Personally, I'd rather the money is spent on the team. If it's purely a comfort thing, move to the South Stand. Spend more money like you're asking McCabe to do.

I do thanks, and no it’s not purely a comfort thing. Personally, I’d like our Kop to be something we can be proud of, like the rest of the ground, rather than the part of the ground that sticks out like a sore thumb.

McCabe doesn’t need me to ask him to spend more money – I very much doubt the Kop redevelopment, half-arsed though it might be, will cost nowt.

Surely safe standing is about........standing? I'm not sure how a seat on the south stand with a flask will cure that desire? :)

That's why I mentioned the comfort issue using the word "if", thinking of earlier posts.

When I was a kid and I asked for something if the reply was we'll see (similar to perhaps) it meant yes,

Funny....in our house it meant no. Can’t ever recall a “we’ll see” working out as a yes.
Generally used to avoid saying no, so as not to cause a Paddy from the young me in the hope they will distract me with something else or into forgetting all about what I was asking for.

Apply that thinking towards United.....”are we getting some huge investment to spend on players Mr McCabe?”

“We’ll see!”

Means no, darent tell them we are desperate for investment and won’t go up without it so will spin them a yarn to keep them off my back...show them that picture of the stadium plans quick!

Which is why I asked.

I agree about a half arsed development btw. Which is why I'd be tempted to use the money on the team now until we can do a proper job.

I’ve been tonight and really enjoyed it. Thought McCabe came across brilliantly, can tell he’s a big blade and cares about the club. Also feel a change at the top is imminent, he seemed really annoyed when quizzed on the Sheiks input (or lack of it) and admitted we need financial contribution from somewhere to move to club forward on the pitch. He also alluded to the fact we have became more attractive as a brand due to the way we play and the Chinese connection to both to him and the city, when asked if potential investment is likely.

Sounds like his presentation in Leeds recently. Apparently he was good then.

He always talks a good game I’ll give him that.

But then so did David Weir

Went along tonight and it was really interesting, particularly so as McCabe evidently had a bee in his bonnet about the Prince's role at the club. When probed he said the Prince had been brought on board to bring in investment and that the ownership model needed review.

I took this to mean and/or the Prince is not putting his hand in his pocket - is not courting further investment in Saudi Arabia.

Two things to remember about Kevin McCabe

1. He always talks a good game and puts his point across without saying too much

2. He seems to have a few disagreements with people along the way but never seems to burn his bridges.

I went tonight and McCabe has incurred my wrath. Pulled a ticket for the raffle and said "99" before turning it over to correct himself reading "66". Needless to sat I had 99.

In other news, I hate to fuel the rumours but got the distinct impression that McCabe was less than impressed with the prince's contribution. Said he brought the prince on board for one reason only. Wealth. Then talked about oil wealth in Saudi Arabia and how he hopes to tap into that (as if the other was merely a gateway to tap into the wealth of others. ).

Surely Mcabe being the astute business man would have had some sort of legal binding document that if the Prince had promised investment he could hold him to account?

Easier said than done. I'm not sure how you could quantify that in a legal document for a contract, given the nature of the business?

It's been brewing fro months. The fact that McCabe is going more public with it suggests something's going to happen.

He is going public to try and gain support, does not mean I support McCabes opinion of the way things have panned out

Having read the last few posts. It seems clear that the prince and McCabe are on different wavelengths Can't blame McCabe for being hacked off about the situation!!. Looking likely that there's no new investment coming on board!!. Hope I'm proved wrong?. Utb

Disappointing. Most disappointing.

Would Wilder have a say on it?

If they oppose it I can see why because what's proposed isn't an ideal, complete solution. It would lack flexibility and create a rigid formula within stadiums.

Why not just enable standing in seated areas, maybe with a rail along every row?

This, by the way, is a typical example of where we could do with an effective supporters' group, but we have nothing. Safe standing is something the fans should have a huge say in.

Interesting to see McCabe confirming what was flagged up on here a few weeks back.
Sounds like the gamechanger has clearly fallen short when the opportunity presented itself.

It's not them that will need convincing, though it would vastly reduce capacity if we looked to retrofit. It would be SAG, in Sheffield, where Hillsborough still hangs over.

Watch this space.
