Never looked like winning, even in the last twenty when Coventry effectively opened the front and back door. What is it with this set of players? Looks like Slav had given in to their pressure to go back to 5-3-2 after the last series of disasters yet it didn't matter much did it? All we did was 'not lose', and even then, you felt that end result was coming at some time. Coventry changed their dominant line up to snatch the win (because that's what teams do at Bramall Lane, isn't it?) and yeah, it gave us some impetus but the chances to capitalise on that were just squandered, weren't they? It was a pitiful performance against a seemingly resurgent side who really did have some weaknesses any decent team would have opened up.

The back three looked slightly better with Egan in a comfortable position again but even then he looked exposed and weak when chased down. The wingbacks were decidedly sub par but the midfield was the crowning turd in the water closet. We didn't seem to know where the goal was until Didsy appeared ... only for him to piss away two of the best chances we had. I hope he hasn't gone back to his 'first season in the Prem' shitness.

Across the park now though, to me it looks like one of those electronic devices that when you drop them, they reset to a former version of the software and all the work done since is mysteriously wiped. Sheff United are playing pre-Wilder shitbox football now ... possibly early Clough levels of dismal output where a draw against Rochdale away is deemed a result. Credit to some of their players for turning it on today but really, we should be winning games like this. How many time have we said that though this season?

First half a was a dismal, disorganised mess, second half marginally better but waiting until past seventy minutes to have one shot on target and eighty for our first corner is something the clappers need to thumb down into their pipes and set light to.

Last thing ... where the flying fuck is Sander Berge please? 'After the international break' has happened. Also, what is happening with Jack O'Connell, please? Also, is anyone doing anything about that yawning, useless twat stealing cash out of the club who used to play up front for us in a few half-games? The day Mousset completes a game which has a kick off and final whistle is the day all fans should clap the idle bastard off. Why was he not on the bench today? Or is that a silly question?

Foderingham 7/10: Thought he had a decent game, much more assured than Olsen and got down well for their efforts of which there were some testing stops, the Godden one at the near post being one
Bogle 5/10: At times looking capable, but at other times in a losing tussle with their left winger
Basham 7.5/10: Man of the Match by a long stretch. Composed on the ball, unpanicked and visionary with regard the opposition, where they are, what they are doing and what their intent is. And again, ten metres of space ahead of him ... and he is carrying the ball into it. Best player in the squad at the moment and he's cracking on and been at the club eight years now. Sez it all.
Egan 6/10: Better game from him and more happier in a back three but as soon as Robins brought Godden on I though it was for one reason only and that was to run past Egan. Fortunately this didn't happen, but it was likely.
Davies 3/10: Really poor. Wasted balls, shit-stoppingly bad on the ball and so fucking slow it's unbelievable. Klopp must be loving it we are playing his so much because you know we will sign him.
Stevens 3.5/10: A usual faltering, exhausted outing for Enda. He is so vulnerable now.
MGW 5/10: At times this kid seems like the only player in red and white, and that is a good thing and a bad thing. In honestly, he's not as good as he thinks he is which is why he needs to stop the showboating, bitching at other players and trying to take the fucking world on and just pass and move. We've seen he can score and how capable he is, but his single mindedness at times is wasteful and naïve.
Hourihane 2/10: Basically a hole in the pitch. I am sure he used to be a bit of a star player at other clubs ... why does he have the capability to make a one trick showpony like Norwood look so good?
Fleck 3/10: Another unremarkable, one dimensional display of desperation, dispossession and dismal footballing
Ndaiye 4/10: Not a great game - first half - for him. I don't really think he's a striker, is he?
Sharp 4/10: PAY ATTENTION! This mark is because he achieved nothing, despite running his shirt wringing wet. With crossing and feeding like he gets, it is not surprising. Sharp feeds of half chances and opportunism. If you aren't a percentage side, and have cocks like Hourihane sending free kicks into Moore's hands, Sharp aint gonna get fuck all.

McGoldrick 4/10: The side looked a good side better and more composed when he came on and we looked a better prospect, but fucking hell ... putting two chances into the kop is just unforgivable. Loses two whole points, one for each chance
Osborn N/A: A few touches but not much to mark him by

Reading away next with Brizzle City soon after, two sides in our neighbourhood. G'waaan, say it. We should be beating sides like these ...

I honestly can't see where our next win ... or goal is coming from. The further we get into this season, the more the need to torch the club to the ground and build up from the wreckage. These players ... bar a selected few ... simply are not good enough even for this fucking division.

Thirst

Absolutely spot on analysis from pommpey there.

Basham and Fodders were the only 2 who had a ‘good game’. Basham understands that if there’s a gap in front of you, it’s beneficial to move into it at pace. It’s really not that difficult is it?!

The rest of the starters ranged from shit to average.

Fleck and Hourihane get a special mention for their piss poor and statue-esque performance

MGW tries but he’s now realised what shit he’s playing alongside so isn’t that effective anymore.

Ndiaye 🤷‍♂️

Stevens is that crap his own players won’t pass him the ball when he’s the only available option.

Didzy made a difference but then went back to his wanky finishing again.

Better than losing but a complete non event of a football match.

Can’t disagree with much of thst Marks are mostly fair apart from Davies who i thought was okay today.

Bash looked our best defender and best attacker though most of the game although the consensus of opinion round where I was sat is that he is a shoe in to be sold to Boro in January

Fodders 7

Bogle 4
Bash 7.5
Egan 6
Davies 6
Stevens 4

Fleck 3
Hourihane 2
MGW 5

Ndiaye 3
Sharp 5

Mcgoldrick 5

Slav 3

Cannot agree more with comments about MGW. Stupid fucking half arsed pointless flicks which go straight to the opposition. When keeping possession and playing the simple ball will do.
Likewise Ndiaye. He is a talent but just runs into players with little regard for his own team.
Billy has fuck all to feed off because our balls are either 2 mins too late, or simply shite.
Didzy is so calm and assured on the ball but his finishing is dog shit.

Thought Davies was better than Egan but aside from that can’t disagree with the marks

You ask about the whereabouts of Berge. Saw him on Shoreham Street driving away from the ground about 10 mins after full time, in his huge 4x4 the size of a small city.

What a truly awful match...both teams, but especially SUFC. Only Fodringham and Bash take any credit. McGoldrick back to cows arse and banjo finishing!

Midfielders that don’t want the ball - why do we have so many of them? Give me a half fit, one-legged Ollie Norwood over that waste of space Hourihane any day of the week. He actually had a decent last 20 but that’s no excuse for hiding for the preceding 70. Can’t wait for him to fuck off back to Villa.

Overall a good summary pompey. A bit harsh on Davies and Stevens who were average. Moving to the 532 gave us some solidity at the back and Basham and Fotheringham were both good.
Coventry aren't great but do play as a team. They are cohesive and committed. Our midfield is a shambles. Hourihane was very poor until the last 20. Where all the team picked it up but we went back to predictable take it down to the end line to cross and didn't create much. McGoldrick missed as he does. MGW Nydiaye and Bogle while trying need to play with their heads up more and link with pace and simplicity. But of course it doesn't help with Fleck and especially Hourihane who is very poor. We don't have energy or a plan. Slav didn't do well either. Too slow to change things.

pommpey
Not far out Pommpey thought Egan was more comfortable in a three Davies was ok Bash MOM.
MGW not as good as first thought no loss if he goes there’s better loanees out there.
A draw was the right result
BTW keep Wes in done well today

Fair do's Pommp's -Bash was MoM for us, Don't agree about Egan he held everything together at the back, knowing Bash, who he can trust, was there as cover.
Midfield is non existent - but we know that! Bogle good going forward but suspect defensively,
Forwards was always going to be hard for them today against a well drilled Coventry side.
Let's see what happens when Berge gats back.
Oh, and Wes did well, enough to keep his place

A frustrating afternoon, against an industrious and well drilled (but low on quality) Coventry. The first half was shocking, and should put a stop to people saying "Slav needs to go back to 3-5-2, it's the only formation these players can play". The second half was better, but we dither around the box, scared to have a go, looking to pass it to someone else, again and again.

Hourihane can't stay beyond January, surely. He kicked it out more times than anyone I have seen in recent years. His free-kick set pieces were good, but that was about it.

Foderingham, Bash and to some extent, Billy, can hold their heads up.

This was, essentially, a game of two goal keepers, who both probably deserved man-of-the-match from their respective set of fans.

To be fair, I feared the worse today, but we came out sort of OK. Bash, Egan and Davies looked steady, for once, Billy battled but for no reward. Wes did everything a GK should do, I think Robbins let us off the hook with the subs Didsey was Didsey UTB

Well Bash stepped up, showed what he can do, sadly far too many didn't apart from the odd pass or tackle, there was no urgency against a side that is organised, nothing special, 6/7 players put in a performance that highlights they are not just playing within themselves but look scared, too many just went through the motions, lacking leadership and a voice demanding more of them, especially across midfield

There is little point in playing Billy upfront if we are going to have to punt long balls up to him (because the midfield don't fancy making themselves available)............much rather have the Cov player Gyokeres who was strong enough to hold our defenders off.

No leaders on the pitch , no tempo , no playing pattern , no creativity & no confidence and worryingly no sign of improvement or progress . If some fans don’t believe we are in the brown stuff they need to wake up & smell the coffee .
Were gonna be stuck with this squad for a while & I don’t see other clubs banging our door down in January to take some of these off our hands . And with the noises come from the board this week there won’t be much scope for new personnel coming in without offloading .
I’m not doubting Slavs CV but I think that he inherited better squads at Watford & Fulham starting to question whether he’s the man if we’re stuck with the current squad .
If these results continue were gonna be in a relegation scrap
We look like Robson expensively assembled squad after last PL relegation & we know how what happened there ⚔️

If we'd had the fitness levels, physical strength, grit 'n determination and (yes - unbelievably) "pace" shown by Coventry today, we would have won 3 or 4 nowt easy. That probably suggests that despite being top 6, they are a pretty ordinary outfit.

pompeys going soft

very generous marks for some
the first half was as feeble an excuse of a display I can remember
not one shot at goal at home with nearly a full house
they arent getting bums off seats so the atmosphere is one of indifference purely set out by the players on the park

none of our team will ever host mastermind as they dont ask any questions
second half of the second half there was a bit of trying
but tempered by woeful finishing which is at this level starting to be very worrying

I think we have all looked for a reason or trigger, was it he lockdown and no fans, was it something behind the scenes, or the hole in the roof, problem is whatever the reason, it doesn't matter anymore, time has moved on, the issue now appears that more than half the side are 'broken' it's not a relegation hangover they are suffering from more of a relegation breakdown.

CW, Hecky and Slav haven't turned it around, it's looking increasingly likely no one can or will, its obviously beyond the players, who put in a performance today that looked like an end of season game, with nothing really to win.

Call it what you want, pride, passion or fight its gone, and doesn't look remotely like it will be back anytime soon

Agree about Wes and Bash. Hourihane needs to f**k off right now.

Wes should have the number 1 shirt now, he's played well every time he's been called upon, should be his to lose now olsen has made too many mistakes
