Roy's View From... Pre-Match View From Hull

I have finally come to the conclusion, and I don’t know why it’s taken this long, that Hull City fans are the weirdest strangest bunch of fans in the entire world.

1. The game in 1971 where they kicked us off the park and beat us 2-1 (perhaps they didn't like the media portayal in the aftermath and blamed us?)

I don't get this hate, plastic or otherwise, from them. I have a very good friend who's from Hull (although he's not lived there since 1974 and has lived in Sharrow for 40 years) and he's a top bloke (blerk!). Mind you, he's not a football fan and much prefers to follow Hull FC, probably more normal in Hull than attaching yourself to a largely crap club which has historically spent a lot of time in the lower leagues. I've known other people from Hull who've been fine, and the tarted up city centre is great.
I really don't like their armchair keyboard warriors on here, they're all no-nowt nobs. Most clubs have one or two who's comments are informed, funny, or amusingly salty, but they have none. Perhaps Roy should stop doing Hull and save himself time and effort???

Absolute fucktardery at its finest, horrible fans and club, hope we hammer them

I like Hull, the city not the football club.

My son has been living there for the last 7 or 8 years and I've got to know it quite well.

The old town has some great pubs, the marina and the fruit market have a great vibe, there are some really decent restaurants and the prices are reasonable too.

Add in a regular train service to Brid and Scarborough and it has a lot going for it.

Still glad I don't live there, but it's great to visit.
I can’t believe what I’ve just read. I go to Hull fairly regularly for work and it is the most ugly depressing shit hole of a town I have ever seen bar none. Full of spice heads, gormless locals, depressing buildings, awful road layout and the most unattractive entrance to a so-called city in the UK.

I keep saying to myself “there must be some nice parts in Hull” but after going to numerous locations within the city, I can say with confidence…there isn’t.

It’s always dull in hull . Comfortable Blades victory forthcoming.

“33 quid for a ticket
Robbing piggie bastards.”

Ha, this lad evidently thinks they’re playing Wednesday 🐷

But nevertheless his comments are a bit rich coming from a supporter of a club that was charging every category of away supporter £40 per ticket four seasons ago.
Another pig infiltration on here that’s so sad

Alus been a weird lot, from experience since 1950's.
Thank you Roy.
Blades 3 points.

Find it ironic that a club from the slum of the North, with some of the highest rates of unemployment, with some of the highest crime rates, with the highest rates of underage pregnancies (need I go on)...........

Skanks! Can't wait to beat em!

They're currently watching this topic and insisting that we absolutely obviously care about them because this thread has stretched to an eye-watering THREE pages.

For my part I wasn't around when they were more of a rival. With the exception of the FA cup semi final where I fell on someone and broke my glasses, my main memory of Hull is them having the most excruciatingly embarrassing chant ever known and it being vaguely annoying this amazing piss-take fodder is wasted on such a dreary club.

Imagine if wednesday had "mauled by the tigers"? I don't think I'd ever stop laughing.

Sky Sports would call it the 'In Their Heads It's A Derby, Derby'.

Feels like we only just played Wolves. Are we really playing them again?

I lived in Hull during the '90s and there were a fair number of Blades living there and most locals I spoke to like us as a club. I used to watch a few games when they were in the L3 and had Duane Derby a sit was cheap (and you could combine it with shopping).

When they got into the EPL I was chuffed for them and they generally seemed just excited but somewhere along the line they became 'big time' and I've had more than one try and tell me they've never been in the 3rd division and never had small crowds. Their desperation to make a rivalry with us is sad.

I hope the supporters negativity transfer well to their players.

Not good to get too overconfident against a side we should beat easily at the Lane. I wonder what Billy thinks about being rested for this one? Imagine how negative their fans would be to see him coming off the bench. lol 😂

Where’s that rivalry come from? I have nothing against hull in the slightest, just another championship game.

I’d say our only rivals are the pigs, and at push Leeds.

Rivals in order
Wednesday
Leeds ('cos of the 1970s)
Barnsley ('cos I live out that way)
Errr.... that's it. Don't know why Hull should view us that way at all. 70 miles away with much closer rivals of their own. And for some strange reason Derby and Forest also have us down as rivals. Just another match to us I reckon.....

An 18 year career, mustering 261 goals and the Championship's leading scorer.

Yet some fans still spell his name wrongly!

Aye
I went to at least 3 ‘last ever’ games @ Boothferry Park in ‘90’s

Aye
Cos as I potter down the Parkway (passing the ‘Meat Market’ sign) I immediately think I’m approaching Shangri La .
