does feel like we've managed to sign a player every week of the season just after the deadline Hamer, Archer and now MacAttee

Probably just an FFP accounting thing
Market value for Nunes could be more like £63m and Doyle £15m
But if the two parties sell at £53m and £5m respectively, it's the same net outlay, but both teams end up with a lower transfer expense amortised through the accounts over the life of the contract
If we had realistically offered £5m for Doyle in isolation it would have likely been rejected

Indeed. But in terms of FFP it only actually makes any difference at all in the event of either player signing an unusually short contract. If they both sign the same length deal then it's all offsetting for FFP purposes, and the only advantage is that City will get a larger sell on fee if/when Doyle leaves Wolves due to the way the prices have been reported

With him signing today if it had gone through on time then he wouldn't have come on until 60 mins on but even then it would have been great to have him with us, if the delay is at City end that's annoying! This is all because the transfer window closes after the season starts, it needs changing asap.

I genuinely feel that when match day deadlines aren't met (and its the selling /loaning clubs fault) we should go back to the selling team and get money knocked off. It's happening far too often!

I'm pretty sure United would have been going all out to get it done in time but it would probably be out of their hands, as far as I'm concerned it's a well done United in getting this deal done.

I can't remember the last situation like this when we managed to register a player in time

McAtee will now only be available for 32 games out of 38

Right, coming back in an hours time, can I make it that far!? Does my head in as it is everyone else's especially the ones saying Bill and Ben and Dave and Gill or whatever that was about, sorry not in the mood for humour, especially now McAtee isn't signing in time for tomorrow.

Who knows, or is it because United, fanny about getting deals done, even at this stage?
Exactly the same scenario,a week ago, with Cameron.

All those whining about "not registered in time" surely realise Hecky was never starting him anyway?

Would anyone really mind if he was sacked? Think Twitter/X would be a marginally better place...
My twitter improved no end after muting him. I’m sure he means well, but to me it reads like “I know something you don’t know” schoolyard condescension

Nobody said that? You get him in the side, contributes to a first point or a win and off we go. It's about what COULD be, not what can't happen at all.

Point is, every minute he's in the side, he's better than what we've got.

Exactly!

If you look at the Archer deal (without all the buy back nonsense). We are paying 18m. Before missing the City game it = 500k per game. Due to the delay, it is basically 500k down the bin in terms of return for this season (in isolation).

Bit bizarre the reaction to the club over this.

A month ago the lad scored for City against Bayern and it looked like he was never leaving this season. Regardless of whether or not we get him for tomorrow or not, this is a cracking loan again and the club deserves credit for keeping their great relationship with City that has benefited us brilliantly.

If City are faffing about, it's annoying, but for us to get Macca again for the season at all, was personally unexpected and I'm more anxious about whatever complications have arisen being solved before end of day.

The archer deal was complicated by the buy back. Lots of additional contracts / wages needing to be agreed.

No idea what the complications on this loan deal could possibly be. You’d have though we want it, macca wants it - city have agreed to it. What’s complicating it?

Why would Man City be faffing about? Is that the only option

Why? He knows the system better than any other signing and he's fit. If we can't break down Everton tomorrow it'll once again be down to things getting done too slowly wherever the blame lies for it

It strengthens the bench immediately where we’ve previously had pretty much nothing, in a game we realistically could bloody well do with winning.

McAtee is still swimming around Ponds Forge.

Links to the likes of Ajax maybe? I can only think City were holding out for a better offer in terms of adding value to McAtee. An Eredivisie champion and Champions League experienced McAtee would probably be worth more to them than what we could offer?

Otherwise I have no clue!
