Besides us who are the paupers of the premier league my thoughts are Burnley , West Brom and Brighton , thoughts

Brighton aren’t but I’d agree with us, Burnley and West Brom.
 
I was listening to an Interview with Sean dyche the other day where he was asked if he was envious of the spending of clubs like us ( specifically us )

Most people in the media look at transfer fees and don't understand a club lives and dies buy its wage bill and I think ours is half of Burnley's who are traditionally one of the lowest depending on who has been promoted or relegated

If Wilder hadn’t got us promoted we’d be back in L1 by now. Probably owned by the equivalent of SISU. Championship clubs lose something like £10m a year and neither McCabe nor PA could afford that. We were lucky that in our first season we got around £10m in sell ons and add ons for Walker, Maguire, Murphy etc and had Brooks to sell in the second season.

If either owner had tried to run at break even, we’d have gone down. Like Ipswich. I’ve no idea what PA’s contingency plan was, or if he even had one. We know KM wanted to sell us to some Americans. They tend not to like losing money in business. Maybe they’d have realised what they were into and sold to a benevolent billionaire, Forest keep finding them. Or maybe they sell us to some other dodgy fuckers, like Charlton who go from one bad owner to another. Maybe it would be our accounts that are overdue.
 
Too right! Prince talking about being an established team .... cant see it ... need some big investors to come on board... hopefully soon .... sick to death of transfer rumours .... do it then tell us!!!!

I can’t really argue with that. We’d certainly be “cutting our cloth” if he had remained owner.
 
I’m sure we took out a hefty wedge of loan money from an Aussie Bank at the back end of 2019? Most seemed content that loan was for cash flow purposes?

How many clubs are making a profit in the championship? None! Its a recipe for disaster without the backing of wealthy owners or selling players developed through academy 's. the league would be broken.
Wages are the problem and until clubs wake up and live within there budgets clubs will go into administration and worse.
It's all due to the chase for the premiership.
I'm not a prophet of doom but unless wages are brought under control (that includes the premiership 500thousand pounds and more a week is obscene ).
Television is fuelling this without it the wage structure would kill the premier league.
Clubs chasing the big prizes have allowed the agents and players to become too powerful this cascades all the way down the divisions.Initiaĺy I thought Covid would reign things in a bit but it seems most teams are happy to keep the statis quo.The powers that be seem to have no idea how to control the haemoridging of money to players and agents.
They are like Lemmings running over a cliff.
Hopefully the Blades with Wilder and the prince pulling the strings we won't join them.
We have in the past and it takes us years to recover and it's getting harder each time.
 
Teams who come up generally have to spend a lot of money to compete. Once that initial investment is done you'll find a few of the smaller clubs ticking over every season. Maybe spending £20 million on one major signing to plug a gap.

PA is clearly at spending to the limit of his wealth. What I would say is at least he seems to have genuine passion for football and the club and his involvement seems to reflect this. Unless I’m missing something, there is no hidden agenda on his part or an attempt to make a quick buck. The thought of American owners frightens the life out of me, they tend to view owning a football club as a pure business venture, with an expectation of getting a return on their investment. Struggling to think of a good American owner, with the possible exception of the Liverpool guys. It’s certainly not a route I’d want us to go down.

PA is saving his money for emergencies and spending what the club earns and attracts through sponsorship.

Fair enough for me. Some fans don't have the patience to build though or wait on the machinations of the window and want constant spaffing.

We've spent ~£46m, ~£23m, ~£25m in the last 3 windows and are still looking to sign a striker for good money. I wouldn't say we're at the bottom of the barrel really, lower end definitely but were just in a gaggle of clubs who prioritise value.
 
Surely it's not a contest to see who's got most dosh, it's how you spend that resources that count.
 
Paupers; Burnley (what they have done is more amazing than what we have-up to date), Us and Leeds- last time I looked.
I'm not looking again as that page of Wiki is starting to look dog-earred and I don't want to get in trouble.

From what I have read many Liverpool fans are not entirely happy with their owners.
