This isn’t unusual, especially to the Welsh.
Lewis, Ellis, Thomas are all common first and surnames in Wales. I’m sure there are others.
interestingly, Welsh names often end with s.
Lewis, Harris, Jones, Evans, Ellis, Thomas, Williams, Davis, Davies to name a few. Just look at any 1970’s rugby union team
