Wilders first

When he first came in, about half a dozen games into the season, he kept talking about how he wanted players to be braver and move the ball quicker. That's what's needed now. It's not that bad but it's not good either. We kept the ball well, moved it side to side, but it's all a bit too slow and predictable to stretch teams enough. And, unfortunately, we play some nice overlapping football to players who get about one cross right out of every twenty. Only one decent one all night and Donaldson nearly flicked it in.

I keep being told we battered them. I can't believe anyone can possibly complain or criticise the manager of a team who battered the opposition :rolleyes:

We need a plan b. He can't just keep saying he's not going to change formation when it clearly doesn't work unless the opposition doesn't press, doesn't match our formation or doesn't park the bus.

This.

The exception should be Bash and O'Connell being the widest men. Too often tonight they were outside of Baldock and Stevens, Bash especially.

It's a great option as a surprise, not so much as the default.

Too much at stake tonight for him to go for it when Loovens got sent off. He admitted in his interview that if he’d have brought Billy on he’d have gone 3 up top, against anyone else at home he’d have done it but not losing to that filth was important to him.

The fact that they’ve celebrated a 0-0 and Sky are giving them plaudits for drawing says it all.

Onwards and upwards.

Thought Duffy should have come off after an hour
Maybe Holmes will give us a bit more in the final third now when teams set up camp therev

Duffy not at it today, Enda going forward wasn't either, I think after the sending off it would have been ideal to bring Billy on instead of Wilson and one of Evans or Leonard to try and dominate the midfield and push them right back.

The quality was just not there tonight, kept giving the ball away far too cheaply in the final third and had very little given to us. Fair play to Wednesday their game plan was obvious but it worked, frustrated but just happy not to have lost.

We don't put first time crosses in. By the time we've played 20 pointless passes back and forward the opposition has all angles covered. It's too slow and too predictable. We need to put earlier balls in. Give the strikers a chance. No one has the balls to do it at the moment.

Agreed but as you say without Brooks I guess he thought it was best to leave him on. I was hoping for a cameo from Leonard tonight somewhere in midfield, but still overall happy.

I’m not sure I agree. I’m a big fan of Billy’s but he’s not been doing owt. Not making runs. Did nothing against Bolton, got took off after 60 minutes. He’s too small for crosses.

However when their defender gets sent off we had a spare man at the back. I could see it from row ZZ at the back of the kop. We should have taken a defender off and put a more attacking player on. Whether that’s Billy or whoever who knows.

Which chance would he have scored?
couple of times the ball was pulled across the 6 yard box, not guaranteed but that's where Sharp does his best business (think we had similar against Millwall too)

Billy would have played if he'd not Bern so abject in his last half a dozen games

Didn't see last week

Respect to the pigs they got what they came for but they worked us out too easily.

Second half was very poor. As poor as I’ve seen under wilder to be honest, the quality wasn’t there

He said that in the Sky interview. He says what we're saying on here.

Good grief! We did batter them, 64% possession and probably similar time % spent in their half. They had 5 yellow cards and a red, should have been 2 without doubt, needed to keep us out. We had 0. The expensive massive came to the minnow blades and set up in typical Bundesliga boring formation to frustrate us. They survived, with big losses. Who'd have thought this a year ago? We went through a similar period last year when teams came to frustrate us, but we improved and finished on 100 points. Short memories most of you. I'm happy at the progress and trust in the CW AK team. UTB!

I wonder how Carruthers might have got on running at the centre of the pig defence. For once I'd have been happy with a dive for a penalty
