Early leavers

We stayed until the end, shell shocked ! I’ve been watching them 53 years and have never seen so many individual mistakes. Trouble is we can’t change the situation when other teams tweak their systems,we don’t pass much through the midfield so become very predictable, that was men against boys yesterday.

Been going to Bramall Lane, since 1958, very first time I have left early. When the 7th went in, and Basham was coming on , I thought fuck it. Grandson agreed and off we went, he now has the proud family record of being younger than me, leaving a game early 😄. I was lucky though , I forgot my glasses , and could not really see the Bramall Lane in very well. A blessing in disguise perhaps 👍

I can forgive players for being less talented but not for packing up and not trying. In 60 plus years of watching United that's the first time we have let in more than 6
A thought when we lost at home to Arsenal early 70s was bad but this has fucking traumatised me

I can take being beaten by a better side , despite the disparity in wealth.
But I can't watch the cheating by those sides and the bent refs colluding with that cheating.
Those top club players are so good , why on earth do they need to cheat ?
Habit , I suppose.
When Robbo won that tackle it was two blokes face to face going for a 50/50 and Robbo won coz the ball went in the direction he kicked it.
But their man rolls around like he's been shot , so the ref gives a foul and then a booking - UTTER BOLLOX.
I have been going for 55 years but it's so painful to watch the corruption of my game , I dunno how much longer I can continue.
My thoughts exactly pal I do think this year will be my last with a season ticket. All fans ask for is fairness Newcastle were the better team why the need for rolling about feigning injuries and the ref giving them most decisions the game has gone to shit as a sport, more like a soap opera now.

You’d better asks the “early leavers” on the pitch. Most of those fuckers (theoretically) left that stadium much earlier than me.

Wouldn’t have blamed everyone leaving early tbh….. apart from the Newcastle fans of course!

Delighted so many fucked off. Will make it easier to get tickets going forward. Those who bailed before the final whistle against City at Wembley were always going to spit their dummies early today.

Sure, you paid your money and get to leave when you want zzzzzzz. So did I which is why I get to call you fair weather.

Ive read this a few times now and still cant work it out.

I stayed until the final whistle for one simple reason - to beat the traffic, rather than being sat in a massive queue around East Bank Road..... absolutely cruised home to Worksop in under half an hour as a result!

9 year old daughter spent the last half an hour of the 2nd half looking at me as if I was crazy, but she'll understand the logic one day!

Nail on head there.

The game nowadays is being reffed by pampered millionaires and they're being encouraged to cheat by most media commentators.

Phrases like
"He's won that penalty" (as if it's a diving competition to convince the ref)
"He felt the contact and went to ground"
"He invited the contact"
"There was enough there for him to go down" etc etc

And then there's the rule changes. Custom made to suit the clubs that hoard 25 top notch players.
Extra players on the bench.
Extra subs allowed.
Half of the outfield players can be changed.
Extra time for the fresh players to have an effect.

And then there's the absolute bolloxology used to explain away the bias to the bigger teams
"Next phase of play", "Natural/ unnatural position", "Just there ... there , look there's slight contact, just enough, I think he's entitled to go down there", "VAR can't intervene there as ...." , "the tackle was too aggressive" (what the fuck? It's either a foul or it's not)

The bias and lack of basic common sense refereeing always seems to be explained away with another slight rule change.

Gordon handled the ball yesterday that enabled him to keep control and pass it to the goalscorer but because he himself didn't score, that's ok.
For the second goal Wes pulled off a save which gave them the corner. Had Wes not saved it, the goal would have been disallowed and a free kick to us. Total lack of common sense.

Such a strange day. Very sombre mood outside before kick off. Sunday- many people were sober- a later kick off, perhaps people weren’t up for it, or because Maddy passed away and you could feel it in the air. Then after the game, we got spanked 8 nil, i just left early thinking Its just a game of football and theres more important things in life. And i went home to my wife and Son instead.
Felt like I wasn't excited about going yesterday, didn't know why, stayed till the end, didn't feel numb or anything, not even a rant in the car going home, don't feel shellshocked or anything, weird

A fella with ginger hair sat in a "general sale" seat next to me so never seen him before,he was very vocal in a come on United way as the game went on and Newcastle scored more and more he got more distressed...when the "offside goal went in" he jumped up and shouted ive had enough of this when the fellas in the next two seats who he was passing told him it had been disallowed he came and sat back down....when the 6th goal went in he muttered in a loud way...ive wasted £40 on this....he did eventually go after the 7th goal...dont suppose he will be back in that seat anytime soon....unless he bought a Man U ticket at the same time as his Newcastle ticket.

I'm going to have some sympathy with the ginger day tripper.

I might only get to 3-4 home games a season on general sale, and I'd be fucking livid if one of those was an 0-8 reaming.

Wonder if anyone has ever left a game early enough that they managed to catch the final whistle on tv at home
Happened to me yesterday with Ajax - Feyenoord. After 0-3 in 40 minutes and firework on the pitch (already the second delay of game) we left the stadium, because we assumed that 'fans' would throw fireworks again after the game would continue.

Came home, turned on the TV and second half was 5 minutes underway and second fireworks on the field and suspended with riots outside of the stadium shortly after.

An hour after I turned on our game against Newcastle, safe to say that it was not the best day football wise...

I left after the fifth goal, and was in the Albion after the sixth. And you know what? I was glad I left early. The players clearly couldn’t be bothered, and neither could I. You pays your money, you takes your choice. And it was my choice not to watch any more of it.

I have left matches early maybe three or four times in the past, but there was no way I was sitting through any more of that. When the fourth went in I said to my mate that I was off if they scored again, as the team didn’t even seem bothered about any effort towards damage limitation.

Fair play to those who stuck it out until the bitter end. And fair play to those who left early too.

We stayed till the bitter end but didn't see the last 2 goals as everytime they broke forward I had my head in my hands! That said the walk to the White Lion was a doddle but I don't think I've ever nursed my pints for as long I just couldn't my wife's condolences afterwards!

Guilty of leaving as soon as the 5th went in. By the time I got to the car it was 8.
I have never left that early before. The last time I left with minutes to go was the Battle of Bramall Lane.

…Here’s a poll to prove our ultimate Bladeyness.
Did you fuck it off at 0-3?
4 nil…Pub/Straight home?
5 nil…Pub/Straight home?
6 nil…Pub/Straight home?
7 nil…Pub/Straight home?
8 nil…Fuck of sharpish (avoid the Geordies)?
8 nil…Boo em off? (tough love)
8 nil…Clap em off?
8 nil…Cheer em off?
8 nil…Go windmilling down Bramall Lane?

NB. Car Park protests not included.
