Scary stuff…..we know what Preston will be focusing on. Right now with 9 days to go our keeper & back 4 look average at best. We needed 1 or 2 leaders who will not drop their heads off we concede early. And we still do. Fingers crossed we can add at least 1 or 2 very soon.

We've just re-signed Davies for another year so we didn't have to live with that one. I think he's fine as a cover keeper anyway and I can understand the clubs decision on that one this summer. Grbic is the one that we should be touting about all over Europe this summer.
How much have we wasted on McBurnie, Brewster, etc over the last few years? £50 -£60 million i'm sure losing another couple of million isn't going to bankrupt us, tell him he's free to go and fuck him off even if it means paying his wages till he's gone.

What benefit would that approach bring? Surely you'd only agree to terminate a contract if an agreement can be reached on the remaining obligations. Why else do it?

Davies is competent enough to see us through a few games but won't be winning us any points on his own. Obvious we need to get one in but what can you do without the cash? I'd rather we sign a permanent than a loan.

Me too. But if it comes to it that we can get Rushworth on loan or wait to not afford Cooper it's a no brainer for me.

We can start the season with Davies, but with that defence he can't take more than 2 games.

Any other player i would totally agree with you but we are talking the worst goalkeeper ever to put on a utd jersey and one i would rather never see in our net again so just this once i would take the loss.

Think it's probably highly likely we've got an offer on the table for Cooper and we're waiting for Plymouth to fold knowing he's worth next to nothing come January. I think we'll probably see this done later in August when bumholes start twitching a bit.

Should be touting him all over local pubs😊

I'm sure all the bedwetters will still find plenty to stress and moan about ND - takeover, new signings, disproving ITK claims etc. :)
Based on the Osula thread, would it be an option to sell Osula to Newcastle for £10m (he's shit anyway according to most people on here) and then use that £10m to pay up Grbic's remaining contract and cover the accounting loss from losing a £2m asset for free?

What's the point? Might as well get him serving pints on the kop if we have to pay him anyway

Not sure how anyone can say Osula is shit because no one knows yet.....he's not done anything.....not even scored for us.
He's an up and coming player with high potential that might or might not have a good future.

Don't think it's realistic to expect him to do much this season....he's probably behind Brewster in the pecking order.
However in 2 or 3 years, expect him to improve and contribute.

£10 to £15 million is a ridiculous price to buy "potential" but clubs like Newcastle can afford to gamble that amount.
If depends what replacement we have lined up....but I'd take the money and re-invest.

Regards Cooper....sounds like a good buy....although there are risks attached.....so we need to cover this in the contract.

Desperately need a decent keep just get a bloody loan and wait until Souza/Hamer/Anel/hopefully Grbic get sold.

i dont think we can afford to start the season with davies personally still think hes a number 3 at best and we start on minus 2 points so cant afford to get off to a bad start if the takeover isnt going to be done for kick off i think we have to go for a loan keeper probably rushworth

Really ?? Any evidence of that ?

The money from the sale of Benni Traore funded the Burrows deal.

The money from the sale of Bogle went to the bank as we are short of around £20m in running costs this year hence the claim by Bettis that a single decent sale (Archer aside) would make up for the deficit. We probably need about £15m more to cover the shortfall.

Any monies going in until such time as we get a another decent sale is coming out if the owners pocket tbf to him.

And that is very very unlikely! Without a sale/takeover- this is as good as it gets with hopefully a few loans to come.

Bettis never said the "Archer aside" bit explicitly. It might be right, it might be wrong. He did say we had to sell one player - no mention of the value that player needs to recoup. It's basically all guesswork. An intrepid journalist would've asked a few follow up questions:

1) Does this one player include include Archer?

2) What is the shortfall that needs filling by this player sale?

Guessing this is where a sale of Souza would come in. And/or Anel.
