Driving license is one of the forms of Id that could be used to vote under the proposed changes in the UK.

at the last census, 17% of people in the UK didn’t have a passport. Don’t have the ethnicity breakdown of that to hand, but I’ll be willing to bet a tenner that white people are more likely to hold a passport than non whites.
 
To get back to the point, if it's racist to ask for voter ID then it's racist to ask for ID to go on social media as it will disproportionately silence people of colour and minorities.
 
I agree i should be have been more specific but I hate all this divisive racist bullshit that socialist middleclass activists like BLM and most left wing politicians spin about white privilege , critical race theory and unconscious bias ,who all make a living off it . I spent many a year living on the Manor and knocked around with the Fiery Fred lads in Darnall who where all nations race was never an issue (poverty was ) we just got on with our lives where the colour of your team was more important than the colour of your skin.

All non white people born in our country will have a birth certificate. (Accepted as a ID with photograph). All legal immigrants in our country should or will have a passport.(,Accepted as ID). No reason at all not to have ID.

I don't think he's playing the victim, he is the victim. But going on TV showing how upset he is doesn't help although I don't blame him.

It just encourages more abuse and gives attention to the scumbags.

Footballers get abuse by over passionate idiots all the time. It is wrong but the vast majority of people don’t act like the idiots who abuse.

All you go on about is the colour of people’s skin as though you’ve got to back up black peoples. The abuse at footballers on social media is shit but instead of bringing race into it make it a about every footballer.
Just to add I watched old Wrighty and Shearer talking about it and as much as people may disagree I think the abusers go for the most vindictive way to upset someone. If it’s colour they will do it. Look at Billy Sharp and the abuse about his dead child. I’d never though anyone can go so low but the idiot who posted that knew that would cause some anger. These abusers don’t give a shit and never will.

When I play footy at Goals I see more blades shirts with “McGoldrick” on the back than almost any other player. Is it possible that one or two of these youngsters hearing from their hero might just listen and consider how they act and (much more likely) what they tolerate in others?

Or is the net effect of him speaking out genuinely counterproductive, as you suggest?

There are racists in this country but internet trolls are not uniquely racist they will use disability , sexuality , gender , appearance , beliefs or any other thing they they can twist to support thier warped appetite for reaction . All I am saying lets not call football in this country racist because a very small number of trolls use it for thier self gratification . When was the last time you herd anyone racially abuse a player gone are the days when the NF infiltrated football clubs not the Blades thank fuck. loads of progress has successfully stamped this poison out to pretend otherwise is nonsense . I feel the the media and big companies have jumped on the social justice narrative as it suits thier agenda and created a problem, lets face it how many fans give a fuck about the colour of a players skin especially if he is banging the goals in or clearing a ball off the line .

Possibly true to a degree in that football isn't necessarily the go-to sport for racists anymore. What it is though is a platform where there's a large number of visible successful black players and their visibility and success therefore provides a target for the small-minded members of society who actually believe the colour of your skin defines you. Therefore I think it's quite right that football use that same visibility to a) try and educate those people and b) put pressure on the enablers of abuse (the social media companies and the toothless justice system) to actually track down and deal with the abusers.

I agree. Black footballers who receive abuse from racists should just shut up and take it. It’s ridiculous that they should say anything, tbh. And on no account should they draw attention to it publicly.

No good at all can come from publicising the behaviour of scumbags, especially in a sport where (as shown on this thread, and every thread like it ever) a vocal cohort of supporters loudly shout that racism barely exists anyhow.

Didsy needs to wise up and realise that it’s probably his own fault anyhow, on account of him being black.

See :not that difficult, your favourite selfie accompanied with birth certificate is a valid ID. Not having ID is no excuse.

If you have no photo ID, a copy of your original Birth Certificate or National Insurance Card will be accepted provided it is accompanied by a passport sized photo that is countersigned on the back by someone who can confirm your identity.

Did I say that? Since you mention it, Twitter doesn't represent wider society, and these scumbags should be reported to the police etc.

It's a same thing with high school shootings. The shooter and their motives get infinite attention, which is why they do it, which encourages people to copy them. The media should stop naming them at the very least.

I'm sure I recall a statement by SUFC prior to us entering the EPL that we were either putting such a system in place or that we have such a system in place. I can't find the reference, unfortunately, but I definitely remember seeing it somewhere.
