Just a thought, but as there are no realistic stand out candidates for the managers position, should we also be inviting Wilson to reapply?

Two seasons running he's had us in the play off positions, rightly or wrongly. Last season we were excellent at times, this season poor.

If we should or shouldn't invite him for interview give a reason as to why/ why not...

Given his reasons for sacking him, maybe McCabe will re-employ him for away games only ?

Indeed.

Perhaps we should go all American on this. They have specialist Offensive and Defensive coaches and Special Teams. We could go for a "home" team and "away" team situation with different coaches and starting line-ups.

For delivering a season of the most mind numbingly boring football in our history, no.

For never raking over old coals leave it.

We'd also have to display the away team's name first on the Score Board and in the programme. And maybe get some cheerleaders.

It was one good, one bad, the general pattern throughout his career.
Fair enough, we've got that sorted then ;)

But the point was, is he any better or worse than the others on offer... Such as Morgan.

I'm not advocating reappointing Wilson, just looking at it with an open mind.

A few months ago, Wilson had the best ever record as a blades manager. Now he's the worst manager ever

Wilson talked well and seemed a decent chap, but no I would not take him back.
I thought he deserved the axe, this season I saw probably the worst football at the lane in my lifetime, he stuck with experienced (passed it) and loans (shocking loans at that) over our own youth talent, to help us gain promotion.
Would not be willing to play the youngsters like McFadzean, Ironside, Girolamo when they are good enough for this leauge and will surely only get better with time.
Take Long for example, a great player now which we might have to let go to a higher club, I'd say if Howard didn't get injured, Wilson would not have given Long much of a chance, if any and he still be a raw talent.
He was not willing to sub players like Mcdonald when he clearly was having a shocker and wow how we hardly created anything in the first half ever this season.

Wilson got lucky that had a striker in the squad as good as ched

He shouldnt be invited for an interview because hes simply failed twice at his mandate to get us promoted.

Why the hell should we accept failure?

I'm not disputing that, but...

Of the candidates rumoured, are they any better than Wilson
Plus Wilson was fired with 5 games to go, he could argue that maybe he could've succeeded had he been given those last 5 games

Never go back. Wilson has an extremely poor record in management, no need to turn up before half time as his teams never had a shot and his ultra-cautious demeanor cost us by not easing the young players in earlier in the season.

Said it before, offer Rob Jones at Donnie a two year player-manager position.

He's had about 13 attempts in League 1 now, and failed every time. Lots of the other candidates, though not stand out, haven't such a track record of near misses.

Brave post Swiss, but I know exactly what you're getting at. The list of candidates doesn't fill me with excitement either.
IF he hadn't just been sacked, then yes he would look a decent candidate. Fact is he won't be asked because he's just been sacked and its not the "done thing"
I thought we would have waited until the end of the season before deciding on Wilson's future. I get the feeling McCabe saw what happened to Wendy last year and thought - "yeah that might work for us"- enough said!
We can only hope the successful candidate will sweep clean with the squad and bring new/fresh ideas in. but let's be realistic - we're blades and we're in a glorified pub league.......
