I think most agree on 9/10 positions and mainly the midfield 2 being the problem. Norwood/Osborn/Fleck/Couilbaly/Arblaster could all start in the two.

I also wouldn't start any new signings from now, Khadra and whoever else etc with not being here long enough pre season.

Wes

Anel Egan Clark

Baldock Norwood Osborn Lowe

Berge N'Diaye

Brewster

Subs;
Amissah
Norrington-Davies
Basham
Couilbaly
Khadra
Osula
Jebbison

Looks right to me - like Osborn for his legs

2 things I would ensure if I was PH

1 Berge does NOT play as a deep lying midfielder - just don’t think he is cut out for that roll in this side! For me that experiment has failed every time

We get some creativity on the pitch in N’daiye

There will be an inverse correlation between the number of games Osborn starts and the number of wins we have over the course of the season.

It's also disheartening to think that Basham will likely be a sub for a few games until PH realises that he's still one of our best players and is fundamental to us producing attacking moves down the right side of the pitch.

Osborn shouldn't be starting Championship games in midfield outside of an injury crisis

I agree with you - I dont understand the worship of Ossie - yes he is a grafter BUT thats not enough in a successful team !
I agree with you both but it also highlights the CM troubles were going to have once again. Gone for Osborn because I'd happily take a point at Watford and struggling to pick who else.
Fleck - Done with Norwood now
Couilbaly/Arblaster - Untested for a big game
Doyle - Injured

Fleck....?

Agree on the Basham comment I just think Hecky has to start his 'big' summer signing.

I’d still start Fleck over Osborn. Have Arblaster or Coulibaly to come in at half time if required

I think that'll be the team.

Possibly Robinson for Clark who hasn't impressed me much preseason.
Neither has Robinson, but he has credit in the bank for how he finished last season.

Would love to see Arblaster dropped right in at the deep end. I think he'd cope and add something.

Brewster will struggle in that lone front man role - big style, but I think he's Heck's pick until Sharp's back.

Pretty much agree with you there I might be tempted to try RND over Lowe as he’s not massively impressed me pre season and I might give Blaster the nod over Osborn as he seems to be the one in form right now. I don’t expect him to start all season but right not he’s in form

Fleck....?
The problem with Fleck is that he needs 5 or 6 games to get up to speed, he then plays a few good games and gets injured.
He then comes back from injury and we have to repeat the cycle.

Fleck isn’t good enough anymore, likely why we’ve signed Doyle on loan, brought Coulibaly back etc

Norwood is a must start, shouldn’t even be up for debate

I would also go with Osborn based on the fact he’s been one of the best preseason performers and I think Fleck is past it
The last competitive game Fleck played was one of his better performances of the season. I agree he's likely to never reach the consistent heights he did and his lack of application to his overall fitness certainly frustrates me. But I'd say he's got enough credit in the bank from the playoffs to start against Watford

For me

Just hope Berge/N'Daiye can complete 90 minutes for once. I'm sure Arblaster/Couillbay can sub them out if required

I think it might be a flat three in midfield away against Watford--likely to be one of the toughest games of the season. Berge, Norwood, plus one. I'm a fan of Osborn but I don't think he's good enough in that position. I'd prefer Fleck. Doyle injured and it's probably too soon for Coulibaly. It's definitely too soon for Arblaster.

Osborns a good player, good technical ability, athleticism and movement. His energy levels would also suit the kind of team Hecky wants to build.

Think he’s very underrated and the comparisons with Montgomery of fee the year are very unfair imo, he’s more skilful than that kind of player.

If Fleck is fit, he is going to play alongside Norwood. Unless Hecky has some real feel for Arblaster. We might think someone else should play, but that's what will happen.

*If Berge is still here
** John not Jimmy

Fleck might not be the force he once was, but no one is convincing me Osborn is a better option in a left sided central midfield role.

Osborn is a great player to have in the squad as he's a proper grafter, can play a few positions and is left footed, but if he's first choice starting in central midfield we're not looking to go up.

He's not Chris Basham though is he?!

There's definitely room for sentimentality where Bash is concerned because he's still a very good footballer.
I too will be sad if Basham is replaced, but if his replacement is better then that is where we are going.
I am still sad that Doc Pace isn’t playing !!

Osborn has looked better in some glorified training sessions. Start him. 😂😂😂
