Or the lack of them. Will we have to wait until next season to register a win by 3 or 4 clear goals again.
We seem to be doing everything else right. Why aren’t we scoring more?
Nit picking I know, but the lsat two home games must have left fans feeling a bit vulnerable.

I know we have exceeded expectations so far, but is it too much to expect a few goals to separate us from the teams around us?

We beat Burnley 3-0
 
We can go back to the Brighton game on 21st December and since then, Liverpool and City apart we've played:

Brighton Twice, Watford, Arsenal West Ham, Palace, Bournemouth and Norwich,

All but Arsenal and perhaps Palace have been in the bottom end of the table and have been playing perhaps to not lose as a priority, so breaking sides down is harder, so we've also ensured that we preserve a lead rather than go and extend it.

Bournemouth is the only game in that time where we've scored two goals. Against Arsenal and Bournemouth we got pegged back and had to go again. The efforts to do that make scoring goals harder.

Lets not forget that Arsenal, West Ham and Watford were also in transition after replacing their managers. So they also play differently.

None of this is meant as an excuse, but I think it can also explain the mentality of the sides we're facing and how they are having to adapt to play us.

What is also really important to note is that we've conceded 4 goals in the 8 games (again taking City and Liverpool out for now), we're a side that gets wins by keeping things tight. We're not a defensive side, but we're organised.

I'd be worried if we weren't creating chances, we're having a lot of corners and set pieces which are dangerous, so perhaps we need our 3 Centre Halves and big lads like Lunny and McBurnie to weigh in with more from set pieces, but reality is that teams will work on this so its not a given.

I actually think that after the Newcastle game, the run of games against Spurs, Burnley, Wolves and Chelsea will be much more open (and if we can get Man U in there somewhere too it would be good), so we'll probably get more chances to hit sides on the break (Mousse and Ziko will be used more)
 
What do you expect? This is the best and hardest league in the world. Teams like Villa would walk into La Liga and finish 4th over there.

Godfrey rumoured to be £20m + both full backs the same. These are very good player we are playing against.

We aren’t going to hammer teams 3-0 regularly. Yes when we are on top we need to try and add a second but we are trying. We are getting better and better into games.

And we're both glad to a part of it, and excelling within it.

The pigs are nowhere near to joining the part.
 
We do seem to struggle to break down a packed defence at times. It would have been incredibly unjust if Norwich would have nicked that goal towards the end, and the were only an inch away, as apart from ten minutes early in the first half, we dominated that game.

I sometimes wonder, especially since Berge signed if rather than playing three flat midfielders, we could go with two defensive and two attacking and just one up top.

Cannot see us changing our system when we are the highest position in a very very long time.

Their full backs at lively younger players, the epitome of the modern full back, but still far from the finished article and for that reason, potentially gettable. Worth a bid?
 



There were clear chances yesterday.
McB had a header and a straight run on goal without scoring and Bash (having showed great skills to set it up ) then missed
We are just a touch of quality missing in some areas BUT I am enjoying the best season in 64 years of watching !

Meant to be 20m + and Aaron’s isn’t half the player Baldock is.
 
Osborn slotted straight in for Edna. Thought he might have started yesterday.
 
Aslong as Hendo is stopping the opposition scoring, we only need the 1 goal more than them, and i for 1 am very comfortable with that, although, I bet Moose is getting a bit pissed off, that's twice his been stood with Wilder, ready to come on, and hes been pulled back and a midfielder stuck on instead.

The OP didn't mention the future, just that he wants to see 3 or 4 goals scored against teams around us... Burnley was one such occasion where this happened and they were a team around us.

You could also argue that Brighton, Norwich, West Ham, Watford and Bournemouth aren't sides around us either....

Yes, it is too much.

We've no right to beat anyone and judging from yesterday even the shittest side in the division can play some bloody good football for periods of a game.

What we're doing is unbelievable. The results we're getting are incredible. Just enjoy it.
 
We’re in with a great chance of Champions League but I do think that because Man U and Chelsea have more comfortable wins than us, we will miss out.

Yesterday was a prime example, Man U would’ve scored at least one more when Norwich opened up in the second half. But on the flip side our defence is better so you can’t have everything.

I’d like to see us sign a top class replacement for Duffy in the summer to give us something different and make us a little bit more attacking.

I agree, it's very concerning. You only have to look at Spurs to see where we are getting it so wrong. Regularly scoring 2 and 3 goals a game. If only we had their approach we could be challenging for the Champions league spots
 



Whether the OP is pork or not, for me it's a valid question.

We NEARLY let Norwich back in the game yesterday but our LOAN goalkeeper kept another clean sheet. What happens if he isn't our GK next season.

We should have put the game to bed by half time and didn't allowing Norwich the thought that at only 1 down the they had a chance.

We did a similar thing v Reading - coasting at 1 nil and we allowed them back in the game.

The Prince has talked/mentioned quality players in the summer - one of those should be a goal scorer - as expensive as that is, we have to find one.
