seen a few comments that Villa might not have anything to play for at Leeds as they are in the play offs already.

Well I beg to differ.

Would villa prefer to be 4/5th and play West Brom over 2 legs?
Or the clearly better side in leeds?

On top of that, risking resting players and losing momentum. They would want to go there and win to give them that edge in a play off!

Agreed, they also blew a 2-0 lead to Leeds in December which (I hope) they’ll be motivated to avenge. No reason not to go for fourth if it’s still attainable; they can always rest players last game of the season.

I don't buy this about Villa resting players in the next two games.

if there's one thing a manager wants is momentum and Villa have that.

They are probably favourites going into the play offs - Smith has obviously got them playing to their strengths.

There's still enough in the play off positions for Villa to catch W Brom and have the advantage of home 2nd.

For sure they may rest a few in the last game (Norwich home) but by then they will know they are well in the play offs.

At the end of the day - Blades win 3, we are promoted - fuck the others unless we HAVE to think about them..

Am I being overly pessimistic in saying that we could win all three and still finish third :(

Whilst ever Villa can overtake WBA they'll be fully on it. They'd want the 2nd leg at home.
This. Also on a personal note, IF we finsh 2nd and get autos, I'd love nothing more than for that odious little twat Grealish to score an OG in the final that means they lose. Ideally in the 8th minute of 5 mins added time. I'd love to put the tin lid on our season watching him sob his twatty little eyes out on the pitch at Wembley.

How would that work then - you saying Leedswill catch up 6 goals difference as well ?

Villa have won 9 on the trot. They have a chance to set a record that will be in the history books forever every game they win from now on.

Their players will want that.

Even to think that, you should be looking up the Samaritans phone number ;) If you do, pass it on to a few others.

With a +6 goal difference over Leeds, they would have to play incredibly well against brentford (a), Villa (h) and Ipswich (a) to get in front on goal difference. Don't forget that we would also win 3, meaning a starting goal difference of at least +9.
.A bookie would give you 250-1 on that - so in effect, No.

They could put 6 past Ipswich.

Won't Villa want the psychological advantage of spanking Leeds knowing they may get them again in a play off final. If they can beat leeds on their own patch comfortably they will be happier about doing it at Wembley.

This made me chuckle - not only the depth of pessimism in the assertion, but the fact that Mr Doom and Gloom himself (Nicky Copernicus) hit the "Like" button. I'm starting to think these guys actually enjoy Blades failures so they can say "I told you so".

Villa fan here. I wouldn’t question our effort going into Leeds/Norwich. The only concerns are over Tammy (but Kodjia will take his place), and possibly resting McGinn (who has been immense, but if he gets two yellows he’s out of the playoffs). We will give it our all in each game and we certainly will want to put one over Leeds after they beat us earlier this season.

How’s Sharp looking for you? How long will he be out do you know?

Oh shit I can’t cope with that. Hope you are wrong but that’s a typical unites thing to miss out on promotion with.

It's just foolish doodling when there's nothing better to do. I'd imagine that looking at it coldly you might begin to think it's possible, but then so are many other things.......try and ignore pessimism, it does no good and is based on childish beliefs such as we're not deserving of good things. It's stupid, period!

McGinn's been a predictably brilliant signing. Signing of the season in the Championship after Pukki..... and McGoldrick.

He better play against Leeds. He's the last one I'd want missing for that game.
