and have just comfortably drawn away to a team 3 places below us.

wtf is wrong with some of you? Do you really expect pound shop players to just waltz into a team at the highest level they've every played and become world-beaters overnight?

They played well, we just don't have enough. There's not some magic wand Chris can just wave and suddenly we're a team of top Championship players.

Calm down ffs.

Half full v half empty.

If we weren't top late November and capitulated I would be with you. Opportunity missed.

It was frustrating today as they were worse than Reading IMO...starting Ched over Don or Brooks or Wilson..I dunno what’s going on there watching the lad today...must be doing something in training?

We were only top because we had momentum, things were going for us and mainly because we surprised teams.

Unless we were going to spend a lot in January, we were never going to keep it up.

what happened to 'in Wilder we trust' ??

Trust the bloke, implicitly...I’d keep him even if we went down this season....saying it as I saw it.
You should try it some time... ;)

You have a bizarre way of expressing your ‘agreement’. :)

Thank you.... thank you...so much... a little sanity in a sea of bulshit..

It's just context. To get to the play offs we needed to win games. Ipswich were dreadful. We really should have won. Being disappointed that you didn't win a game you mostly dominated isn't a referendum on the progress of the club.

What Wilder has done in such a short time is fantastic. But today was still a missed opportunity

What Wilder has done is a miracle.

We expect more miracles it seems.

A comfortable draw to a team below us isn't some great achievement.

It isn’t a great achievement, nor is it a great disappointment. I would have liked us to win today, but I hardly think it’s a result that warrants a huge amount of laying into the team either – which only a minority has to be fair.

What's wrong with some of us is we've seen that, a few weeks ago, we had the momentum and were top. We've seen that we could beat every team at this level - but not of late.

That's all that's wrong with us really

This bloke speaks good sense. I was there. And if I'd have been Wilder I'd have been furious. Ipswich were garbage but we couldn't beat them

We were top because we were playing some of the most inventive and incisive attacking football I’ve ever seen at this level.

We haven’t kept it up mostly because we’ve stopped playing that way. We’re not taking so many risks in the final third and we’re not scoring as much as a result. Whether this is a direct consequence of Coutts’ injury I’m not sure.

Nail on head. We can bicker with the “we can still make the play offs” brigade, and the “we drew 0-0 and this forum goes into meltdown” brigade, and we can clap, and we can slash, and we can trust in Wilder, or we can doubt in Wilder, but - cut to the chase - this is it.

We had a brilliant first half to the season, and maybe some of us got a bit giddy - injuries, loss of form or confidence or shooting boots, whatever it is - we’ve now regressed to the mean. For me, it’s equally valid to be happy we now look comfortably like a mid table Championship team after 6 years down below,as it is to be a bit disappointed we couldn’t keep up that brilliant early surge.

Yesterday was 2 hardworking teams playing on a very poor pitch which was difficult to play passing football on. If Lunny had pulled the trigger when through, Brooksy had shot when through, or Billy had taken Willo’s rebound better everybody would have been talking very differently. We are a very good side whose confidence is just a bit low at present.

Keep Calm The Magic is Still Growing

Any club which gets promoted and comfortably finishes top half in their first season up can feel mighty proud.
Imagine WHEN we get promoted to premiership, I would take top half right now.
Yesterday we outplayed Ipswich and dominated for the whole 90mins. I just don’t get how anyone can’t be pleased with that away performance.

Spot on.

We'd have been bullied out of it & lost that game earlier in the season (as per QPR, Millwall, Preston).

It wasn't pretty, but we dug in, we battled, we stayed positive. We're adding much-needed resilience to our Championship armoury.

People are upset. because we've only managed six league wins since we lost Paul Coutts. That's the only major setback we've had and it knocked the squad for six.

Some Blades, SwissBlade (sorry to pick on you I just remember you specifically!) for example, posted that they'd be disappointed if we weren't challenging for the top two come the end of the season. Naturally enough, some are now disappointed!

It's all very well and good saying about where we were last season 'you'd have bitten my hand off for top half" and so on and etc, but it cuts both ways. There's not a poster on here that wouldn't have been disappointed in Mid November if we'd said that by the middle of March the play-offs already looked like they were too much of a stretch.

As a matter of interest, if at season's start, without disclosing the final league positions, someone would have told you that Millwall, without any serious money spent would finish above us this season. Would you have thought that was acceptable and showed progress by the club? I appreciate that this hasn't happened, but might looking at current form & run in. I'm just curious.

But you can look at it another way and ask if someone had said we'd finish above Wednesday, (probably) Leeds, two of the relegated Premier League sides would you have been happy with that? If Millwall finish above us then they have had a superb season, but it doesn't mean that our season has been a failure.

Our early season form was down to 3 major factors, in my opinion:
  • We had our playmaker: Paul Coutts
  • We were an unknown entity and employed 'unusual' tactics.
  • We still had momentum from our 100pt season.
All this is worth remembering when considering our form in the second half of the season.

Opportunity missed.

If you took an exam where the odds are that you'd do poorly or fail, but actually got a good passing grade, would you regard that as a missed opportunity to get an A?

It was frustrating today as they were worse than Reading

Individual moments of the game were frustrating, but can you honestly say that taking a point on the road in the championship is a frustrating result?

A comfortable draw to a team below us isn't some great achievement.

Its not a great achievement, but it's still a decent result.

We've seen that we could beat every team at this level - but not of late.

Is that mysterious to you?

We haven’t kept it up mostly because we’ve stopped playing that way. We’re not taking so many risks in the final third and we’re not scoring as much as a result.

The reason were taking less risks is because teams identified some of our defensive weaknesses and we had to alter our tactics as a result.

Dont speak for other people.

There were plenty on here (no idea if it includes you) after matches like Fulham and Bristol City querying the gung-ho, go all out for a win approach. We are certainly playing more cautiously now, but is this largely because other teams had worked out how to deal with our early style? In this league, you need more than Plan A, and that will take time.
