Just reading an article about Sherringham and Cole, I'd forgotten how much they hated each other. I'm not aware of any Blades players who fell out so badly (then again I've never been in the know for gossip). There must be some examples though?

Have I imagined a fallout between Marcus Bent and Martin Smith?

Didn’t Michael Brown and Paul Devlin have to be separated on a flight to the Caribbean on a pre-season trip? I’m sure Devlin recounted the story on a podcast recently. I’m sure they had both had too much to drink which I’m sure didn’t help but I got the impression Devlin didn’t have a great deal of time for Browny. He sent back home as soon as they landed!

Something in my head about Jeff King and/or Steve Conroy and a wife and an illicit bunk up.
I might have made it up but can’t think why those 2 players names came instantly to mind.

It could be argued that George Utley's greatest impact on the game of football in England was that regarding the award of testimonial and benefit games. Usually players were awarded a benefit game for long service and allowed to choose a match, excluding derby games and large visiting clubs, from which to receive the gate receipts as recognition of their services.

Utley challenged this in 1920 and was granted a benefit match against the then mighty Sunderland after only being at the club for four years, eventually receiving around £1,000. The board had been willing to make an exception for Utley, citing his importance to the team and wishing to ensure he stayed with the club.

This extraordinary move by the club caused unrest in the dressing room and nine of the first team signed a letter to the United directors, written by Billy Gillespie, complaining that this preferential treatment was unfair. The game went ahead a few days later without Utley although ironically Billy Gillespie scored twice in a 3–1 win in front of over 36,000 spectators. Utley stayed at Bramall Lane for another two years.

The Football League discovered the unrest this benefit had caused at the club and changed the rules governing such matches. They stipulated that testimonials could only be played after an agreed period of time stated within a players contract when agreed or upon their career being unexpectedly cut short. This ruling remains to this day

Can he cut up ShawodyWaddy Buddy or whatever he calls himself these days instead ?

Just a thought 😉.

Hope you're not talking about my friend Chabuddy G

We were in shoutbox prison together but he got out.

See you on the other side bruh

Once watched a practice match at Warminster when i was a young un and Mitch Ward and John Gannon started arguing over a misplaced pass and had to be stopped by others from going at it! They spent the last ten minutes of the match abusing each other when play was going on around them and were continuing all the way back to the dressing room! Always wondered if once inside they got stuck into each other

Once saw Jonathon Hunt give it to someone in the crowd in an early round League Cup game at the Lane...that was quite funny as the bloke just sat back in his chair on John Street looking suitably embarrassed

Kelly and Nilsen I’m told, but all second hand.
With he amount of hospital back passes that Nilson did that doesn't surprise me! I digress, but Nilsen as a player - not for me. After his initial spell where he was undoubtedly good, he was a weak link in my view. I'd have rather kept Tom Cowan in hindsight who ironically Neil Warnock signed for Huddersfield.

Agree 100%, always rated Tom Cowan but never felt he won Bassett over, and Nilsen was unconvincing at LB, better in the middle for me (JOC type?). Still think David Barnes was the best left back under DB, would have been great under Wilder.

Rumour has it that the former Wednesday full back Roland Nilsson left Sheffield after catching his missus shagging the next door neighbour, who just happened to be John Pemberton

I'm sure I heard something similar happened between a current Wednesday player and the wife of a former Sheffield Wednesday player. not sure I'm allowed to name names though.............
