Soton,
I'll listen to it on the i-player thing when I get round to it but I've read absolutely nothing on here that suggests anything other than a major battle against relegation next season.

Many of "our" questions asked uneditted anyone?

Fair enough lenners.

Although i felt it went well, there are still some things that worry me. Birch said that 14 players for next season is over estimated, which is a figure Blackie came up with. Also said that away form will be addressed with Blackie.

I'm just wondering if they are planning to put enough pressure on Blackie post season, to try and force his hand to a resignation, rather than having to sack him.

It's obvious that wages will be halved next season. That for me means players from lower leagues and attempt at bargains from abroad, feeder clubs and youth.

The bit I was please with more than anything is that didn't really shirk a question. They answered honestly throughout in my opinion. I think if they were to be completely open about everything then that would be to the detriment of the club

Back at S24SU.com towers and going to see what the audio is like to provide a transcript (oh joy!)

Radio Sheffield were involved tonight but they won't be there tomorrow and while Seth did have a neb of our questions, he apparently went a lot on what RS listeners had got in touch with. We have been told that tomorrow will be no-holes barred stuff with more of the questions you wanted asking so if you do have any questions/reaction from tonight or things that you feel have not been clarified, put them in here.

You could ask them if we've sold Chengdu.
It would also be nice to know if they're going to grow some when it comes to dealing with the Football League and next season's fixtures.
SWFC will have made at least £500,000 on having a local derby first match, the biggest team in the division on boxing day and a home match last day of the season.

The Chengdu issue was dealt with Lenners ... as you'll hear when you've found the time to listen to iplayer.....or read the transcript when you can get around to it .

Just one thing i'd like cleared up based on what was said tonight.

Blackie has said quite clearly that they'll be 10 players left on contracts next season which leaves us with 14 to sign.

Mr Birch however has said there are 16 on contracts for next season and the 14 players coming in is inaccurate.

This seems to show that manager and board are either not communicating properly, or have a differing opinion on next season.

Could they clarify?

I though that it was good, a lot of positives to take from it I thought. More focus on the academy, acknowledgement that the amount of loan players this season is unacceptable and what I thought were some pretty straight answers from the chairman to some difficult questions.

Agree with Bubbleburp's earlier post though, Seth Bennett seemed to think that it was all about him and I was pretty annoyed that he cut off McCabes summing up statement before he'd finished saying "We have to stop here" to play 30 seconds of vapid elevator music leading into a Radio Sheffied jingle. Surely he could have let him finish.

Was it? I read something odd about running it and having commercial rights but not having any liabilities for it.
That sounds like a right deal and I suggest SUFC goes forth and multiplies such deals wherever it can.

Dealt with? We've spent millions which wasn't mentioned and we've no got no liability whatever that means. I also bet that means we don't ahev any upside as well.

Not a chance of him selling up BB.

Not charging a penny interest.

I didn't understand that bit. The June 2009 accounts clearly say that interest is being accrued. Maybe not paid but it is added to the amount owing to McCabe.

I'd have thought that it should have been made clear in the accounts that McCabe wasn't taking a penny interest because I was sure there were interest rates clearly set out.
I'm also pretty sure that McCabe has already taken a substantial amount out and earmarked all the Tevez dosh.
I thought accounts had to say what the full picture was?

I thought the repetition of questions in second half hour was pathetic. Gave them an easy ride after I thought it started well.

Plenty of excellent questions from the list on here that need asking tomorrow morning.

Tevez money, style of play, facts on Evans cash

It does (unusually) make it very clear in the accounts that interest is being accrued at ridiculous rates on his loans. This is why I am astonished that people take what he says as the gospel truth. He suggested that interest was not being paid - fair enough - maybe it isn't but when the Tevez wedge rolls in it wil as far as we know go towards paying his loans off, plus the accrued interest in my book.

LInz - any chance of clarification on the interest question? The accounts clearly state that interest is running on amounts owed to McCabe.

Keep the comments and questions coming people, we're currently beavering away with stuff and following up requests.

We'll basically be taking ALL feedback from here with us and be at the lane far too early tomorrow morning and present throughout the forum, we'll certainly ensure your comments/questions get to the people that can ask/answer.

We are talking and assisting directly the chair of the event, so rest assured your comments on here aren't just going to be ignored.

Maybe he forgot to run it past you.

He was advised to do it but the interest was always going back into the club. It sounds like it was just done that way for the accounts.

You see as a total rookie I always thought accounts were there for the benefit of the tax man and company house.
Are you saying you thought accounts were supposed to be crystal clear and open? i think you are being naive Lenny.

style of play,
he said he wasn't happy with the style of play nor the performances quite a few times this season and that they would be taking that up with the manager.

facts on Evans cash

They were clear that Evans cost £750K upfront and the rest was entirely on appearances upto a total of £3 million.
The only thing they didn't know is exactly how many appearances he had made this season so couldn't give an exact figure.

'The interest was always going back to the club.'

Not sure what you mean by that.

McCabe loans £2m at 10%. That is £2.2m owed to McCabe after one year. Tevez money comes in and £2.2m goes out of the club. Very easy. If that isn'tthe case I have no idea what the notes to the accounts are stating when they mention interest rates and amounts owing to McCabe

I've got a question Linz ...not sure if it's one that's already been raised on here but here goes anyway .

Seeing as how we're paying these players of ours thousands of pounds to entertain us , could we have some of the old spontaneous interaction with the fans back next season please ?
Just the little things like letting some of the team (in ones or twos as before ) drift to pitchside on matchdays to sign the kids' autograph books or shirts and have a word . Even chucking the odd pair of gloves into the stand has been missed over the last couple of years in the family stand .

That's what he said, this was the agreement with Birch.

No it means £200,000 is just paper money, it is never taken out surely you can see that. Maybe it's my naive lack of understanding but that is what "i've not taken any interest and it was put on the accounts at the request of the third party and FSA but will be put back into the club won't it Trevor" meant to me.

I thought it went on similar lines to the one pre-season and was very pragmatic rather than optimistic.

Our boat has well and truly come and gone, and by the looks of it we are back in a transitional phase. I would expect a season along the lines of 2000/01 or 2001/02 where we are comfortably mid-table but will do very well to make the play offs with a cut price team.

McCabe said TONIGHT we will be spending money and signing players to mount another promotion push.

Him and Birch admitted that the cub signed piss poor players last summer and this summer will be different.

In 2000/01 or 2001/02 the club was skint/brassick/potless/revenueless 10 years later the club is miles from those days, its as if some United fans want the club to fall apart just so they can have a good grumble at seth.

I've said before about Burnley, they wish their wage budget was 7m last season. Look what can be achieved with a settled side and empty treatment room (Not this season as they have obviously ballsed it up).

Thats as maybe, but they also said there would be a REDUCTION in playing budget

Him and Birch admitted that the cub signed piss poor players last summer and this summer will be different.

So what have done to rectify that situation? The man who signed them is still there, will he be entrusted with another warchest?

Some United fans show a bit of pragmatism and realism. We have moved on from those days, but next season we will have a more or less new team on less wages than their predessesors, they will take time finding their feet at the Lane and i feel that it will be a similar season to 2000/01 or 2001/02 as even if we was potless at the time, it was a transitional time where we regroup and began moving forward for the first time in years. If we finished 15th next season with a settled team sprinkled with youngsters playing good football i would regard it as a good season as i would be able to look forward with a bit of hope and pride.

They also splashed on signing Chris Eagles, who was the catalyst for them going up

'when the Tevez wedge rolls in it wil as far as we know go towards paying his loans off'

It has got to as the condition of the loan/s were such that the club could convert to shares or repay in full.

The problem was that the person who decided which way the club would deal with it was the guy owed the money.

Lets hope Evans has to make over 1000 apperances.
