They played their home fixtures at Gillingham? That's really far. That's.... check google maps 74 miles! Respect to their fans who made that trek for "home" games.
Yeah. They got stitched up by their owners. As I recall, they told them they wanted to apply for planning permission to redevelop the Goldstone Ground as this would increase its value and they could then borrow against it to invest in the first team.
So they got planning consent to redevelop it into a trading estate. Then sold it to developers. I’d just moved to Brighton, would have been 1997 and I remember seeing the ground, dirty and looking abandoned and then a couple of years later it was an estate with Curries etc on it.
There weren’t many options because there weren’t any other clubs near Brighton (Crawley were non league).

I get your point but I went to Fulham away season before last and that wasn't so much a walk in the park for them, more like being carried around the park on a sedan chair.
Yeah, they battered us but we just kept singing and supporting our team. Fulham fans were quite impressed.

“Both games (and wins) over Sheffield last year was a struggle in first half and complete domination in the others. Their CBs dont overlap a lot if they dont have the ball…”

Anyone else find that strange? They didn't play either Sheffield club last year in the league?!
Ahh the games up Mr Potter, your forum handle has been found out

When I lived in Brighton they were playing at Gillingham in front of a couple of thousand. Then they moved to the Withdean which I think was only around a 5/6k capacity. They’re now getting large attendances so I can only assume these new fans are quite new to football.
A lot of Brighton fans have a "second" club who they support. This club (normally Man U, City, Liverpool etc.) was the club they originally supported when Brighton were shit. When they then decided to crawl out of the woodwork and support their home town club, who weren't quite as shit as they had previously been.
There is a generic term for these type of fans. Wankers.

First time I went to Hastings I was with my mate who had a job driving a van around East Sussex. I got out of the van and a lass offered me a wank for a tenner. If I’d been on my own.....

There's always one, pushing the rates too fuckin high. Little wonder the towns spirilling into depression.

The poor fuckers got well and truly stitched up. Went to The Withdean when we won 4-2 and Warnock got pelted with coins. Had a great night out with some of their fans. They were telling us that when they got their ground back they would easily get 20k (we were getting about 15k). If we got slung out and had to play at Ilkeston we too would have lots of part timers/glory hunters when we got our ground back. Many thousands of their fans were denied seeing their team.

Edited to add. Booked a room at the Hilton for me and my lad. I left him in the pub for another pint. Woke up the next morning to find the room crammed with about a dozen of his mates crashed out on the floor. Got up and dressed and they all followed me down to the restaurant where they helped themselves to the very nice buffet breakfast.

Thank you Roy, should be an interesting game from a couple of points of view. Manager is he CWAK's Moriarty? Five points behind United, not a lot, but they have lost seven, probably not as mentally strong as United.

The word is getting around that we play football and those ignorant are starting to be corrected.

But you probably aren’t on the internet telling everyone a different team play a certain style because you once watched them on the tv a decade and 10 managers ago.

I’m not having a dig at those who only watch their team because I totally get that. I just can’t stand the football know it alls who don’t even watch the game
My ex-brother in law (big Blade, hilarious in the pub, shit husband), memorably said that the World Cup was pointless "cos Blades aren't in it ". Priceless!!
