is the latest, to be finalised today.

Didn't feature at all last night and has been linked to a move to Blackpool this week so seems reasonable that he's on his way.

Looking forward to your 3rd or 4th revision of our midfield with the phrase "looks good enough to me" attached Fleety :);)

Alright lads? Watford fan here, as you can probably tell...

Wondering what you can tell us about Yeates. My Sheff mate was always a fan of him, seems like a good signing to me. Given the ludicrous wages you lot pay out, I'm surprised we can afford him to be honest! Must have taken a decent wage cut, as we have a £4.5k wage cap, and that is reserved for the two Watford players who aren't 14.

Good luck for the season anyway, you are far too big to be in League one for too long. It will give you a chance to blood your youth and set up a bit of a basis for the future IMO.

thanks watford, yeates is a bit hit n miss, last season he had a run of 3-5 games where he was looking like trying to win games on his own and become a blades messiah, but then he went off the boil somewhat.
tho that could have been the fact we went thru 4 managers and there was a lot of players just going thru the motions, get him fired up and you might just have a decent player on your hands.
good luck to watford too mate.

I'd put him in that category of player that probably looks ok in a decent team where plenty of people are willing to shoulder responsibility in the game, but isn't the type to rely on when things aren't going very well. You could put plenty of others from last year alongside him.

He's not particularly quick, and isn't skillful enough to make up for that, but is ok on the ball and has a reasonable shot.

I'd disagree to a certain extent, there were times last season when he was the only player on the park looking like he wanted it and he looked like he was trying to win the game on his own. I realise that's as much a slight on the rest as a compliment on his ability or attitude but I wouldn't say he only performed when the team performed.

Just don't put him on corners ;)

If you can get him playing consistently you've got a player. I think Colchester managed to do that, but we certainly didn't.

He can win a game with a great goal, or he can run straight into his fullback repeatedly for 90 mins. Toss of a coin.

If your manager is the sort to trust talent and give players an extended leash, I think you'll like him. He did well for Gary Speed, but as soon as Mickey Adams took charge - a strictly functional sort of manager - Yeates became nothing but a waste of space.

Oh, and he has a double chin, which I suspect is lager-related. :)

Alright Watford,

Don't listen to others on here who knock Yeates. This guy is an absoluete steal, probably the best winger I have seen in a Blades shirt.

Last season, away at Barnsley he hit the bar and I think the post in the same game - He's that good. He was amazing that day.

I hope for your sake that wages aren't a problem. Let me know how he gets on for your reserves next season :)

What he said ^^^^

Spot on that assessment.

He did well for Gary Speed? Away at Barnsley is the only stand out game ....Oops, I mean he was brilliant every game, just a shame we can't hang onto a talent like him

Thanks for the response lads.

Yeates sounds very much like a certain Will Buckley, who we have just offloaded to Brighton for a staggering £1m. Buckley was brilliant on occasion, but those occasions were few and far between, and he was dropped for three months during the season because of it.

£800k profit for a like-for-like winger - I'll take that any day of the week :D

Good luck guys, probably see you next season one way or another...

A winger who can't take players on and can't cross, has middle of the road pace and lacks bottle.

Not gutted he's gone...

In a purely relative sense, Yeates under Speed played like Stanley Matthews. In the land of the blind....

Coming from Middlesbrough at a time when Blackwell was dictating the spending Yeates must also have been on far too much money for League One. It seems from the friendlies that Erik Tønne may be given a chance on the left this season, and I think an out and out winger with pace would be ideal on the opposite side. Will be interesting to see what Flynn can do, but I'd like at least one more winger signed this summer.

Official SMS Text just confirmed it. I'm happier now than when Jordan Stewart left us!

God Bless Danny Wilson, perhaps he is the messiah after all.

Now get me Hamlet, A can of warm John Smiths and a book on tippy tappy

Oh and to answer Watford - We've just sold you a dud there! Unlucky mate!

WOOOHOOOO....I've just done a sex wee in my pants!

Speaking to the Official Site, manager Sean Dyche said:

'I'm thrilled to have an effervescent wide player coming into the fold here.

We used to have another effervescent winger back when Lee Hendrie was with us. My mistake - he was just a fluorescent whinger.

Another one who could of done more for us but didn't and just became another member of the team last season taking his wage. Once he realised the players around him had given up he quickly joined in with them.

A crap winger that had a lot of promise and failed to deliver regardless of who was manager.

Another one of those players that we he played against i thought he was class and when we sign him they turn out to be shite. Good riddance.

Wilson seems to be getting rid of the right sorts - hendo's discipline was terrible, yeates was dreadful, lets just hope he can get collins, doyle and cresswell out next and replace them with some hungry players who actually dont cost us an arm and a leg in wages.

official site says slew is due to sign a new deal (cant see them shouting that from the roof unless its a done deal) and this lad from falkirk signs tmrw apparently. Cody mcdonald and cb unit next please.

effervescent eh? how very appropriate, fizzes for a short while, but soon goes flat

Were we the Donkey Sactuary Benevolent Fund of the Championship?

Now that I have muled over the question a for a few moments it certainly feels like we have been made an Ass of over the last 5 years.

Yeates' one good game was at Portman Road last game of previous season where he destoyed them on his own. Thing is it was a dead rubber so don't expect him to shine when the chips are down.

Delighted he's gone. Hopefully by some miracle if we could shift Cresswell, Doyle and Simmo as well as Ched we'd be in a much better state, football-wise and financially.

Mark Yeates isn't a professional footballer.

He's a lad who likes to play and on his day will look fantastic, but as most of last season showed, he simply has no idea what to do with the ball and quickly loses interest.
