Due to complete his permanent deal with Wigan for £1m on Tuesday

Sun saying that Blades have to complete the permanent deal in the morning for him to be able to play against us later that day. Then goes on to say that if we don't put the paperwork through on time then in theory we could then stop him playing against us

Sun then also says that due to the bizarre situation of facing Wigan on the first day of the loan window and due to the loan-to-buy situation, we could pull out of the deal and then actually play Evans against Wigan that same day.

IMO, £1m will not be turned down and I'll lay money on Evans being allowed to play whatever the outcome on Tuesday as this will have formed part of the pre-agreement and should also be deemed a done deal as is the the supposed case with Norwood. So, this part is a non-story and all bollox. :)

If we can prevent him playing then we should. Fuck Wigan. Fuck Evans.

Reason number 115 why I love Wider-
He doesn't always get transfers right, no manager does, but he doesn't get it wrong for long.
He doesn't drag his feet or give certain players more time because they were his signings.

Under certain managers players like Carruthers would have picked up wages for the next 5 years.

Wonder if this is why Dowell is not 100% done until the 2nd... "sorry lads the guy who signs off all our deals is hungover somewhere and nobody can find him"

No way he's worth £1m. Delay the deal so he can't play then take the money and run.

Get the deal done. You never know Wigan might suddenly backout if we start messing around. I don't think Evans has always made the first XI since going there anyway

Our current midfield can pass it round him like he’s not even there. Barring the ‘Boro goal he did nothing for us.

I’ve got nowt againt the lad he just wasn’t good enough, forget about him, let him play and be confident we’re good enough to beat them either way.

Excellent point mate

Spot on. I hope Evans does play against us, we have far better midfielders than him these days. There's a reason why he isn't a certain starter for a struggling team in the championship.

I, amongst others, was accused on here of having some sort of 'agenda' against the lad when we were pleased that he had been moved on. Clearly they were right, and it wasn't just a case of some of us seeing that the lad was just not good enough, and too slow to move the ball on when he got on the ball....

He's probably a good lad, but he was no better than a decentish league 1 level player imo.

Actually hope he plays, slows the game down so much that we can capitalise on that with our high pressing

This biggest take away from this is we got 1 million for Lee Evans. Doubled our money after doing the same with Leonard (1.4 million). Great business. Two wages of the wage bill too. More than paid for Nowood.

Ok a bit of the rules. To play in a game you have to have completed the signing by 5pm on the day before a game. As the transfer window doesn't open until midnight on New Year's Day we can't complete the Dowell transfer by 5pm before the day of the game.

For Evans he is currently on a 6 month loan which started mid August but we are allowed to end it from the beginning of January. Also in a loan agreement you cannot play against your parent club unless specifically agreed in the loan paperwork. For Millwall, they paid us more to allow him to play against us so we agreed. Wigan didn't. So he can't play on Tuesday unless the loan is made permanent on 1st. As Wigan currently have his registration then this would be allowed.

Simples.

A million quid you say?

In what … tenner-a-week installments? Fifteen grand downpayment, the rest spread out over Evans's career?

I take it we are assuming this miwwyun quid will go straight into some or other 'kitty' to buy players?

Think we'd better temper our excitement over any financial transactions such as this.

If we didn’t have an agreement in place for him to play earlier in the season, I doubt we’ve arranged one since. Though I’m sure if he does play it’ll give the Shoutbox an early meltdown opportunity as soon as he completes a pass, or successfully breathes in and out.

Has to be specified when deal signed.
