does any one really doubt McGoldricks worth now

No one actually slated him for anything other than his goalscoring.

He’s picked that up, so fair play to him. Brilliant today.

No one really doubted him though. They just pointed out he missed chances. But still, I suppose that's enough for the O/P to justify his favoured 'you negative posters were wrong' angle instead of simply praising the player.
Oh I think they did.

I'm sorry but there was one or 2 "doubters"

Some old guy said it’s about time he scored today after the goal. I said that’s 4 in the last 4 games he then went on about the penalty he missed against the pigs. o_O

Picked him as the signing of the season, when he was signed.
However, as things stand all of Wilder's key summer signings [Deano, Egan, Norwood and Didsy] are giving the panel one hell of a mare in picking a winner.

That really was a fantastic window.

I've noticed about his role in the last 5-10 games (and from watching the replays)... He's playing much closer to Sharp in the centre forward position. As a consequence both Fleck an Duffy's performances have improved and he's getting in the box more where goals are scored. There's no point havin four people overlapping on the left if there is only one player in the box. Thankfully we've realised this. As a result the ball is being delivered earlier and with more purpose, and we are catching teams on the break or with excellent long passes from the likes of Norwood.

He missed a few sitters including a pen v pigs so the fuckwit were out in force ,anyone who knew football could see he was playing well

Pleasure to watch you play Mr mcgoldrick ,absolute pleasure

I and many others said we needed more end product from him, particularly as he plays every game. And now he's delivered, which is great.

I don't see such comments were in any way unfair or inaccurate.

It is perhaps amusing that some people are so precious about mild or even constructive criticism when our manager, based on his comments last week, seems fine with the team being booed for poor performances.

Yeah, there's a guy who sits a few rows behind me that was moaning about him all game. Although he did once mistake McGoldrick for JOC, so I try to ignore him.

Anyway, back to the OP. McGoldrick's value? If 2 goals in 17 games Martyn Waghorn is 'worth' £8m, who knows? Chris Wilder? Priceless.

Well if he hits 18 or 24 goals by the season end he could be priceless....

He’s been an absolute revelation. Seems unbelievable now that he was out of a contract and initially came here on trial.

Like a couple others in our team, he has to be playing the best football of his career. That’s Wilder for you.

Don’t think many realistically doubted him in the first place. For a free signing at championship level to be in double figures in January is staggering though.

Imagine how many goals we could have scored if we had bought a striker for 6/10 million though.

But Brian on the radio says hes a Sunday league player and he should knows because that's all hes ever seen.
Makes you wonder if he carried Waghorn at Ipswich.

McGoldrick has been fantastic. I always knew he had a bit of quality, but I didnt think he would stay fit enough, or get the number of goals he has, so far.

Great signing again by Chris Wilder.

I remember Slew notching a few goals on the back of Creswell selflessly busting his guts and wondered how he'd cope two divisions higher, without that level of support. Perhaps Waghorn is suffering a similar fate

What he is clever at is when you think he's lost the ball...... he gets a leg in to flick it to one of our players and off we go

You're right .

In a few games , particularly at Rotherham , he was often too deep and too wide . I' m much happier seeing him in the box supporting Billy and the rewards from this are there for all to see .

Yes, he can still exhibit his first touch and interplay up there too. There's no need to get drawn too deep.

I don’t at all, complete non entity of a club. Fuck em.

Although I’m sure they’re surprised it’s McGoldrick not Waghorn tearing it up
They have been in Europe and even won a European competition. They have won the league title and fa cup all in living memory whilst we have won fuck all apart lge 4 tittle .So if they are a non entitys what the fuck are we ???? Pisses me off when we have totall disrespect for others who have achieved

Don’t give a fuck really pal.

I think most people were a bit underwhelmed we we signed him on a free not only because they wanted us to spend millions on a marquee striker but listening to the tractor boys all we were hearing was injury prone, poor scoring record, lazy, bad attitude, doesn't want to be here good riddance blah blah.
Now look where we are. Wilder has got him playing well scoring goals and no sign of any injury problems so far, holding down a place in a team in the top two of the league. Ipswich seem to have fallen apart this season after letting McGoldrick and Waghorn go and now don't score many goals, are in deep shit in the bottom three and looking fairly certain of being in league one next season. Waghorn this season is not doing much either yet our Billy is scoring for fun this season is this another McGoldrick effect ?

My recollection is that they were mostly (if not all) complimentary about his abilities and attitude - if only he could stay free of injury. I remember being encouraged by their comments at the time.
