Reception Superstore and Box Office now open! Game on tonight as planned</p>&mdash; Sheffield United (@SUFC_tweets)

Read somewhere that the Desso pitch takes in 4 times as much water as the old pitch?

Unless you have the bottom of the range version, aka “NettoDesso”, aka “StyDeck”, aka “PorkPark”.

This one comes with a non-porous, farmyard-friendly, clay-based underlay, which retains 4 times less water than an old pitch, and floods 4 times as fast.

Forecast for this afternoon is rain and temperatures rising to 9c. So it will be absolutely fine, no problem, definitely on.

I think the rain is the problem! Undersoil off now and covers on! Chessy and Forest both gone due to waterlogged pitches.

Really? Yes well, you have a point there mate. I'd hope we can put the covers on as you say. I think as one other guy said though, they won't want it cancelling if it's on Sky.

Just surprised they say it is on as planned when Forest, Donny, Cheesy all off. We have 4.5 hours more rain till then too. As I say snow will have all gone but hope they have some covers on or not sure how it can take 12 hours of non stop rain.

When they installed the new pitch they also put in a new drainage system in the Bramall lane/cherry street corner, water basically runs straight through the pitch and then into a storage bore hole for the sprinklers.

We must have got a good quality pitch if the match is definitely on given the amount of precipitation with more to come.
Money well spent.

Raining at the moment in S2 (been raining at least 2 hours). Plenty of slush and standing water under foot, but roads are perfectly passable. Picture taken at 12.30.

Anybody live near the Pennines (Castleton, Peak Forest etc.) that can tell me what the roads are like?

You can’t be too careful with snow and ice...I once slipped from the back of the kop all the way down dem steps....landed on an old bloke in a wheelchair, damaging his kidney I believe...poor feller.

The forecast is an INCREASE in temperatures throughout the day
It will be a warm 9 degrees tonight when the match is played
And it will rise to 10 degrees in the early hours tomorrow morning.

You won’t even need a coat for tonight’s match.

Looks dangerous. I think I’ll give the match a miss tonight, safety first! ❄️

Come on, it's Cardiff, kids are off school. We need all the child kidney punchers we can muster.
