Saw him at Tesco's in Chesterfield a few years agoMy god ,Brian tilsley
I'll wager the more money that the deal is worth the more money the agent scoops.
Why can't the club ban these hideous parasites and refuse any dealings with any of them, except the decent ones (if there are any).
So next time a young star decides to switch agent after a signing a new contract. We say well that's all right but he's 'persona non grata' here and we won't discuss anything with him, so either negotiate yourself or see out your contract... end of
Interesting point. Jack O'Connell's agent is a cunt if he leaves us for Brighton but when he left Brentford for the Blades, GLTTL!Henderson has been a regular visitor to Stocksbridge last season for SUFC U23 games. The word often goes around the handful of fans who get up there - seen who is here? - who is he working for now? etc.
To my untrained eye, you can't detect who is working for future opponents, who is working for a club who might want to sign a player & who is an agent working for a player.
For eg in my mind Chris Morgan has turned up at different times in all three capacities. Currently, I believe he is an Agent.
The realities of the "ban these parasites" comments don't play out in the real world. Sorry Mr Morgan you're not welcome at this SUFC U23 game v Coventry at Stocksbridge.
When he was managing previous clubs, and before he'd found out what "ultimatum" meant, Wilder was a very frequent visitor to U18 games at Shirecliffe.
Hi Chris, I know we chucked you out when you came to see the U18 game v Barnsley, but we'd like you to be our Manager now.
The most frequent "scout" at SUFC U23 games is Jamie Hoyland.
Football has a very complex set of relationships.
Scouts, agents, parasites - all welcomed with open arms. Have a tea in the Directors Room.
Partly because we need our scouts, agents & parasites to be welcomed when we try to get someone else's player to break his contract & sign for us.
Just thought I'd share my view on "the reality"
Would we ban Wilder's agent or is he OK?
Just trying to clarify the forum rules?
Ban the ones that are blatantly greedy scumbags
Well you appear to have missed the point totally so I'll explain:You reckon?.........![]()
or as others would see it, assisted in coming up with the figure. Happy to helphe demanded their board part with £15 million
The Secret Footballer has some interesting points on agents. Fundamentally he points out that clubs use them just the same as players do. And players drive agents much more than the reverse.
So it’s empty posturing when McCabe decries their role in football. Either that or he really doesn’t understand how these things work.
But all that said, could I dislike Darius Henderson any more? I doubted it until now...

I'd bet he knows exactly how it works and understands that players hold all the cards these days. We saw that with greedy twat McDonald. Club offer new contract, player/agent want buy out clause. Club and player can't agree on amount, player turns down contract. Club could lose player for next to nothing.
Can you imagine JO'C's agent advising his client that a £15m buy out figure - suggested on here - would be okay?
Spot on that Phil its the way it is in what is a relatively small community I suppose the more agents and managers we see at Stocksbridge the more recognition of the way we nurture our young players. No doubt Paul Mitchel and his contacts does the same for us.Henderson has been a regular visitor to Stocksbridge last season for SUFC U23 games. Academy player recruitment lives or dies on REPUTATION. We were able to scoop Brooks up after he was binned from Manchester City (partly) because the Academy has a good reputation for treating players well & doing things the right way. If the word went around that Agents were not welcome at The Lane, Shirecliffe, Stocksbridge, reputation would drop & young players wouldn't join.Spot on that Phil its the way it is in what is a relatively small community I suppose the more agents and managers we see at Stocksbridge the more recognition of the way we nurture our young players. Be nice if this could happen but we must remember the contract is between the club and the player and is enforceable by both of these parties. Brooks would have moved with or without an agent but, particularly with young lads its in their interest to have someone who can help them get the most for their talent. Worth remembering the work agents do to place players at all levels of the game down to non league clubs where the financial returns for them is very small but can be a step to eventually better things. Not just the forum rules - life's rules. There's no comparison. This needs firming up at contract re-negotiation stage, given the pivotal nature of an agent on a player's career. When a player signs an initial or subsequent contract it should be on the basis that it only applies with the current agent in place, if not the contract is void. We could (I know it's unlikely) sign a £10m striker and then he switches his agent to Jorges Mendes. His contract wouldn't be worth the paper it's printed on. It would be like the club saying 'You know we agreed on £X a week? Well now we've got a new accountant who says it should only be £Y a week.'
In this case, Brooks agent has done well for him, but what about the wider picture? It's pissed off thousands of fans, could have upset the balance of the team and got other players thinking of a move themselves.

But we only initially gave McDonald a year contract didn’t we? Then when we negotiated to extend it, following POFFU4, wasn’t it at for a reduced wage? Hence the release clause. My understanding at the time was we thought no other club in L1 would activate it as they wouldn’t want to pay his wages (which were still high for L1) Then Wolves got relegated with parachute money.I'd bet he knows exactly how it works and understands that players hold all the cards these days. Bloody hell, I must be a rare creature, one who always rated Darius Henderson before he came to us and one who always thought he did what he was bought for when with us.
And... Saw him at the Lane several times last season, in the directors lounge and he was welcomed royally by all and sundry.
Good job he didn't go on the kop by sound of it!
Mind you, looking at size of him close up and his history of violence, doubt whether any of the name callers on here would have the balls to repeat their descriptions to his face ...
Having the opinion he didn't do it for us and calling him from a pig to a dog are however, two different things...I too thought he was a good signing. I was so very very wrong.
The fact he could kick my head in if I told him how bad a signing he was doesn't alter that.
