Hamer signing makes a Doyle loan more likely

Although a CM, Hamer offers enough creatively that I think we may forego any McAtee/Palmer loan, and go for Doyle instead, along with OBrien or maybe Archer

Doyle was mediocre at RCM, but great in holding midfield. Will we try to include all of Souza, Doyle and Hamer if the latter two sign?

Doyle + Souza should work, but would Hamer then play as a number 10? One of two 10s?

I think signing the shithouse CDM will be the catalyst for a lot this season. For both Doyle and Hamer, it would mean they don't have to worry about the defensive stuff, that will always be sorted and you don't need to worry about Norwood getting a yellow for a tactical foul as we get hit on the break. I think having the big guy will bring out the best in both of them

It would give us flexibility I think Bergen a double pivot might be on the cards and maybe we could push Hamer up. Would also give us the option to drop Souza and just deploy Doyle as the holder of it’s a game where we anticipate we might have control of the ball.

Was wondering the same

That trio offers no obvious balance, in the way signing OBrien would

Doyle can't be played as a wide CM

So I'd say Hamer would be unleashed into something of a free role, with Souza and Doyle anchoring

He looks to have the attributes for the ACM role, but Coventry hardly seems to have tried him there? Maybe mainly because he's so good that they wanted him to be even more involved in how they play?

Potentially if we were to get Doyle and another link player which I think we still need with them Hamer, Souza and Slimane we’d have the ability to move players around a bit to find the best combination of players for a particular individual match up or team opponent which would be nice.

I think Hamer often started/led counter attacks for Coventry, when I saw them.

I'm unconvinced about this Doyle rumour, but Hamer in front of those two (Doyle/Souza in holding roles) makes a lot of sense to me.

Let’s worry about who plays where if they all sign and stay uninjured !! At present we have more pressing problems

We’ve got Doyle
Tommy Doyle
I just don’t think you understand
He came to play with us
With Vini and Gus
Now he’s back with the Bladessss

A 3-3-3-1 with Souza (plus the wing backs) behind Doyle, Hamer, and McAtee/Palmer would be very nice. If we go for Doyle as a permanent with one of his mates on loan, plus Hamer and Archer I think our business may be done.

Agree on this. Would still like us to get another keeper in if possible. Henderson doesn't look like he's going to Forest now - could we loan him?

The xmas tree formation

Think 3331 is a bit risky considering we'll be under quite a lot of pressure. 3421 sits better with me, although I guess Slimane and Hamer can probably make the formation fluid between the 2 by dropping when needed or playing a little further forwards.

One of the things from last season was Doyle played across the pitch, left, centre, right of midfield,he was bloody everywhere, fingers crossed 🤞

I really wasn't expecting to sign both Doyle and Hamer as for me they would take up similar positions on the pitch. I've been playing around with a few formations if we did sign both. The second one (3331?) I suppose could revert to a flat 3 depending on the phase of play/opposition...

---------------Wes-------------
-------Anel--Egan--Trusty-----
Baldock--Souza--Doyle--Lowe
-------Hamer-----Akpom?-----
-------------Striker-------------

Are we sure this is going to be a loan? I would think we'd have been waiting on McAtee/Palmer so I'm hoping it's a buy and we've got round the relegation clause issue.

FYI even if we didn't stay up this team get like 110 points in the championship

i also see it that way hc souza and doyle protecting the back 3 and this will definetly help egan who was often exposed last season with teams breaking on us a front 3 of archer with traore and hamer playing a bit deeper is heckys target i think
