How would it get through? 14 votes are needed to pass i cant see 14 clubs fallin for this."It is also planned that, as well as the 'big six', ever-present league member Everton, West Ham United and Southampton - ninth and 11th respectively in the list of clubs who have featured in the most Premier League seasons - would be granted special status.
If six of those nine clubs vote in favour of a proposal, it would be enough to get it passed"
Christ.
Link?In fairness The Premier League have released a statement savaging this idea and Rick Parry himself.
Continuing substantial payments down the pyramidWhich bits are for the benefit of all football? Apart from a one off pay off to the EFL and the end of parachute payments (which will make promoted teams much less competitive in the Premier League) what long term benefits do this proposal offer anyone outside the top 6?
and the one that scored the first penaltyHang on a minute. What about the team that scored the first ever EPL goal. Should definitely get special status. Now can any football historian look ghat up for me?
So being bought out of your independence so big clubs can dump their loan players on you in bulk? Basically abolishing any chance of breaking into the top 10. Giving the Premier League ownership of who can own a team. Having no say at all in league matters.Continuing substantial payments down the pyramid
Now that would be the end of football.Perhaps there wouldn't be relegation from, and promotion into this 18 team league.
We are being far too hasty.
These are not yet proposals and do not have the backing of the PL.
Look at ALL the proposals and then decide what is good for football.
There is much discussion to take place, but I think this will be for the benefit of all football.
Perhaps a split. Two codes as Rugby, union and league. This all started when Sky and the 1st division chairmen agreed to the PL model. Now that would be the end of football.
The phrase Turkeys voting for Xmas comes to mind. Surely no one outside the top 6 would vote for this. It increases the chances of getting relegated and then reduces the chances of getting promoted, with no parachute payments and half a promotion place going.14 out of 20 clubs would have to vote for the new proposals to be approved.
TBH I don't have any idea how likely or unlikely that many would/wouldn't vote in favour for it?
Interesting that Southampton, Everton and West Ham have "protected status", but no room for Leicester (who won the bloody thing not long ago), Newcastle, or even new media darlings Leeds. It's a money/media stitch up, and will drive so many people away that football as most people know and love it will die. I'd want nothing to do with a no promotion or relegation league and would take solace in Sheffield FC or Stocksbridge Park Steels. If they go through with it, ironically other local league teams (Rovrum, Barnsley, Donny, Huddersfield) may even get boost from those looking for "real football "!!
Any proposal under the new structure would need six votes to pass. The only clubs with a vote would be the "Big Six" and those three. So what does ‘special status’ afford those giants of the game, Southampton, West Ham and Everton?

Which is why the big 6 are cosying up to them giving them special status, they need a few more clubs to vote in their favour to get this over the line.
Well they will be safe .what they will do is play some players from Barcelona and PSG for a few matches until they are safe then plead innocent saying they did not realise they were not their players,Add a few ghost goals scored by us making sure goal line tec and var are not working along side the refs monitor on his wrist all at the same time and they should be safe.Just to be sure give teams a penalty who are playing us because one of our defenders thought about fouling the attacker and finally make sure the refs we get are blind and f--king useless and able to make rule changes at the drop of a hat and they will be fine.West Ham flirt with relegation most seasons. What's their reason for voting for it?
Less home match revenue. Less TV revenue. More chance of dropping out .................. perhaps? (depends on how many teams would be relegated)
Nether do the Prem which is why they have come out against itSo being bought out of your independence so big clubs can dump their loan players on you in bulk? All for a bit of cash over an indeterminate time. Basically hush money.
I don't see the upside.
But you did. That's why I replied to youNether do the Prem which is why they have come out against it
