Shitting themselves

Describing the two goal margin victory in September as a "massacre" has been a joke by United fans.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was afraid to ask how many needless lives were lost that day, but now I know it's a joke.

We've got to somehow beat Carlisle first.

lets hope KC can give them another reason to shit themselves before the derby then

They were shit last time we played them, they are still shit. Their players are highly paid, and were brought in on wages out of balance to their ability. They kidded themselves that those players were genuine premier league class players simply because other clubs and the players agents had their pants down!

However. It’s a derby. We are out of form, can’t keep a clean sheet, still defend poorly on occasion and aren’t creating as many chances as we were earlier in the season.
So I wouldn’t be in any way confident we will beat them.

In fact, it’s more likely that a new manager will be appointed to give them the short term boost a new manager often does.

Sad to say you make very valid points GB

Unfortunately all the bollocks people spout about derbies often turns out to be true. If we put a proper shift in then I think we'll win a close one. But I'm basing that on them showing up and playing well and us being better.

Wouldn't be shocked if we were lacklustre a la Bolton either.

But I'm going for 2-1 with Billy getting an 88th minute winner in front of the Kop

Let’s not go into this over confident like they did earlier in the season. Gonna be a close game, play like we did today and we will get a result.

I think we’re going to smash the fuck out of em...just sayin’ like....it will be their nadir...apart from the relegation to follow. :) :D

Out of form no, out of luck yes.

I only see Wednesday beating us if they heavily invest some more money in their team in the next 12 days. But first and foremost, they need a manager.

I don’t see pigs spending, I actually think appointing a new manager now gives chancer some time as he can appoint a new manager middle of next week and then play the line of him needing to assess the squad etc etc.

What they will do is turn up and defend in numbers, hit us on the counter and let us feel the pressure they had at theirs. This time WE are the favourites!

If we win, it will be tight. 1-0 either way for me. Draw most likely. Though if we score first they might try and come out and play a bit and open the game up a bit.
My early prediction.....0-0 at HT. They somehow sneak a goal on the break early in the second and we spend the remainder of the game on top and struggling to break them down. Hi there and miss if we score. Of course in that scenario we could score one and they would not change their tactics, seeing a point as a good result. Will struggle to score 2 IMHO.

Can they really be as poor as they were at the sty? Surely they have a bit of pride? They will not want us doing the double, it will be a hard game. As for them spending in the next 12 days not a chance more like they will be trying to offload a few for fair play reasons their dream of the Premiership has long gone they just won't admit it yet.

Before we get carried away and start thinking we just have to turn up to win, remember we ourselves have only won one in the last ten and that was against the woeful Sunderland.

We still need the same focus and attitude we had in the game in September.

Hit the bastards hard in the first 90 minutes.

Does anyone really believe that shower will even have a manager in for the derby?

Im guessing they brought McClaren in, bottled it due to the reaction and now will sit it out with Bullen (poor bloke) till after the derby and then drop McClaren in like Mary Poppins after we’ve tonked em’.

UTB!

Off topic but going to Porktalk really makes you realise how nice it is here. Loads up, looks nice, isn't full of massive adverts, doesn't redirect you to "you have a virus/ you have won a prize" pop up pages.

I'd say that derbies rarely go to form. I mean, who would ever have expected us to smash them 5-1 in 91/92, or for their rag tag outfit to complete a double over us in 08/09?

I think as fans, we need to guard against complacency. Remember how we mocked Parson Cross Rovers for their arrogance in the lead up to the massacre? I don't think Wilder will have that mentality anyway, he will desperately want the double and will stop at nothing to get it.

Must confess, I’ve had a peak at pork talk, and giggled like a girl at some of the pennies finally dropping.

The post..”the final straw” was a particular favourite.

However, still feel we will struggle to get the result even if we are by far the superior team. Hope I’m wrong, and that the twats sink into the relegation places over the coming weeks. Now that would be funny.

Just like at their place, attack them early, keep the ball but if we lose it - defend in numbers...

Derby today worried me in the first half as we pushed on, they sat back and waited for us to concede possession - then they hit us with fast counters. This is what we did to the pigs first half at the sty too.

Lundstram, Fleck and Duffy looking good through the middle though now and with Stevens, Baldock, bash and JOC bombing on then it gives us real attacking options.

And that’s without mentioning the strikers.

We just have to get at them again, which they will expect, but we also need to be patient and not over commit. Let them make the mistakes, as they will.

They won’t be looking forward to it. We just have to make sure we are

Today will have been a big boost

If we were playing any other team in their league position & situation most of us would quite rightly be expecting a solid win. But this is the pigs were talking about fucking anything can happen.
But we are better than them AND we'll definitely want it more. let's just hope we get the same Wednesday that turned up against Burton today

Bert obviously missed two goals in 90/91. Any idea who got them?

I'll be shitting myself, like every derby game. I'll happily take a point now and bragging rights for this season.

The OP has clearly got a fair dose of sense, and hast fallen for all the bollocks like the majority appear to have done. He, the same as me if it were United has clearly been concerned by the goings on and not turned a blind eye while the same majority continued to.
But what an absolute joy to see some balance and credibility on there for a change. Average players on huge wages, and the reality of their biggest rivals making them look stupid. But they really don’t know what needs to be done.
Not one of them has any genuine idea how to put it right. Only a week ago, Bullen was their Wilder and promotion was back on. Now the reality hits that it was the players all along and they won’t be able to shift them.
They have a look of the United I saw get relegated to league one under Adams. New CEO appointed similar to when Birch arrived. Squad full of overpaid shit. And hopefully the final piece of the jigsaw being a clueless chairman appointing the wrong manager again. Pity Adkins has a job, but McLaren will do.

Good times.
