Possibly, given that Paul Robinson went off with a calf injury in the match at Spurs - having a scan next week to determine how bad it is. Allardyce's comments:

"Its not clever, he has a calf injury," confirmed Allardyce.

"We'll have to have the calf scanned as soon as we can to see the extent of the tear and then see how long it would take to repair that and get him back fit and well.

Allardyce could choose to recall either Mark Bunn or Frank Fielding who are both currently on loan with Sheffield United and Rochdale respectively.

"We'll have to have a look at that and obviously take that up next week and see where and who we should call, whether it would be Bunn or Fielding."

I hope not, I'd rather have Bunn than Bennett. And I thought Bunn played quite well today; pulled off a few fine saves.

But in the end, it makes no difference. Other than avoiding humiliation at Swillsborough, we really have nothing to play for.

Blackwell out.

People slagging off Paddy

Our poor defensive record is not simply due to the defence...

Kenny has been awful for a couple of seasons before his ban.

I disagree. He always made the same kind of errors when trying to sweep up behind the backline, but his underrated organisational skills made up for them.

More Monty knocking Housling?

Shame on you.

Your right Liaminho9 if Aksalu isn't a better keeper than Bennett he shouldn't have been signed or was it just to give some height to the team squad photo.

It baffles me why we sign half of the players that we do, as they never seem to get a shot.

No I don't particularly think that Bunny is that much better than Paddy.

However, I do know that Paddy Kenny has been living off one good season for an awful long time now. Because of who he is though, some fans seem content to lap up the rubbish that SUFC say about him being the best in the Championship. He isn't.

Kenny had one good season in 2002/2003. He made vital saves and he did something that no other keeper we've seen at the Lane in being a 'sweeper keeper' or whatever you want to describe it as. Since then, Kenny has dwindled for me. He had average seasons after 02/03 and his ability to command his area and the area behind the defence has diminuished. He does not make the big saves any more and he has NEVER commanded his box anywhere near the standard needed.

Add his calamitous record off the field: the business with his missus, the cough medicine. He is a joke and an embarrassment to the club. Then add a few other idiotic ideas he has had on the field. His cock up against Everton in the PL was ridiculous, cost us two points and our place in the Premier League. Since then, when has he made any big saves for the club? The biggest one he could have made was at Wembley - and he never got near it. I stand by my claim that it was a lucky sidefoot effort against a poor goalkeeper and any goalkeeper worth his salt would have stopped it.

Ask yourselves this: if he is the 'best keeper outside the Premier League' then why does (a) no Premier League club ever make a bid for him? and (b) his country not want to know preferring to call up Grimsby Town and Scunthorpe United's finest instead?

No, Bunn is not much better. But to call for the return of Kenny is a joke. How much money has he made this season for doing feck all? I'd have him out assisting the bloody groundsman at half time ...

And our good defensive record last season was not simply down to Paddy. He was a lucky goalkeeper playing behind that defence.

If the club still had a set of balls we'd have taken the Piggy keeper off their hands by now........and somehow managed to get them Lee Baxter as a replacement.

Or given them back Ola Tidman. God, he was a class act!

To pick a couple of mistakes since 02/03 and highlight - way out of order.
Bunn cost us more goals in the early part of the season than Kenny did in all those seasons.
bunn continues to make mistakes and lets highlight a similar to Paddy's against the pigs at swillborough. you know the one when paddy came off his line to punch clear only for Watson to lob.
Now Bunnagainst Plymouth the other week - same came off his line got no where near and you know the result.
of coarse you may not realise goalkeeping has changed since 02/03 perhaps you will tell when Mr Kenny changed his game and moved with the times, just so i realise you know what your talking about in terms of goalkeeping.

So Blackburn are going to be recalling Mark Bunn.

We are left with an ageing second string keeper and a virtual unknown.

Great management

Nothing, iirc hes not on an active contract, and the one hes going to be on doesn't start until after his ban expires?

IMO Kenny should have been released after the drug test failure.
As has been said he has been on the slide in terms of ability for a few years now.
He just has too much baggage nowadays and although he is one of the last remaining players from the 03 squad. We should not keep him on sentiment alone seeing as finances are so tight.

I think we should give the new Estonian keeper a game. our season is pettering out & w emay as well try a few ideas out for nexf year.

How many times have you seen the Estonian Kev?

Goalkeepers aren't 'ideas'. They're massive risks and can easily end up more Lee Baxter than Mel Rees.

Hopefully he'll be half decent (otherwise no point in signing him).

Or is visit.Estonia.com going to be our net sponsership deal ala Justin Haber and the malta deal!!!

He is very good. I can assure you that. At least he was for his old club in estonian premier league and also when he has been representing our national team.

My only worry here is that if you put him straight from trainings to the first team competitive matches - there might be troubles with knowing the back four and playing well together. This in turn might bring some confidence issues.

Thus the most convinient time to join in would be during pre-season preparations.

Actually I believe this is also one of the reasons our current team is struggling as a whole. The turnover of players has been so steep - the team-play hasn't had time to really develop. And the worst part is - it will never develop, if we keep changing it all the time in the hopes of making into playoffs.

We should kick our loanees out, take academy players in, make permanent signings and start our pre-season preparations now. Surely it would begin with losses - but we shoulnd't really care, we are safe in CCC and should be better prepared for the season to come.

Kicking the manager out would accelerate this process.

But it isn't a couple of mistakes! It's a boat-load of them!

What Bunn has done is irrelevant; I don't think he is the answer and isn't much of an improvement. I'd suggest his ability to take a cross just gets him my vote of the two.

Goalkeeping hasn't changed since 02/03. That's ridiculous IMO. The point of goalkeeping hasn't changed - the point remains to keep the ball out of the net. His 02/03 season included big saves, sweeping behind his defence and very few mistakes. He has not got anywhere near that season since.

Add his off-field shenanigans and the fact that he will have been picking up a very decent wage for nothing this season and I think I have reason to think he should never wear a Blades shirt again.

I don't know for sure but I find it very unlikely that United can not pay the fella when they have backed him.

And I can't recall reading that his new contract would start after the ban. I stand to be corrected if it does.

Rumour is that's he back after tomorrow, with Simonsen from Stoke in as emergency cover.

At this rate,we'll be phoning round on Friday trying to get 11 out like a pub side....which we've turned into. No...that's being unkind to pub sides.I used to run one,and believe me,it was far more well organised managerially than the current shower of shite in charge.

That, and we played far better football...

That's been the same for any of our keepers of last 4 months so should fit in well
