You make it all the more tempting to do so with your daily slagging off of the man.
Nevertheless, I'd sum up his reign to date as "Good intentions marred by awful decisions".
He appointed Trevor Birch....
Can anyone tell me what this guy has done except become famous for being involved in the sale of Chelski to Abramovichski?
He has touted his wares to various other clubs hoping for a similar saviour with a distinct and overwhelming lack of success.
From Wikipedia....
Specialising in insolvency, Birch became chief executive of Chelsea, a club with a debt burden of around £80m, in February 2002, and attempted to restructure their finances. He also helped put together the £140m Roman Abramovich takeover during June and July 2003.[6] The takeover wiped out most of the club's debts, making Birch's role no longer necessary, and he was replaced by Peter Kenyon. Birch was offered another role, but instead resigned.[7]
In October 2003, Birch was appointed chief executive of Leeds United, another club with high debts, and was briefly chairman following Professor John McKenzie's resignation. He helped the club avoid administration, and oversaw the takeover of Leeds by Gerald Krasner's consortium, before moving on to Everton in June 2004 to become their chief executive. Birch was given the task of overhauling the Merseyside club's finances, but resigned just six weeks later.[8]
In June 2007 he became Chief Executive Officer of Derby County, replacing Mike Horton's previous role as managing director. Horton remained on the board as vice chairman.[9]
In October 2007 Birch left Derby County. He was lined up to be the new Southampton Chairman heading the new regime if the proposed takeover from Daniel Williams had materialised.
On the 20th November 2009, Sheffield United announced Birch as their new Chief Executive, replacing Terry Robinson

Bryan Robson - his appointment was a Kennedy moment for me. I can remember exactly where I was when I found out.
He always has fought our corner with issues like the World Cup bid and especially the Tevez affair. Attendances have increased dramatically compared to what they were like before he took over. The stadium looks far better than it did when he took over.
If only Danny Webber's effort had gone in against Wigan, or West Ham had received the points deduction they should have under the PL rules, or we had turned up in the Play Off final, we could well be in Bolton or Blackburn's position now.
His decisions since relegation - starting with allowing Warnock to go - have, with hindsight been very poor. But they were made with good intentions. He is a Blades fan like the rest of us and has the best interests of the club at heart.
Chairmans? CHAIRMANS..???
You're for the high jump laddie when Broomhill logs on here.
I suspect BoSS might have a view too......

Depends what you're asking us to defend. Am I happy with the team's current position or the quality of the football they play - definitely not - but I don't buy into the idea that everything has to be the Chairman's fault. He's put a lot of money into this club, without saddling it with massive debts, and has appointed football people to manage the football side of things - it's them that haven't performed and most were well received when they were appointed (ironically Blackwell was probably the worst received and yet achieved the most in footballing terms). Sure he's cut the budget over the last year, who wouldn't when we're losing money, but I'd rather be scrapping at the bottom of the division than wondering whether we might get wound up before the season ends. And money doesn't guarantee success, our neighbours are learning that game.
