Think it'll get rescinded.

Wasn't a red unless you say his tackle was unnecessary (which it was really, he wasn't going to win possession and Gomes wasn't going far, plus Aurier was coming) and put his opponent in danger, which it obviously did since his foot ended up hanging, rotated by 90 degrees.

Still might not play though even if it doesn't, looked traumatised.
 
The injury happened because his studs stuck in the ground after the foul. The ref had the yellow card in his hand. Looks like VAR gave it but that was a reaction to the injury not the foul. But because it was VAR it'll probably stand. Harsh.

The only explanation is that he didn't need to make that tackle as Aurier was coming, but it's still not a red unless you factor in the injury, which you shouldn't really. I suppose there's endangering an opponent but it was indirect endangerment.

let’s hope kane’s still got a hurty belly next week too.
 
Couple of things about this,

1. Looked like Aurier caused the damage not Son
2. Just me that thinks it wasn't a snapped bone but more a dislocated ankle? Not that this lessens it anyway. I dislocated a finger once and I only need to do a mild fart for it to pop out of it's joint now
 
I blame the ref for the whole sorry episode, he was inept at best. He didn’t have control of the game and Son had been battered from pillar to post all game, this meant he wasn’t an happy chappy and was probably the reason for his rash tackle.

.....oh, and VAR was absolutely shite once again.

Agreed, they don’t seem to book many players for diving nowadays which seems a strange one.
 
Was never a red card.
Extremely unfortunate accident.
Nevertheless it would help us out if it doesn’t get rescinded.
 
Just remined me of the awful day with Coutts , the day we lost a great player , glad he's back playing now ,we won that day but I just felt sick, speedy recovery to the Everton lad , lets hope our fantastic team can have an injury free season .

....and the thing is, if they book him early doors for the first one he might think twice about doing it again.
 
Premier League statement:

'The Premier League have said: "The red card for Son was for endangering the safety of a player which happened as a consequence of his initial challenge."

They seem to be backing the refs decision. Don't know if that means it will stand.

For the record i dont think it was a red. It was a foul and a yellow, it caused Gomes to trip and collide with Aurier, who was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, no fault on his part. Football can be a dangerous game sometimes, these things can happen unfortunately.

Think it was a yellow but the red was a mercy for Son, he was in no state to carry on
 
If its rescinded or not Son won't be playing next week IMHO. I do like watching him, good player.
The injury looked horrendous, I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Not necessarily. That's just a quick reaction, not a considered decision by a panel, as what happens when a team appeals. It does indicate that they will stand by it however.
 



Never been a red, and should be rescinded. Hopefully won’t be though and hopefully Kane will still he injured
