I think you're spot on with that.

The thing that intrigues me most from what I've read about this lad Burke, is that he's got a combination of great pace, great strength and the mind of a duck (apparently). At least that's how several articles have painted him. I've read that he's totally tactically unaware. We might have to remind him which way we're kicking? But, it sounds like, if we can get him running the right direction, and remind him to take the ball with him, he could be an amazing asset. I'm really looking forward to this one, perhaps more than any of the signings we've made so far. Because I've a feeling it's going to be great entertainment watching him - never quite knowing what he's going to do next! Some of it brilliant, some of it awful! Should be a reyt laugh! 😆
Some cruel reports about him really. He would have been found out by now if he was tactically thick.Still involved with the Scotland squad and Clark doesn't seem the kind of coach who would put up with fools.
Wilder is a shrewd operator and the deal will be loaded in Blades favour so let's have a good look at him could be a winner.

How did the Mousset signing 'annoy' you?

Why would the Burke deal 'annoy' you?

The Mousset signing annoyed me because at the time we were linked with Mcburnie, Maupay, Che Adams and a few more exciting names. Then completely out of left field we signed Mousset for a reported ten million. It looked at the time that we had signed him instead of those names. His goal scoring record was borderline parody on paper, he was barely ever fit and the Bournemouth fans were quite content to see him go. It was said we got around 11 million for Brooks, so this was pretty much a straight swap after all said and done. I was highly sceptical it was good business.

I was wrong.

You’re allowed to say that you know, it doesn’t kill you.

The Burke deal would annoy me a bit for all the reasons I stated in the post you replied to. It would worry me. I don’t like being worried.

Surely we aren’t talking Forrest Gump level here are we?? Can he be that tactically inept that he basically is asked to just chase either the ball, after the ball, and when you get it just hit it
If he's that 'tactically inept' how has he even managed to become a pro?
( mind you Keith Edwards never got the hang of the offside law!)

My questions weren't loaded - just wanted to know why they would annoy you.

I question transfers and worry they won't work out, but especially with Wilder, I can usually find the logic in the signing.

Nothing wrong with admitting you're wrong, I do it regularly on here - I love having my mind changed or looking from a different point of view.

I apologise. I am NEVER up this early. Fuming at the girlfriend for waking me up with a list of chores for the day.

That’s what I’m saying, he can’t be as bad as suggested by some previous posts, he must have a certain level, might not be Pirlo or Zidane but he can’t be as bad as suggested

My view of Burke is that he has alot of the raw material to be a top top player.

He has used them tools fleetingly over his career so far - the job Wilder has is to get him to use them more often.

I don't like the comparisons with Ravel Morrison - he had serious baggage, an obviously disruption and bad attitude. Burke doesn't seem to have any of this and its simply a case of nurturing him rather than a complete overhaul of his ways.

Fleck, McBurnie, Burke. All bobbar according to certain corners of the internet.

Shit rises to the surface; especially true of comment sections...

How was he disruptive exactly? Much like Freeman, he was signed for a system we didn’t really use and up against an extremely settled team. He wasn’t criticised by Wilder at any stage – the opposite in fact.

I suspect one aspect of a no-cash swap is that if Preston insisted on a sell-on they’ll be getting £0. I’d also hazard a guess that we won’t have paid the full quoted price for him given his limited appearances – though perhaps some for us staying up.

Never played up there. Born up there but moved south of the boarder when he was a nipper.

For some reason I thought he started out at Celtic.

He actually started at Forest, loaned to bradford, then sold to Leipzig for £13m.

Leipzig sold him to WBA for £15m and only then did he play for Celtic on loan.

Would expect the sell on to be based on profit realised. The debate is I assume revolving around the valuation placed on Burke as Preston could say he is valued at £15 million and therefore claim a percentage of that valuation.
I expect them to have received a bonus for us staying up and possibly appearance and goals
