Hypothetically speaking, let's say the situation in Yemen escalated, and as a result the U.K. government ended up sanctioning the Saudi crown prince, and lots of people connected to him a la Russia, what would peoples reactions be if our prince ended up being one of those sanctioned?

Would we be crying for sympathy like Chelsea fans are, or just accept it?

I suspect there’d be a lot of “won’t they think about the poor fans” but a cold hard comparison would show us at risk if Saudi came in for scrutiny.

PA doesn’t seem to be as closely tied as Abramovic (if Panorama was accurate), but it’s fairly hard to deny links with a title and a previous role in the government.

The situation can't escalate unless they nuke Yemen, they've already been doing worse than Russia have for years now.

Nothing will come of it because war crimes are only bad if our enemies do them, for us and our allies it's "complicated".

There'd be a vociferous section of our fans who would say "we never got sanctioned under McCabe, I told you the Prince was the devil".

You can't become wealthy enough to own a football club by being Mr Nice, so whoever owns us will have controversy but it would be good to not be run by someone with connections like he has, no matter what he's done for the club.

The scenes from Newcastle were cringeworthy when they got taken over and Chelsea fan channels are cumming in their britches about a possible deal as well.

I've got better things to worry about, Ukraine, covid, fuel and I've just heard the price of milks going up, why worry about speculating about some conflict that isn't happening, lots of thing's to worry about that are actually real.
Oh and just imagine if you want to speculate, fuckin Wednesday winning promotion at Wembley, bet you ain't fretting about Yemen now are you.

It'd be a great day for us as it would force the tin pot prince to sell us at a discount rate just like Abramovich @ chelski

Chealski's repost regarding the Middlesborough FA cup tie is reprehensible, and quite rightly the FA have rejected it. The Chealski supporters response regarding the clamp down of Abramovic is typical but not surprising
I hope we are made of better stuff, and would look upon any bans ( should the case arrise ) with compansion and with a perspective of what is right & what is wrong.

The links between our owner and the Saudi state are completely undeniable.

Our owner is a Prince and has held roles working for their Government. Pretty sure his private entities will all have Governments handed down to him by his cousins higher up too and I would guess that he is paying for those privileges as is customary down there (BBC, House of Saud documentary - one to watch).

I'd be gutted, but I would also understand it if it did happen.

We sell arms and planes to SA and train their army, so it’s a massive contradiction on an economic basis if they are then bombing Yemen

Govt wouldnt dare risk another toilet roll shortage like when covid started

We could always blame McBurnie….

It's an important issue and lots of uncomfortable questions need to be asked. Not just within football but various UK governments have accepted investment while turning a blind eye to the source of that money.

There's nothing to suggest PA is in any way on the wrong side of the law but he's an obvious close connection so would be fairly high up the list.

By extension, wouldn't the UK itself be at risk of sanction as it has, is and will continue to sell weapons to Saudi?

Id want him to sell up and leave ASAP. No different to how I feel now really. Where the fuck has he vanished to. Was happy to be on talk sport every week when we were doing ok.

Sanctions on Saudi? Pull the other one

I'm not a fan of Saudi ownership, however, were owned by one Saudi bloke rather than a cabal of billionaire badboys, which i suppose is a bit better (is it?)

A conflict IS happening, there is a war going on in Yemen right now.

Unless you're just on about our owner being sanctioned*

If the UK government decided to impose sanctions on all the princes, they’d be sanctioning half the Saudi population.

It’ll be very selective (if any at all) & I’d imagine ours won’t be particularly high on the list.

Oh no, we might lose the megabucks investment of the only Saudi Prince who doesn’t have any ffffffffffucking money.

Every so often I remember this and it hits me that we’ve made the ethical compromise of having a Saudi Arabian (don’t want anyone from that country connected with the club, it’s an immoral hellscape and a thoroughly disgusting culture) own our club and yet we’re still as skint as we have been for the last 133 years.

I thought blood money was meant to bring success
