I’d love to know how we have a £40 million hole in our budget £17 million profit last season players wages reduced by relegation clause and £40 million parachute payment for first year plus we’ve off loaded players.
The £17m profit wasn’t last season, you’ve got all the new contracts and summer signings to come. We’ll have made a significant loss last season and a decent hole in the finances to fill.

The £17m profit was from the season before but that season included major purchases such as McBurnie, Berge and Mousset. Not to mention the money to buy out McCabe.

This season we splashed out on Brewster and Ramsdale but that’s more or less it. Approximately £40m.

So out of approx £100m income we’re left with approx £60m. That won’have disappeared on wages.

I cant see how we can have made a loss.

You don’t pay the transfers in one lump, the cost is spread over several seasons, but I guess we will see when the results from next season are published. You’re also going to see the Covid black hole with significant fan generated revenues missing. I’m expecting losses which more than wipe out the profit, I reckon it’ll be at least a £20-30M loss.

Is this Arsenal who sacked their mascot and loads of staff during lockdown because they had financial issues?
Yes but depends what kind of financial issues you’re talking about. Unscrupulous billionaire owner pissed off the club he signed as a profit making entity and used as capital for loans to fund so-fi stadium in LA isn’t turning a profit anymore. So he then sacks people he’s never met and doesn’t give a toss about regardless of the fact he can still financially afford to pay them then yeah. But they aren’t in any real financial trouble and could afford to pay high fees kroenke doesn’t want to do that because that’s not what he bought arsenal for.

Fuckin ell. We're not selling peak Gianluigi Buffon for a quid here.

We're going to get insane money for a good goalie who's got proven tendencies to be absolutely wank.

Replaceable for a fraction of what we're going to get. Stop rooering.

Honestly we can't stop him from going if he's wanting to go. If they're prepared to pay 35m+ I'd say that's a good deal. Have no idea how good verrips is though

If he goes we have to recruit and recruit well imo. Verrips has question marks over his performances here although he’s done well abroad. Foderingham is a bad goalie and Eastwood is untested at anything like our level.

That's not true. If we sell we'd have to replace, because none of our backups are at the level required.

You need a good keeper to get promoted, and good keepers aren't cheap. Selling clubs would know how much we'd need one and bump the price up accordingly. I'm not sure the profit margin between selling Rammers and buying his replacement would be worth the bother.

I don't want to sell him, but anything north of £35m is too much to turn down. I'd sell for that price and get in someone competent like Darren Randolph for a season

Someone explained this recently (unfortunately I can't remember who ☹)

It isn't a £40m "loss" - it's that our income next season will be £40 less than it was last season.

So nothing to see here - please move on

I wonder how much it would take to get Freddie Woodman if he's no longer going to be a make-weight in a deal for Willock

There's a possible answer then - also gives SJ £5-10m to spend on a few 31 year olds! 😁
Maybe but that relies on us getting a very healthy fee for ramsdale and the club reinvesting most of the fee received. I’d rather he stayed to be honest but if he goes trying to get woodman wouldn’t be a bad shout.

Personally, I don't see any way tight wads Arsenal will pay anywhere near £35m for Rammers

If he is to sign for them though, then obviously I hope you are right, but I don't see it.

Question mark over what ? What he did on his Saturdays off when wilder left him out of every match day squad for bombscare wes

Over whether he settled here or not and why we didn’t see him more in match day squads during his time here. That won’t just have been because he was a foreign lad as wilder was more than happy to play Berge and even zivkocovic.

Positives for Ramsdale he unfortunately has much more chance becoming England number 1 playing for arsenal.

Negatives - he had a bad run of form at the start of the season and the pressure was on him. This will be way more intense at Arsenal, I’d possibly say theyre that frustrated as a fan base there will be no room for error.

I don’t actually think it’s a negative sell for us. We could replace him and we’d have a decent budget to do so, maybe the money also allows us to strengthen midfield/ defence without selling Berge?

Ramsdale will probably go but can't help thinking he might benefit from another season here instead of another upheaval and going to a club that doesn't sound very happy at the moment, where fans are likely to be on his back straight away if anything goes wrong. Not beyond the realms that the manager who buys him will be sacked fairly quickly if Arsenal flatline again.
He's only 23 which is very young in goalkeeper terms and if he has another good season he'll most likely get another chance to go if United don't go up.

For the club I think it’s best if he leaves now or stays until we get promoted (if we do). The worst scenario for us would be if he has a good season but we don’t go up and are forced to sell him next summer. We won’t be in as strong of a bargaining position then as we are now.

Unless we're signing Freddie Woodman or the likes I really don't see the point in selling him
