the day when Sheffield United would lose 6 successive games in the 3rd Division and be bottom of that division?

This is as low as the club has been in close on 125 years. He has to go.

Do you live in a cave? Only is S2? Prehistoric? You love hoof?

Which "he"? Because by my reckoning there's a coterie of besuited puddle drinkers equally as culpable for bringing this club this far in six short years.

If we count cup games and count the JPT game as a draw, his record over the last 1o games is:

P10 W0 D2 L8 F4 A16.

That is against fucking 3rd and 4th division opposition.

We have never had a worse manager.

Well we did get to 11th in Division four 32 years ago plus a week on 21st September 1981. Just give him time.

Yes, but thus far said puddle drinkers thus far at least kept us competitive at the top of the 3rd division...

13th actually :-)

You could say the whole 4th division season was worse than this. I would disagree.

I disagree - he has to be kept on to finish the transition. We won't go down this season and by the end of it, we'll be glad we didn't bottle it.

Not sure where 13th came from unless you are counting games other teams played between the 21st and 26th September 1981. I don't keep records of those!

I am pretty sure that after losing to Stockport on the 21st, we were 13th.

We don't agree on much, but I am in total agreement.

Just checked the relevant programme. Our lowest ever league position was 12th on D4 going into the game v Scunthorpe on 26/9/81 after winning 2, drawing 1 and losing 2 of our first 5 games.

Give me the bottle any day, in fact I'll have to open another one now to dull the pain!

Good idea. I'm off up the pub now and intend to drink more beer in any one night than I have done since 2nd May 1981.

He's right and wrong at the same time for me.

What I mean by that is we're in a constant state of anarchy. Fans screamed for the removal of Blackwell, we ogt rid. Ditto Adams. Ditto Wilson. Now this guy. And at each and every regime change we want an "everybody out, we need a root and branch change of everything we do at this club"

And look where this constant changing of direction has got us. A tsunami of ever changing Directors/Managers/Players never here long enough to grow any sort of real affection for the place and its' people, a disconnect reciprocated by around 10,000 fans in the last six years too. They don't care about us, we do likewise. Between us, we've turned Bramall Lane into a soulless, soundless, joyless hole which I can't remember the last time I walked away from feeling glad I came. It has to stop.

The thing is, is it the right time for it to stop or do we need one more spin of the merry-go-round? There's the bit I think he's wrong about. Right idea, wrong manager and time to implement it, but what we do need before we can move forward is get some footballing experience onto the Board so when we make a decision it's better informed than the last six or seven have been.

For our once proud football club to be bottom of the third division is quite frankly humiliating for everyone involved and everyone at the club should be completely embarrassed by it. To be able to justify the manager's position one has to be able to reference visible progress on the field of play. All I keep hearing is that we played well first half but to me that only represents progress if it produces something, that something being a goal!

This leads me to two important questions and something that the club hierarchy need to ask themselves.....1) do they feel Weir will be able to turn things around and take the club forward?.....if the answer is yes then question 2) will he be able to turn the tide quickly enough to stop us from being relegated? If the answer is yes then stick with him. If the answer is no then change it now without further delay. It really is that simple.

Agree with Raul though, that we really need someone with more knowledge of the game to make these decisions.....in an ideal world.

It will be alright at least for 60 mins our football looked nice and pretty and that is all that matters to Pinchy and his lackeys, meanwhile like a snowball rolling down the hill the momentum towards division four is gathering pace at a frightening rate.

I do not want us to sack another manager and start again and am all for a change of culture/philosophy but everything we have seen on the field after the first game has suggested the present incumbent does not have a clue. Not a Scooby doo. Tactically inept, stubborn beyond belief, team that gets worse as games go on, awful substitutions, rarely a shot on goal let alone any/many goals and players who could not do any worse if they tried.

He talked a good game, seemed to have a good reputation and all his badges etc. He said the right things in forums/in the press etc. When it has come down to it; he is utterly hopeless. The team is not great but its a mid table side at worst with some of the players (although crap still better than many in this league - see last season under Wilson). I fail to see what this lets wait another game approach is going to yield. It is just delaying the inevitable and making it a proper relegation battle for his replacement where as if the change is made now we could maybe head towards some level of mediocrity (yes, that's how bad it is).

I agree that we all stamp our feet and continually shout for a managerial change and we (I include myself) are guilty of over reaction and hoping if we change the manager it will work. However, I cannot see how the fans can be blamed for this. We don't keep picking these utter incompetents as our managers (most they have got dreadfully wrong - Weds - Jones, Soton - Atkins, Leeds - Grayson etc all made changes that at least got their side out of this god forsaken league). Struggle to see how we can be brandished as being impatient or childish. We are 24th in the third tier and are a laughing stock.

He has to go I am afraid. I have seen nothing and I mean nothing to suggest he will ever turn this around and if he ever makes it as a manager in any level he has to improve 100%. Sadly he is going to need several years of managing youth football/non league etc before he may realise his faults. His ridiculous stubbornness and inability to get the best or even close to the best out of granted ordinary players and our laughable inability to score a goal (fashion a chance) let alone win a game against some utter dross is inexcusable.

If we wait till Friday it will just be another uncomfortable and ugly scene at Bramall Lane and the usual car park demo before he is eventually removed.

People may say there is no one they can bring in or what good is changing it? Sorry but we cannot get any worse (look at the table/results). I would have more confidence with a pub league manager in charge at the moment. I do not even think the players believe the way they are being told to play and the tactics will herald results.

Most football and in the country would expect Weir to be sacked and I know our reputation for changing managers is well know but in this case the board have more reasons to act than not. Sadlly I worry that they are going to give it another week but then the inevitable atmosphere and defat Friday will bring an end and then they can say the fans wanted him out; it was not our decision.

Can't disagree with anything you've said there Deadbat. I've been a defender of Weir but have run out of justification and excuses for him. Really wants this appointment to work and move us in the right direction but I've lost hope of that happening.

It just seems to go on and on every week we get lower in the table. The Wolves are playing poorly according to their fans, some say we will surprise and get a result there.Look what is coming Crawley with 16 goals for then away at Coventry who score for fun with 22 goals. While we sit with the worst goal scoring record in the league and manage to hold opposition out for 60 minutes out of 90.

Crawley scored 16 goals at coventry???
Fuck me we are in trouble

The big problem is that exactly the same people who undertook the recruitment process for Weir will be in charge of the interviewing for the next candidate - unless the Prince's man on the board has some secret footballing knowledge/contact.

I guess Harry Bassett is sat waiting for his phone to ring, to start the next search....
